The Puppet Master horror film franchise has had a long run! Today we have the trailer for the 11th film in the franchise, Puppet Master: Axis Termination, and depending on how you feel about the franchise, this new movie could look good or it could look like a piece of trash.
I actually enjoyed watching the first few movies in the franchise. They were kinda fun, but I stopped watching after Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge. It's not that I didn't like watching the films because I did. I enjoyed the campiness of them. I just stopped keeping up with them and now they are up to eleven movies! There's obviously a market for these films.
Puppet Master: Axis Termination looks exactly like what I would expect from the film. Here's the synopsis:

From legendary cult filmmaker David DeCoteau (Puppet Master III, Sorority Babes in the Slime Ball Bowl-o-Rama) and producer Charles Band (Re-Animator) comes one the most beloved B-horror/fantasy films of the 1980s (at least for me)… Creepozoids – which finally comes to Blu-ray from Full Moon Features.
Blending key elements of genre hits Mad Max and Alien (while also incorporating elements of Band’s Parasite and Metalstorm) but produced on a tenth of their budgets, Creepozoids tells the tale of five Army deserters who wander the post-apocalyptic, post-industrial La landscape seeking shelter from an increasingly toxic environment and poisonous rain. They end up in an abandoned laboratory where they explore, have sex and eventually run afoul of a cavalcade of genetically engineered creatures including mutant rats, a monstrous baby, a massive, bloodthirsty H.R. Giger-esque beast…and something even more malevolent.

Like most pre-teens and teenagers who grew up with spending their weekend nights at the video store picking out what films you were going to watch over the weekend, I watched a lot of Full Moon films. While there were plenty of franchises out of the Full Moon universe, the one that stuck with me was the Puppet Master franchise. I think Puppet Master III is the best entry with the latest entries severely lacking in progressing and getting to the point of saying “who cares”.
Last year, at Fantastic Fest, I saw the closing night film, Bone Tomahawk starring Kurt Russell and was blown away by it. I would later find out the man who wrote and directed the film wrote a independent film called Asylum Blackout. That man is S. Craig Zahler. This past weekend was Texas Frightmare Weekend in Dallas, TX and some interesting news came out...

Since its inception in 1989, the Puppet Master series has been one of my go-to horror series. With classic characters like Blade, Jester, Pinhead, Tunneler and Leech Woman the Full Moon franchise was a staple of my video-store youth and a staple of my home cinema collection today. And now the series is returning for yet another installment – the 11th – once again directed by Charles Band, Puppet Master: Axis Termination.<
Set in Berlin during World War II, Puppet Master: Axis Termination continues the Axis Trilogy, which began with Puppet Master: Axis of Evil and Puppet Master: Axis Rising. – all of which are set in the same time period as David DeCoteau’s classic Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge.
With Band currently running a crowdfunding campaign for Puppet Master: Axis Termination , the Full Moon founder has released some fantastic new promo artwork. Check it out below:...

I can’t wait for this release to finally come to fruition. It has been a long time since I have seen Stuart Gordon’s magical killer dolls film, so when Scream Factory announced it, they had my attention immediately. This is a “Collector’s Edition” so it looks as if it is getting the appropriate treatment. The artwork has been revealed, and the extras exposed. There appears to be a good mixture of both old and new. Including, but not limited to - all-new retrospective featuring interviews with director Stuart Gordon, producer Brian Yuzna, stars Carolyn Purdy-Gordon, Ian Patrick Williams, executive producer Charles Band, and special make-Up effects artists Gabe Bartalos, andJohn Vulich and more! Check out the press release below, and pre-order your copy by either clicking here for Shout!’s website, or here for Amazon.

Once long thought dead, Puppetmaster: Axis of Evil resurrects the franchise and tries to re-capture the spirit of what many consider the high point in the series – the World War 2 set third film, Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge. If you grew up in the 80s, you remember the first time you watched Halloween and Friday the 13th; you remember how dark the room was, how the popcorn tasted, and how many times you almost peed your pants from fear. You also probably remember the first time you saw Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator and From Beyond. Call me crazy, but I have much more vivid memories of watching Gordon’s not-so-popular horror gem, Dolls (1987). Picture this: during an all-girls sleepover in the heart of suburbia, my friends and I walked to the video rental store with a few dollars. While browsing endless titles, out of the corner of my eye, I caught the front cover of Dolls on VHS with the skeletal doll holding her gouged eyeballs – I couldn’t resist. That night I became the bravest girl in the fourth grade; I stayed up to watch Dolls alone in the dark,...

Charles Band's Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge takes the series in an exciting new direction. Although there seem to be story contradictions, the third entry gives viewers the chance to see the events spoken of in parts one and two unfold before their very eyes. The puppets we've come to fear suddenly take a turn towards good as they become tools for taking out Nazi soldiers and officers. For a B-movie, the sets and locations used look and feel authentic.
In 1941, a doctor named Hess is attempting to produce a serum that will re-animate dead soldiers to march on the frontline and give cover for the live ones in battle. He hears about a puppeteer named Toulon who uses stringless puppets in his performances. Upon investigating, Hess discovers Toulon has generated a potion that brings inanimate objects to life. Toulon's wife is killed by the Nazis and the puppeteer...

