Nicola Roberts has said that Girls Aloud did not have time to attempt to crack the Us market. The 'Lucky Day' singer, who recently released her debut solo album, told Rolling Stone that the girl group were too busy to take their material to America. "Honestly? We never had the time. The way we worked for eight years was simply 'album, cycle, tour, repeat'," Roberts said. "The hiatus we're on now is the first time we've broken that pattern. So, crossing over outside the UK just couldn't fit in on a practical level." Speaking about the much-discussed 10th anniversary reunion next year, she continued: "We're (more)...

Nicola Roberts has said that she did not make her debut solo album for "commercial reasons". The Girls Aloud singer put out Cinderella's Eyes yesterday, following the release of her second solo single 'Lucky Day'. Despite the track only charting at number 40, Roberts insisted that she was not focused on chart statistics. "You don't make music for commercial reasons. You make music because it's what you love to do," she told The Sun. "Not everybody can always like something. That's just the way it is. Maybe they'll like the next one better. That's how I look at it." Discussing Girls Aloud, the 25-year-old, who describes herself as a "perfectionist", (more)...

Nicola Roberts has insisted that claims Girls Aloud do not speak to Nadine Coyle are "b*llocks". The singer, who released her second solo single 'Lucky Day' this week, dismissed reports that herself, Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding have little to no touch with their bandmate. "All the stuff about us not speaking to each other is b*llocks. That's all I'm going to say on that," Roberts told Star magazine, before moving on to discuss the much-talked about potential 2012 reunion. "It's far too early for me to talk about it. But it is our ten-year anniversary next year - so watch this space," she said, branding reports of a performance at the London Olympics as "just press". On her bandmates, Roberts said that the group see each other "quite a lot" and (more)...

We’d never heard of Aperture Science until Portal was released, but now the company is just as popular as defense contractor Black Mesa itself. Wouldn’t it be exciting if there was some sort of document filling us in on Aperture Science’s history? Lucky day, Game Informer, who has been a great resource for Portal-related information in the past weeks, just put up Aperture Science: A History.
Aperture’s history is as surprising as it is informative. Did you know they’ve been developing portal technology since 1953? It’s true. Though their purpose suddenly turns nefarious in the mid 70s.
Here’s the first entry in Aperture Science: A History:
1953 – Aperture Science begins operations as a manufacturer of shower curtains. Early product line provides a very low-tech portal between the inside and outside of your shower. Very little science is actually involved. The name is chosen to make the curtains appear more hygienic.

Our pals at Opium have turned us onto a new animator, Alek Wasilewski, who is in the process of finishing his bebut short, a dystopian parable called Lucky Day Forever.
The film is set in the near future, where the futuristic nightmares of Orwell's 1984 meets Philip K Dick's penchant for presenting a world where nothing is quite what it seems. The hero of the story is 514 Prol, who is, well, a Prol who dreams of winning "The Great Lottery," to gain entry to the elite "Community of "White" - where people are eternally young, beautiful and happy.
One day his dream comes true, but is this indeed a place of dreams, or nightmares?
The film is in production with Miniature Film Studio in Warsaw actively looking for partners and co-producers for the project. You can learn more about the film on its official website and check out the trailer after the break.
