- [first lines]
- Narrator: A long time ago, people thought the world was flat, and if you sailed uncharted waters, you might just fall over the edge into space. Now this may seem strange to us now, but in those days, no one knew what lay over the far horizon. But with pirates and hurricanes and sea monsters to contend with, it was a very dangerous voyage. But in 1492, there appeared an Italian navigator, a man with a revolutionary idea: He thought the world was... square. And his name was... Christopher Columbus.
- Queen Isabella: [Angrily comes bursting into the throne room] Ferdi!
- King Ferdinand IV: [Panics, quickly jumps out of the large throne and onto the smaller one] What is it darling? What a pleasant surprise. What're you doing up so early?
- Queen Isabella: All your lousy screaming woke me up!
- [She notices Columbus and instantly becomes enamored]
- Queen Isabella: Oh! Who's this?
- Christopher Columbus: Hello!
- King Ferdinand IV: [Coming down the stairs towards them] No one dear. Just another "genius".
- Queen Isabella: What? I don't believe you. He's much too handsome.
- [gives a kiss on Columbus's cheek]
- Christopher Columbus: Oh, but I am a genius, your Greatness.
- Queen Isabella: [Continues flirting with Columbus, making him appear lovestruck] Fascinating! So tell me, what can little Issy do for you?
- Christopher Columbus: Oh, I forget!
- Pico: [Annoyed] Hey! Snap out of it and ask her about the ships!
- Christopher Columbus: [Comes back to senses] What? Oh, yes yes, right! I need three ships, your majesty.
- Queen Isabella: Three ships?
- Christopher Columbus: Uh huh.
- Queen Isabella: Are you going away? But you only just got here!
- [Starts coming towards him with her arms out, making Columbus backstep]
- Christopher Columbus: Yes, yes I found a new route to go get...
- [trips over the king who was standing behind him]
- Christopher Columbus: Spices. Gold. Jewelry!
- Queen Isabella: Ooh jewelry! Why didn't you say so? We've got too many lousy ships anyway!
- King Ferdinand IV: W-well, I really think you...
- [the queen cuts him off]
- Queen Isabella: Shut up!
- [Takes off one of her golden ship earrings]
- Queen Isabella: And you'll need money, of course. Maybe this will help!
- [She hands it to Columbus who gladly takes it]
- Christopher Columbus: It will! Oh, your majesty, what a lovely symbolic...
- [King Ferdinand jumps up and swipes the earring]
- King Ferdinand IV: Not so fast! I just happen to know, your compass is out of whack, Señor!
