Reba McEntire is returning to the sitcom world — and reuniting with the team behind her last two comedies as well. NBC has given a pilot order to an untitled multi-camera comedy starring McEntire, who will also executive produce.
The show, from Universal Studio Group’s Universal TV division, stars McEntire as a woman who “inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.” Kevin Abbott is the writer and exec producer, while Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis and Julie Abbott are non-writing exec producers.
It’s a reunion for most of the group, who previously worked together on McEntire’s signature series for The WB, “Reba,” as well as her follow-up sitcom for ABC, “Malibu Country.” Hanel and Schultheis were exec producers for the entire run of “Reba,” while Abbott joined after the...

Holly Robinson Peete’s departure from “The Masked Singer” left a sour taste in her mouth. During the latest episode of “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” Kelly Ripa’s podcast with SiriusXM, the “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper” and “21 Jump Street” star revealed she was “so pissed” by her departure.
“I really thought I killed it the second week. In my mind, I never sang better,” Peete said. “And then the makeup artist was like, ‘Would you like sparkles on your face tonight?’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s bad design.’ Because in other words, I knew I was getting unmasked.”
By now it’s common knowledge that “The Masked Singer” takes its contestants’ secrecy very seriously. The show requires a tidal wave of NDAs every season. Peete even said that her kids had to sign NDAs and joked that her dogs “had to put a paw print” on a form.

Two all new celebrities in disguise took on returning champ Fairy for “Country Night” on Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.” After a performance of “Angel from Montgomery” by Bonnie Raitt, Fairy advanced to the Battle Royale where she got her wings clipped by Macaw. The magical performer pulled off her mask to reveal actress, author and host Holly Robinson Peete. Panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger were flabbergasted that none of them were able to guess Fairy’s identity.
“How did you guys not know? I cannot believe it!” exclaimed Holly during her unmasked interview with host Nick Cannon. “I feel like I know everybody on that panel and nobody knew!” When asked why she wanted to be part of “The Masked Singer,” the entertainer responded, “I’ve always sort of been a closet singer. Holly Robinson Peete’s career is anchored by full-circle moments. So it’s pretty fitting that her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is also pillared by a blast from the past.
“I got very emotional, and I thought about my mom driving me across the country when I was 9 years old from Philadelphia in search of a better life,” she tells Variety. “I thought of her becoming a personal manager and signing her first client, LeVar Burton. She was the Og momager and she is absolutely the reason why I’m getting this star.”
Fast forward to June 21 and Burton is one of the people speaking on Peete’s behalf when she receives that star. “I can’t wait to hear him speak on the 11-year-old Holly,” she adds.
Growing up, Peete was always around actors. Her mother, Dolores Robinson, represented clients including Martin Sheen, Pierce Brosnan, Wesley Snipes, Rosie Perez and Michael Clarke Duncan.

Team Cuddly’s Space Bunny finished in third place and was revealed to be Grammy-winning entertainer Shaggy. Next it was Team Bad’s Queen Cobra who was unmasked after a rendition of “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic. The trio was revealed to be funky divas En Vogue.
“This is a special moment for me,” said panelist Robin Thicke after he saw the Grammy-nominated group unmasked. When I was growing up I studied the harmonies, I watched the videos. Your voices, your records, those harmonies, they stand up to the test of time. Thank you so much for blessing us by coming on this show.”

The most powerful singer so far on “The Masked Singer” season 7 is masquerading as Queen Cobra. While a half dozen cobras appeared on the stage on April 20, only one of them sang “Good as Hell” by Lizzo. But we think that this is a red herring as we are convinced that the soloist is actually one of many in a group. We were proven right on April 27 when many of the Queen Cobras on-stage joined together to sing “I Say a Little Prayer For You” by Aretha Franklin. Keep reading for all “The Masked Singer” spoilers including the answer to the question, “Who is Queen Cobra”?
We think that the Queen Cobra is En Vogue, with Cindy Herron in the solo spotlight for that first appearance. There is just no mistaking her distinctive voice. But remember, we were shown a visual of a pair of Queen cobras, which seems to...