Veteran character actor Ian Abercrombie died January 26th at the age of 77. A long time theater actor, it wasn’t until the late 1950’s that he begun work on both TV and film here. His second wind came in the late 1970s when he started working steadily in genre projects like the original Battlestar Galactica, Ice Pirates , Warlock, Puppet Master III, Twin Peaks, Army of Darkness, Adams Family Values, Babylon 5, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Birds of Prey, where he played Alfred. He also provided voice work for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and last year’s Johnny Depp animated film Rango. His last projects include a recurring role on the recently ended Disney series The Wizards of Waverly Place.

The popular young-adult fantasy novel series by Michael Scott, The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, will be heading to the big screen as Lawless Entertainment will partner with the Australian based Ampco Films to adapt the first novel in the six-book series, The Alchemyst. If you got past the Puppet Master X part and are still reading, I'll weave you a tale of Nazis, my child...
Iron Sky is going to be the best movie ever made, by anyone, and that includes Citizen Kane.
Why? Because it is about Nazis. Any movie about Nazis that isn't Just about the Holocaust is an awesome, unforgettable enjoyment.
Iron Sky is a sci-fi/comedy directed by Timo Vuorensola and is due to come out in April 2012 in the United States. They say "theatrically" but... I mean, that's debatable. They might just be renting a theater for one night. Or who knows? Maybe this'll be one of those Paranormal Activity things and it ends up in your local $15-a-ticket Arclight scamhouse? In any case, it's screening at Berlinale (that's a fancy European film festival) in November 2012, so chances are reviews will be flying from that point.

We can’t promise anything, but the notorious David DeCoteau just might have delivered something slightly better than absolutely horrid with Snow White, A Deadly Summer, hitting DVD on March 12 from Lionsgate. DeCoteau is perhaps best known to fans as the mind behind minor D-classics like Creepazoids (’87), Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowl-a-rama (’88), and Puppet Master III (’91), but most recently he has been occupying himself with his “1313″ line, an abysmal series of homoerotic boys-in-underwear pseudo-genre flatliners.
So, the maestro of “eh, I guess it wasn’t as bad as it could have been” returns with Snow White, A Deadly Summer, for which he has actually assembled a decent roster in star Maureen (Return To Horror High, Brady Bunch) McCormick, lovely Shanley Caswell, and Eric Roberts (who must have been on leave from Syfy Network productions at the time). Most impressive is the feat of landing composer Harry (Friday The 13th) Manfredini to score the picture.

Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama, Assault of the Killer Bimbos, Dr. Alien, Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge, Ghost Writer, Circuitry Man, Creepozoids, Dream A Little Evil, Nightmare Sisters, etc. These are all films that 80's horror fans grew up watching either through USA's Up All Night, though Cinemax or Showtime, through their love of either Linnea Quigley or Brinke Stevens, or through looking through the seemingly endless shelves at the good old video stores of yesteryear. Royce Mathew was involved in every single one of these films functioning, as he put it himself, either through "custodial work and production assisting - to (in no order) writing, editing, costumes, props, art direction, construction, directing, producing, sound, special effects and publicity". We took a moment to pick apart Royce's brain on working on all these legendary B movies and then got a bit serious to let him discuss an ongoing legal...

I’ve long-been a fan of the Puppetmaster series, and Full Moon in general – even going as far as buying the ridiculously overpriced DVD boxset some years ago. Now comes the tenth movie (and ninth official sequel, Puppetmaster vs. Demonic Toys is not considered an official ‘canon’ movie fact fans) Puppetmaster: Axis of Evil…
Following Toulon’s death (as seen in Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge), physically disabled furniture maker Danny Coogan (Fiehler) finds a...

The 10th Puppet Master film, Axis of Evil, official synopsis has been released. If it wasn't obvious from the title, the puppets battle evil Nazis and a "beautiful Japanese saboteur" who plan to attack a secret American manufacturing plant. Axis of Evil is another prequel to the original Puppet Master and a sequel to Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge. Fans can expect the film in 2010. "In a stateside hotel during the height of World War II, young Danny Coogan dreams of joining the war effort. Following the murder of hotel guest Mr. Toulon by Nazi assassins, Danny finds the old man's crate of mysterious puppets and is suddenly thrust into a battle all his own. After his family is attacked and his girlfriend Beth is kidnapped, it is up...

Below are two behind the scenes videos from Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, and I noticed two things that made me very happy. First of all it looks like the movie is going to take place right after Andre Toulon's suicide in part one. So it is kind of a prequel to the original Puppet Master and a sequel to Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge . The first video shows how they recreated Toulon's hotel room from part 1, and I am pretty impressed on what a great job they did...

Our second stab at the Oscars contains make-up effects and score (read part 1 here). The make-up effects, followed by the visual effects and technical awards, remain my favorite parts of the show; here you got to see your heroes: Rick Baker, Howard Berger, Chris Walas or Rob Bottin in the audience. Even the great Stan Winston could have been out there, back in the day. Though best known for his “visual effects” wins—he brought home an Oscar for best make-up in 1991 for Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Here genre fans can rejoice, Greg Cannom brought home the gold, again, for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Cannom, a genre elder, worked alongside (just to name a few) Fincher, Coppola, Landis, Dante, Blatty, and Cohen creating all sorts of character and creature make-ups.
