Demi Moore Reveals She Almost Quit Hollywood. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Demi Moore, who is basking in the success of her comeback movie The Substance, revealed she often struggled to find her place in the industry, which almost made her consider quitting acting. The 61-year-old actress, arguably one of Hollywood’s most recognisable faces, took a long sabbatical after starring in the 2011 thriller Margin Call.
Over a decade after disappearing from the spotlight, Demi Moore made a triumphant return with the Horror flick “The Substance” and her supporting turn in the FX limited series” Feud: Capote vs. the Swans,” which has received rave reviews from critics. Her movie, “The Substance,” about an ageing actress who resorts to a black-market drug to create a younger version herself, premiered at the Cannes 2024 film festival and received an 11-minute standing ovation.

We know the drill: When Hollywood actresses hit a certain age, they’re pushed off the industry conveyor belt. Some find a few roles, or perhaps a gig as a brand ambassador, spokesperson, or fitness guru. That’s the world of Elisabeth Sparkle, as played by Demi Moore, in Coralie Fargeat’s body-horror industry satire “The Substance.” However, this film represents the best role in the 61-year-old Moore’s career.
In the mid-1990s, Moore was a star after “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Ghost,” “A Few Good Men,” “Indecent Proposal,” “Disclosure.” She hit her financial peak with the 1996 “Striptease” — $12 million, which inspired snarky asides of “Gimme Moore” — but the reviews were bad and the box office not much better. Her career shifted into smaller movies and smaller roles (including a standout turn in 2011’s “Margin Call”), many of which didn’t deserve her presence and, well, sparkle.

If you were around in 1980, you can, sadly, imagine the confusion that might be caused if a woman drove up to the 20th Century Fox gate on Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles and claimed to be the new head of the studio. This simply didn't happen. Women didn't run Hollywood studios.
Someone had to shatter that glass ceiling, and Sherry Lansing was as qualified as anyone to do it. She started out as an actor (appearing opposite John Wayne in Howard Hawks' swan song "Rio Lobo"), but quickly grew dissatisfied with that area of the industry. She was far more interested in the behind-the-scenes aspect of filmmaking, and quickly proved she possessed the savvy and good taste to succeed as an executive. At Columbia Pictures, she was one of the driving forces behind such critical/commercial successes as "The China Syndrome" and "Kramer vs. Kramer".

"Three Days of the Condor" is one of the most suspenseful crime thrillers that came out of '70s cinema. The New Hollywood movement was in full effect with audiences turning to gritty, low-budget films for thrills outside of the failing studio system. Sydney Pollack was one of the foremost leaders of the cinematic era, and "Three Days of the Condor" was one of the final entries into its canon. The filmmaker's 1970 film "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" earned him his first Academy Award nomination, so "Three Days" was a highly anticipated follow-up.

Exciting things are happening on Live with Kelly and Mark lately. Every day seems to come with another new announcement for fans.
The other day, Kelly and Mark announced that Live will host the famous After the Oscars show on March 11, 2024, from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Fans had just enough time to get over that move’s excitement and decide if a trip to LA was within the budget to sit in some of the same seats celebrities sat in the night before. Maybe some stardust will rub off on the audience.
This time, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were eager to share that the show is teaming up with a new theater, the BleauLive Theater, for four shows over two days.
This is coming up even quicker than the After the Oscars Party show. It is February 26-27, and the audience can get tickets to the show if they want.

Actor Woody Harrelson made a name for himself by starring in the hit television series Cheers. But he figured the classic sitcom might be the peak of his career after he couldn’t find any more work.
Woody Harrelson couldn’t find acting work for years while starring in ‘Cheers’ Woody Harrelson | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Before he was known for his film career, Harrelson was recognized for his work as Woody Boyd in the 1980s sitcom Cheers. Ironically, the actor wasn’t completely sold on lending his talents to the small screen. But he auditioned for the role, anyway.
“I was 23, and I kind of had an idea that I didn’t want to do television because I generally didn’t like the quality,” Harrelson told The Hollywood Reporter in a 2017 interview.
Harrelson revealed that his Cheers audition successfully, and perhaps surprisingly, convinced the casting director that he suited the role.

