For more than two decades, Caveh Zahedi has been exploring his neuroses and desires in awkward, provocative detail. From his first feature "A Little Stiff" through 2005's "I Am a Sex Addict," the film diarist has proved to be an amusingly off-beat guide to his own life. That tendency may very well reach its apotheosis with "The Show About the Show," the irreverent meta web series that Zahedi launched this fall on the Brooklyn-based cable TV and digital network Bric TV. Read More: Why Comedian Chris Gethard, Public Access Alumni, Thinks Talk Shows Are All About the Games Now As the title implies, "The Show About the Show" remains within the confines of its meta premise, tracking its wayward protagonist as he pitches the program to a baffled Bric executive named Aziz (portrayed with a hilarious deadpan by filmmaker Dustin Defa). Zahedi's ensuing adventure finds him shooting a sex scene...

Lena Dunham Shares Her Love for 'I Am a Sex Addict' in Exclusive Excerpt From 'Digging My Own Grave'
Read More: Was Caveh Zahedi "Blacklisted" By Thom Powers? It's More Complicated Than That Anyone familiar with the idiosyncratic "Holy Moment" section in Richard Linklater's "Waking Life" will recall the wide-eyed character talking about film's ability to capture "God incarnate." But there's a lot more to the man at the center of that scene. Director Caveh Zahedi's personal, button-pushing projects have been infused with his energetic personality since 1990's "A Little Stiff," his first feature, in which he explores his attraction to a UCLA student. Over the years, Zahedi's filmography has chronicled many outrageous moments in his life, from 2003's "Tripping With Caveh," in which he took mushrooms with Wil Oldham, to 2012's "The Sheik and I," a meditation on free speech that followed Zahedi's ill-fated assignment to produce a subversive project for a Middle Eastern art festival. For years, Zahedi's work has been...

You may recall that a decade ago, the ever-independent-minded Caveh Zahedi (A Little Stiff, I Am a Sex Addict) tried to launch a series, “Tripping with Caveh,” in which he and a guest would take hallucinogens and enjoy themselves. That didn’t pan out, for reasons Zahedi explains in this essay, so now he’s launched a lower-stakes version. You can get stoned with Caveh or not, and in this first installment Girls regular/Red Flag director Alex Karpovsky chooses to indulge. Not without a little prodding: “Ok, so I’m gonna start getting stoned,” Zahedi says up top. “Maybe I’ll just wait a […]...

Harry Styles Is A Little Stiff: Taylor Swift and One Direction's Harry Styles are reportedly over - so enter Miley Cyrus, well sort of! Miley posted a photo of herself with a life-sized cardboard cutout version of the One Direction dreamboat cuddling in bed. The inanimate 1D fun didn't stop there, Miley's sister Noah also joined the cuddle-fest, Here! No word if Liam Hemsworth is jealous of the 1D singer (who is actually more 2-D).

In early March, one week shy of the SXSW Film Festival, I received a secure link to view "The Sheik and I" online. Set to premiere in competition at SXSW, this was the latest provocation from performance artist/filmmaker Caveh Zahedi, whose reputation precedes him: Using a diary-like approach to make audiences uncomfortably intimate with his rabble-rousing, intensely neurotic persona, Zahedi's antics stretch back more than 20 years: They began with his debut feature, "A Little Stiff," and continued with later works like 2005's self-explanatory "I Am a Sex Addict." Needless to say, I figured "The Sheik and I" would push some familiar buttons, but could not have predicted the series of conflicts that it would create. First off: I loved "The Sheik and I." A documentary essay narrated by Zahedi, it follows his comically doomed attempts to take on an assignment from the Sharjah Biennial arts festival a year ago,...

Caveh Zahedi built a reputation as a naughty provocateur with surreal docu-comedies like "A Little Stiff" and "I Am a Sex Addict," but his latest effort rises above self-interest and takes a stab at instigating change. "The Sheik and I," a diary film about Zahedi's messy experience working on commission in the United Arab Emirates, still contains a mischievous edge. However, Zahedi has also made an alarming testament to the challenges of sincere expression in societies opposed to its function. It's a daring work made with reckless abandon -- in other words, both irresponsible and necessary. Hired by the Sharjah Art Foundation to create a short film for the UAE emirate's biennial celebration, Zahedi faces a paradoxical task. The genial and apparently open-minded curators of the foundation, avowed fans of his work, task him with creating a film illustrating "art as a subversive act." But they also establish a few puzzling.

Monday night was the season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC, and Hln's very own Nancy Grace made her much-hyped dancing debut along with the rest of the show's new cast.
Grace began her routine sitting sternly behind a desk, before removing a black blazer to reveal a glittering silver dress and dancing a cha-cha-cha with her partner Tristan McManus.
Our verdict? A little stiff, but not too bad! Grace certainly seemed happy, beaming throughout the entire dance. The judges, as they tend to do, disagreed slightly with each other, with Bruno Tonioli telling Grace, "you've got the moves," Carrie Ann Inaba warning her to remember her choreography, and crotchety Brit Len Goodman huffing that the whole thing seemed to be a little "underwhelming."
What do you think? Check out Grace's debut below.

- Discovering and developing talent is what they do, and judging by the high quality level of docs they are able to support and then showcase at the snowy Park City fest it makes all the sense in the world that the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program would find it advantageous to want split the atom as many times possible and fork over what I imagine is some Ben Franklins that will be well spent. Its folks like me who get to sink their teeth into these films every trip back to Sundance. This year, 25 feature-length docs and their filmmakers will receive financial grants from the fund – many of these filmmakers are familiar names to those who know more than a thing or two about contemporary doc films. - “You see, I used to have this sex addiction problem,” Caveh Zahedi tells us in the opening moments of his film, I am a Sex Addict. The slightly built writer/director/ star of the film is addressing the camera, speaking directly to the audience. He is dressed in a tuxedo. A glimmer of nervous excitement shines through his casual yet verbally dexterous manner. He tells us he is going to be married in a few minutes, and that this will be his third marriage. The film that follows these opening moments is the story of Caveh’s life, his relationships, his “sex addiction problem” (a compulsive desire to visit prostitutes, among other things), and how he arrived at the point in his life he is now, moments away from being married. The film is shot and edited much like a documentary. Zahedi uses animated sequences and stock footage, much like a documentary.