Good Times star Johnny Brown, who played housing project superintendent Nathan Bookman on the hit ’70s series, has died. He was 84.
The actor’s death was confirmed by his family on Instagram. “Our family is devastated,” his daughter Sharon Catherine wrote. “We respectfully ask for privacy at this time because we need a minute to process the unthinkable. To articulate the depths of profound sadness… It’s too terrible. It will never not be. It’s a shock. He was literally snatched out of our lives. It’s not real for us yet… Dad was the absolute best. We love him so very much.

Black culture's global influence can never be overstated. But in 1992 - a year that set the stage for further innovation in pop culture and social justice - our impact was at an all-time high. To complement Popsugar's expansive timeline that tracks '92, we gathered some of the top journalists in the industry - Vibe veterans Danyel Smith, John Kennedy, and Datwon Thomas, writer Sowmya Krishnamurthy, and Popsugar editors - for a Twitter Space conversation on the defining year.
"When I took a really good look at 1992, it just became clear to me how effective a year that was."
During the hour-long dialogue on Feb. 15, we gave flowers to all the music, movies, TV shows, and fashion staples from 1992 that greatly influenced us. "When I took a really good look at 1992, it just became clear to me how effective a year that was," Popsugar features director Iyana Robertson says, kicking off the conversation.

Eleven months in to 2021, and Warner Bros. movie streaming strategy on HBO Max is still going strong. Now the list of new releases for November 2021 on HBO Max is highlighted by yet another big ticket film.
King Richard, starring Will Smith, is set to arrive on HBO Max and in theaters on Nov. 19. Smith is already getting some early awards buzz for the role so Oscar-heads may want to check this one out.

November is a good month for saying goodbye on HBO Max. The streaming platform will host the final 2021 episodes of HBO late-night staples “Real Time with Bill Maher” and the Emmy Award-winning “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” the season finales of Max originals “Love Life” and “Doom Patrol,” and also provide home viewers their last opportunity to watch “Dune” on HBO Max until sometime in 2022 (“Dune” leaves HBO Max on November 21).
But beyond those conclusions, there are some huge premieres as well: Oscar contender “King Richard” arrives on November 19 with Will Smith in the lead role, the back-half of “Gossip Girl” Season 1 will make its debut at some point, and the HBO Music Box series continues with the Alanis Morrisette documentary “Jagged” (which the singer roundly criticized) and a new feature on Dmx. All of that content, plus a number of library classics, including but not limited to “Moonstruck,...

Raven-Symoné has had a rough go of it, as of late. The former child star (The Cosby Show! Hangin' With Mr. Cooper!), former young-adult star (That's So Raven! The Cheetah Girls!), and former innocuous cultural also-ran (Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue? Revenge of the Bridesmaids?) joined the permanent cast of The View in June and ... well, let's just say the past few months have not been so Raven. She keeps putting her foot in her mouth with controversial political and personal statements, and we can't help but wonder: How would young Raven, so innocent and wide-eyed, feel about the life she would someday make? Just as Michelle from Full House once appeared on Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, so too did Blake Shelton show up for last night's SNL/The Voice crossover episode. It's synergy, baby! Looking like a slightly deflated Nick Offerman (he's referred to, correctly, as a "metrosexual lumberjack" at one point), Shelton serves as both host and musical guest in a mostly mediocre hour and a half of show. Like so many musicians who aren't Justin Timberlake, the goal here seems to be to get this guy next to a guitar whenever possible and prop him up with funnier people. Light chuckles abound, and while there are no serious clunkers in sight, man is this episode vanilla. (It's the most vanilla. It's vanilla bean.) In one sketch, Shelton plays a disbelieving audience member instantly converted by a magician, which is pretty much the opposite reaction I had to my initial skepticism toward...