Last month, Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro put out a call to the public, asking people to send ideas for music by Latin artists to submit to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. It’s part of a years-long effort on Castro’s part to get more Latin art preserved within the Library of Congress and to increase Latino representation across media and pop culture.
The National Recording Registry is made up of works considered “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” or that “inform or reflect life in the United States.

Indecent Proposal, a 1993 American erotic drama film, was released in 1993. It stars Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore, and Robert Redford in lead roles. The film explores moral dilemmas in a very non-traditional way and that’s exactly why it was a controversial release back then. It still is perceived as controversial but the film certainly has more respect today than it did three decades ago. This article dives into Indecent Proposal’s theme, plot, characters, and investigates if the movie has had any significant cultural impact. From an eagle’s eye view, the movie delves into the complexities of human relationships and...

Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff, one half of the rap duo Timbaland & Magoo who had a hit “Up Jumps Da Boogie” from their platinum 1997 debut album Welcome to Our World, has died at 50. Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley and others confirmed the news on social media but did not give details.
Timbaland & Magoo met as teenagers in Norfolk, Va and broke out with “Up Jumps Da Boogie,” which featured Missy Elliott and Aaliyah and reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It made the Top 5 of the R&b chart as the album rose to No. 33. Another single from the disc, “Clock Strikes,” reached the pop Top 40 and No. 24 on the R&b tally.
The duo’s follow-up album, 2001’s Indecent Proposal, peaked at No. 29 and sold more than 350,000 copies but failed to spawn a chart single. That came after their track “We At It Again” was featured on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack in 2000.

Gather ’round, kids, and let’s tell a tale of a time long ago, when movie screens weren’t filled with just superheroes and special effects. A time when parents policed what you were watching for fear of an awkward conversation.
We’re referring, of course, to sex.
From “Basic Instinct” and “Eyes Wide Shut” to “Body Double,” “Risky Business” and “9 ½ Weeks,” on-screen nookie was once a staple of cinema, as much a part of the moviegoing experience as buttered popcorn.
But Hollywood has been strangely celibate for at least the last decade. There are no specific statistics on the declining rate of sex scenes in movies: The closest TheWrap could find was a 2022 report that found R-rated features, where you often found sex scenes, had dipped to a mere 30% share of releases. But if you look at films in theaters today, even R-rated ones like “Joker” and “It,...

Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Woody Harrelson first hit our screens as the somewhat simple but always friendly bartender in Cheers. But since then he has gone on the become a favorite of the big screen, with appearances in Indecent Proposal, Natural Born Killers, and more recently Seven Ponds with Will Smith.
But in between starring in some of recent cinema’s most memorable movies, Harrelson has also become known as an environmental activist who is not scared to go out on a limb to save the planet.
He once scaled the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco with members of North Coast Earth First! group to unfurl a banner that read, “Aren’t ancient redwoods more precious than gold?” and traveled the American West Coast on a bike and domino caravan with a hemp oil-fueled biodiesel bus.

Remember erotic thrillers? They’re back — in streaming prestige series form. “Fatal Attraction,” the Paramount+ series remake of Adrian Lyne’s 1987 film, will premiere its first two episodes April 30, the streamer announced out of its Television Critics Association press conference on January 9.
The original film, based on screenwriter James Dearden’s 1980 short film “Devotion,” stars Glen Close as Alex Forrest, a woman who has a brief affair with lawyer Dan Gallagher (played by Michael Douglas). Suffering from some sort of mental illness, Alex refuses to accept Dan’s attempts to end their weekend-long relationship and stalks him, becoming a threat to him and his family.
The film generated some controversy at the time of its release, primarily for its sexual content as well as accusations of sexism in its portrayal of Alex, but it was a financial success, grossing 320 million at the box office, and receiving six nominations at the Oscars,...

2022 marked a very complex year for the ever-raging streaming wars. While consumers pondered which of their many subscriptions to finally cancel, HBO Max got busy purging its library, Netflix made preparations to crack down on password sharing, and Peacock tried bulking up to finally spark some interest. Meanwhile, the House of Mouse is still experimenting with the best of both worlds, uniting sister services Disney+ and Hulu with shared titles and bundle deals. Which of the streaming services is triumphing above the others remains up for debate, but for better or worse, they'll certainly continue to evolve until they successfully trample the competition.
One of the most exciting signs of change came from Hulu, which sought to bolster its library with more original titles, exclusive to the service. That mission was certainly accomplished, in large part thanks to a partnership with 20th Century Studios, the Disney subsidiary that announced a...

It might have taken 100 years but since the Me Too movement, Hollywood has become more sensitive to the production of intimate scenes. Today you have intimacy coordinators on set to ensure that all parties feel comfortable with a scene, and in some cases improve them. And after you hear Woody Harrelson talk about his experiences in the 1993 film "Indecent Proposal" you understand why intimacy coordinators are needed on every set.
"Indecent Proposal" is an erotic thriller where a billionaire (Robert Redford) offers a struggling young architect (Harrelson) a million dollars to spend one night with his wife (Demi Moore). The movie quickly joined the pop culture lexicon as a proxy for the question, "What would you do for the right amount of money?" It also stands as a monument for a dying sub-genre, the erotic thriller, and what it often meant for female actors in Hollywood.

Isabella Rossellini may have bared it all in beloved films like David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet” and Robert Zemeckis’ “Death Becomes Her,” but the actress is grateful not to have been cast in Nsfw classic “9 1/2 Weeks.”
Rossellini auditioned and screen-tested for the 1986 psychosexual drama about an intoxicatingly toxic relationship; ultimately, Kim Basinger was cast opposite Mickey Rourke. “Fatal Attraction,” “Indecent Proposal,” and “Deep Water” director Adrian Lyne helmed the feature.
“After seeing the film, in a way, I was happy I was not chosen,” Rossellini revealed to Vulture. “I thought that Adrian’s films were a little exploitative.”
She continued, “I thought it was not very deep. His films are a little exploitative. I was lucky not to be chosen. Sometimes God helps me. I may not help myself, but God does.”

"Don't Worry Darling" stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as a married couple living a seemingly idyllic life. But when Pugh's Alice starts to question what's going on below the surface, tensions come to a head, and everything changes.
Director Olivia Wilde gave a huge preview of "Don't Worry Darling" at CinemaCon back in April 26, praising Pugh's and Styles's work in the film. Wilde also joked about Styles, calling him "an up-and-coming actor with no other career that I'm aware of." She said the singer is "truly a revelation" in the movie.
Meanwhile, Wilde called Pugh "brilliant, sexy, fierce, and tough," noting, "We knew this movie would live or die off her role." Wilde added, "You are witnessing the birth of a full-fledged movie star."
Styles opened up about filming sex scenes for the movie back in April. He explained, "All I can say from my own experience is I...

Olivia Wilde revealed the original trailer for “Don’t Worry Darling” was too wild for the Motion Pictures Association.
The preview for the 1950s-set psychological thriller featured Florence Pugh and Harry Styles entangled in a myriad of compromising sexual positions, with their throbbing marital desire culminating in cunnilingus on the kitchen table. Yet director Wilde shared that the MPA cut out the truly tantalizing sequences from the R-rated feature, in theaters September 23.
“Oh, yeah. There’s a lot that had to be taken out of the trailer,” Wilde told the Associated Press ahead of the “Don’t Worry Darling” world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. “The MPA came down hard on me and the trailer at the last second and I had to cut some shots, which I was upset about because I thought they took it up another notch.”
Wilde speculated the drastic cuts were due to “Don’t Worry Darling” releasing in the U.

In a little under two months, all eyes will be on the star-studded cast of "Don't Worry Darling" when the much-anticipated film makes its theatrical debut. After the wildfire success of "Booksmart," the second directorial effort from Olivia Wilde was always destined to drum up buzz. The more we learned about the upcoming film, the better it started to sound. A 1950s-set psychological thriller by way of "Fatal Attraction" and "Indecent Proposal" and a little of "The Stepford Wives" thrown in for good measure? Yes, please! Just knowing the premise was enough, but then came the cast, which includes Florence Pugh,...

With its list of new releases for July 2022, HBO Max is stepping up its TV game. Not that any entity associated with “It’s Not TV, It’s HBO” would ever not bring the televised goods, but the small screen is of particular consequence this month.
The middle of July is jam-packed with TV goodies like docuseries The Anarchists (July 10), rescued animated project Tuca & Bertie season 3 (July 11), and the latest Nathan Fielder creation The Rehearsal (July 15). The real heavy hitter arrives later on though. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin premieres on July 28 and will introduce the next generation of the Pll franchise. It doesn’t have a release date yet but July will also host season 3 of the delightful Harley Quinn at some point.
HBO Max’s movie offerings aren’t as deep this month. The Bob’s Burgers Movie (July 12) and We Met In Virtual Reality (July 27) are really the only originals of note.

What’s “Sex and the City” without sex?
Back in 1998, there was no such thing as an intimacy coordinator, and Kim Cattrall really bared all as PR maven-slash-token sexpot Samantha. In fact, Cattrall turned down the role three times at then-age 42. “I didn’t think I could do it,” Cattrall explained in a new Variety interview.
Of course, after years of playing the iconic character, Cattrall now has a new stipulation: “I don’t want to be nude anymore. I’m just not interested. I feel like I filled my quota on that one — and without an intimacy coach.”
Cattrall recalled “Satc” love scenes including “someone from the wardrobe department holding a housecoat for you when they said ‘cut’ or putting a towel over you” between takes. And famed costume designer Patricia Field apparently made a special device to hide Cattrall’s genitals.

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for “Don’t Worry Darling,” Olivia Wilde’s new psychological thriller starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. The trailer first debuted at CinemaCon but is now available online. Pugh plays Alice, a housewife in an experimental utopian community married to Jack, who is played by Styles. Alice’s live unravels after she learns the disturbing truth behind her loving husband’s glamorous company.
Along with Pugh and Styles, the star-studded cast includes Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Sydney Chandler and Nick Kroll. Wilde will also play a supporting role on top of directing the film. Though Pugh will be the main character in the film, the film is notable for marking Styles’ first lead acting role outside of “One Direction”-related content. The 28-year-old pop star, who received three nominations and one win at the 2021 Grammys for his album “Fine Line,” had a small part in 2017’s “Dunkirk.

“Don’t Worry” cinephiles, Olivia Wilde’s latest film is just as visually stunning as its brief teaser hinted.
An extended look at “Don’t Worry Darling” starring Florence Pugh as a 1950s housewife who grows suspicious of her utopian suburb debuted at 2022 CinemaCon in Las Vegas during the Warner Bros. Discovery panel. The film is slated for a September 23 theatrical release. Harry Styles, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan also star.
Director Wilde revealed that 18 studios were trying to land “Don’t Worry Darling” but she opted for Warner Bros and New Line because the studios “made one thing very clear: This would be a movie for movie theaters.”
After making her directorial debut with critically-acclaimed “Booksmart” in 2019, Wilde collaborated again with co-screenwriter Katie Silberman for “Don’t Worry,” based on an original script by the Van Dyke brothers.
Darren Aronofsky’s longtime director of photography Matthew Libatique serves as cinematographer for the film...

Nearly 200 episodes and a dozen-plus seasons in, Karina Longworth’s indispensable film-centric podcast “You Must Remember This” only continues to excavate “the secret and/or forgotten histories of Hollywood’s first century.” In her newest season, which kicked off with an informative introductory episode on Tuesday, Longworth aims to explore a particular subset of films from the ’80s and ’90s: the kind of “erotic” offerings that most studios stopped churning out years ago.
And while most people might be thinking “erotic thrillers,” Longworth’s insightful podcast reaches far beyond that particular sub-genre. Set to be released in two parts — “Erotic ’80s” this spring, with “Erotic ’90s” to follow in the fall, though Longworth said she considers the entire run to be one complete season — most episodes will focus on a single year at the movies, with a particular focus on a key film released that year.

"Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power."Oscar Wilde Adrian Lyne makes erotic films that aspire to be respectable, the kind of movies that barely exist anymore in this age of mainstream geek culture. Lyne's films are about sex, yes, but they're classy, made for adults. Think of Glenn Close and Michael Douglas discussing Madame Butterfly between romps in the sack in Fatal Attraction, an R-rated film that was nominated for six Oscars and the top grossing film of 1987; or Jeremy Irons charming us as an insidiously eloquent writer helplessly smitten with a young girl in Lolita (1997), or the handsome bookseller (Olivier Martinez) wooing an unhappy housewife (Diane Lane) in Unfaithful (2002). Lyne makes movies that want to be taken seriously, never veering into camp, though they can be quite funny, like Michael Douglas hobbling around with Glenn Close in his arms and his pants around his ankles.

Tracy Letts seems to have no regrets in being involved with “Deep Water,” Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas’ erotic thriller that left many viewers bewildered when it premiered on Hulu in the U.S. on March 18. The film, with its narrative corkscrews, blunt cuckolding and odd character quirks involving snails and lobster bisque, was largely rejected by critics and threw social media into a frenzy upon its debut.
Though its streaming release may have made it seem like the peculiar movie emerged from thin air, “Deep Water” is the latest entry in a tradition of preposterous erotic thrillers for Adrian Lyne. The director could be considered synonymous with the genre, having helmed such staples as “Fatal Attraction,” “Indecent Proposal” and “Unfaithful.” “Deep Water” marks his first directorial effort in two decades.
In a discussion with Variety, Letts recalled his excitement over the opportunity to work with Lyne.

It's about time we see Latinas on screen playing more complex and dynamic roles. Cuban actress Ana de Armas's role as Melinda in "Deep Water" certainly fits that description, although her character has me thinking maybe I should be a little more careful what I wish for. In Hulu's latest thriller, she's unhappily married to Vin, played by Ben Affleck. They may have a precious young daughter, a big beautiful house, and the fortune to go with it, but Melinda and Vin exist in a psychological thriller, and things are not good - especially when Adrian Lyne is the director. Lyne is the guy who made "Fatal Attraction" and "Indecent Proposal," and he came out of a 20-year retirement to direct this film, which is all to say, despite having all the trappings of a beautiful life, Melinda and Vin are deeply disturbed.

There’s nothing sexier than a director providing commentary for a sex scene, right?
“Deep Water” auteur Adrian Lyne confirmed that his method behind erotic thrillers like “9 1/2 Weeks,” “Fatal Attraction,” and “Indecent Proposal” includes cheering on actors during intimate sequences.
Demi Moore wrote in her 2019 memoir “Inside Out” that while filming a sex scene with co-star Woody Harrelson for “Indecent Proposal,” director Lyne “literally didn’t stop talking, practically hollering, the whole time.”
“Lyne would cry things like ‘Fucking raunchy!’ and ‘Oh god, got a boner on that!'” Moore wrote, as reported by The Independent. “Here was this guy getting all sweaty and worked up, yelling about boners. But once I got used to it, I saw its advantages: having Adrian carry on that way took the focus off my own awkwardness.”
Lyne responded in the interview, acknowledging that he does in fact become very captivated on set.

Guess what, gastropod enthusiasts? Ben Affleck's character in "Deep Water" likes snails as much as you do. In fact, Vic Van Allen (Affleck) seems to like hanging out with his pet snails even more than he enjoys watching other men have sex with his wife Melinda (Ana de Armas). In "Deep Water," the latest film from Adrian Lyne (best known for erotic thrillers like "Fatal Attraction" and "Indecent Proposal"), there are several scenes with Vic handling, washing, and ogling his little mollusk buddies. Reactions to the film itself have been mixed, but apparently, everyone is a fan of the snails, with critics praising the weirdness of their inclusion in their...

The Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas-starring Deep Water definitely feels like a throwback to a different time – one that specifically hit its peak before erotic entertainment was easy to access online. Erotic thrillers used to be a dime a dozen in the 80s and 90s, and they would often make a significant amount of cash at the box office, as audiences filled seats upon the mere suggestion that they would get to see notable movie stars doing salacious things to each other onscreen. But this type of project is now a very rare event in the mid-budget arena, and Deep Water has certainly got people reminiscing about the way things used to be.
Deep Water itself is helmed by Adrian Lyne, famous for the likes of 9½ Weeks, Fatal Attraction, and Indecent Proposal, and he shepherded it into fruition after a twenty year absence from the director’s chair.

“Deep Water,” the new erotic thriller starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, is finally on Hulu after a series of missed theatrical release dates.
The first film in 20 years from British provocateur Adrian Lyne, is very much worth your time – an exploration of the dynamics of marriage as much as a tense, white-knuckle thriller. (This isn’t exactly a calming watch.) And it’s got an ending, much like Lyne’s unforgettable endings for, say, “Fatal Attraction” or “Jacob’s Ladder,” that you will be discussing long after. Which is what we’re going to be doing!

‘Deep Water’ Director Compares Film’s Sex Scenes to ‘Fatal Attraction’: ‘It’s Not Quite So Easy Now’
Filmmaker Adrian Lyne is best known for directing erotic thrillers like “9 1/2 Weeks,” “Indecent Proposal” and “Fatal Attraction,” but when he made his return to the big screen for the first time in 20 years for “Deep Water,” he found the process of filming sex scenes had changed significantly.
The new 20th Century Studios film, which debuted on Hulu on Friday, is a sexually charged dramatic thriller starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas as a married couple. But in an interview with Collider, Lyne got candid about his philosophy when it comes to shooting sex scenes.
“You feel like you’re doing it with them. Even with the sex scenes, I’m a little bit like a cheerleader,” Lyne told Collider about his directorial process during intimate sequences. “I have the horror of imagining these poor people going at it in silence and not knowing whether they look good...

Adrian Lyne, the director known for movies like Fatal Attraction, Flashdance, Indecent Proposal, and 9 1/2 Weeks, hadn’t made a movie in nearly 20 years before starting work on an adaptation of the 1950s suspense novel Deep Water. His return to filmmaking represented an opportunity to Ben Affleck, who’s become a respected director in his […]

The last erotic thriller to heat up the box office was Unfaithful (2002), featuring Diane Lane as a woman engaged in a dangerous affair. The film was directed by Adrian Lyne, the king of tawdry spectacle who also directed Fatal Attraction (1987), 9 ½ weeks (1986), and Indecent Proposal (1993). It made nearly $120 million at the global box office and earned Lane an Academy Award® nomination. Now, Lyne is back with his first film in two decades, the psychological thriller Deep Water.
Unfaithful, however, remains the last mainstream erotic thriller to receive a theatrical release, as the pandemic shuffle has relegated Deep Water to a Hulu exclusive. Starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, who were a couple when filming began back in 2019, the film would likely have made a bit of a splash in theaters. An unapologetic bit of salaciousness starring a real-life celebrity couple is a hard ticket for many to pass by,...

"Deep Water" is a genuine instance where the old adage "They don't make 'em like they used to" applies all too well. Based on the novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith, best known for her stories about the sociopathic Tom Ripley, "Deep Water" is a blend of internal character study and trashy erotica that hasn't been a common type of adult drama since the mid-1990s. And who better to direct the film than perhaps the directorial master of such films as "Fatal Attraction," "Indecent Proposal," and "9 1/2 Weeks," Adrian Lyne? Returning behind the camera for the first time in nearly two decades, Lyne has...

Sure, this is a TV Watch List, but this week the emphasis is on the movies, with seemingly more must-watch features than the last few months in the theater combined. From a steamy new thriller with Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, to a movie where renegade ice skaters transport goods across a frozen body of water to a thriller starring Jesse Plemons, Lily Collins and Jason Segel, this week really does have a stellar line-up of new movies. Plus shows starring Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson and Jake Johnson.

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas Navigate Sex, Infidelity and Murder in New ‘Deep Water’ Trailer (Video)
The official trailer for the new psychological thriller “Deep Water” has arrived, in which Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas play a married couple with some serious troubles.
The 20th Century Studios film is based on the novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith and hails from “Indecent Proposal,” “Fatal Attraction” and “9 1/2 Weeks” director Adrian Lyne. Affleck plays Vic, a husband who is becoming increasingly perturbed by his wife’s open philandering, while de Armas plays Vic’s flirtatious and cunning wife Melinda. Things take a bloody turn at a party when a body turns up in the pool.
The film boasts a screenplay by Zach Helm (“Stranger Than Fiction”) and “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson.
“Deep Water” was a bit in limbo after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, as the film was shot back in 2019 and its seriously R-rated nature is not exactly befitting a streaming service like Disney+.

This husband and wife will do anything not to be a cookie-cutter suburban couple.
The latest trailer for “Deep Water” shows Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas playing Vic and Melinda Allen, respectively, a seemingly perfect couple who dabble in dangerous mind games that may or may not lead to murder. When Vic is left watching Melinda flaunting extramarital relationships, one supposed lover winds up floating face-down in their pool.
“It’s always been a game,” Melinda warns her spouse. Well, anything to stave off domestic boredom.
And it turns out Vic just can’t get enough of Melinda’s intriguing dark side. “Why are you the only man who wants to stay with me?” Melinda asks, to which Vic can only assure her — and later, his friends — that Melinda constantly keeps him guessing, which seems to be the sexiest game of all.
