However, while we were assuming the biggest deal would be a program package emerging from the London TV Screenings (more on that below), BBC Studios and ITV surprised everyone this morning with some tasty M&a. A regulatory statement to the London Stock Exchange revealed the BBC’s commercial arm had paid £255M ($322M) to acquire ITV’s 50% shareholding in their joint venture, best-of-British streamer BritBox International. This, we hear, is the biggest single transaction in BBC Studios’ history and marks a new direction for the seven-year old streamer, which is profitable and has...

Babylon Berlin has landed a new U.S. home on a newly-merged streaming service created as Kino Lorber’s MHz Choice and Topic combine.
The boutique streamer will be named MHz Choice and feature the likes of The Killing, The Bridge, Detective Montalbano, The Sea Beyond and Pagan Peak, alongside the popular Babylon Berlin, which moves over from Netflix after three seasons on that streamer.
Kino Lorber said the new streamer will “combine the best European dramas and mysteries with Nordic noir crime and thrillers under the MHz Choice brand.”
The Four Daughters distributor owns MHz Choice and Topic, the latter of which in a Jv with First Look Media under which Kino has a majority stake and management oversight. The news comes a few weeks after we revealed layoffs at First Look production subsidiary Topic Studios.

When the Thessaloniki International Film Festival’s industry arm, Agora, kicks off this week in Greece’s second city, organizers will be looking to expand upon recent additions to a time-tested formula that’s served the event across nearly two decades as a launching pad and incubator for Greek and regional talent.
“We’ve been doing the Agora since 2005, and we have slowly but steadily established it as one of the markets where you can find new talents and emerging directors from this region,” says industry head Angeliki Vergou, who took over from longtime Agora topper Yianna Sarri last year. “I think we are maintaining the essence of Agora that we have developed all these years, but just tweaking it a little bit to make it more available and more open to bring in new opportunities.”

The films were Ok but lacked some luster on the whole. The list of winners of the festival(s) follows. Women filmmakers swept most of the top awards from Competition to Un Certain Regard and Critics’ Week. The market was also Ok, but not great. Rights sold before the festival and during the festival are listed with the winning titles.
The disrupters, the big streamers, were in the background and theatrical rights were being acquired by indie distributors. France’s theatrical exhibition has sprung back to its pre-covid levels while others’ like Germany, Italy and the U.S. remain 30% below.

The most common line heard on the Croisette was that the main section was stuffed with minor films from major directors, which does no one any favors. But there were happy exceptions, which included 83-year-old Marco Bellocchio’s dramatically exciting and thought-provoking Kidnapped, a summing-up of his many films dealing with the Catholic religion and how a child’s cultural identity is created beginning at a young age. Disappointingly, the jury led by two-time Palme d’Or winner Ruben Ostlund overlooked the film entirely when they awarded their prizes.Another classic director who returned in top form was 77-year-old Wim Wenders with two masterful films: Anselm, a ravishing 3D documentary portrait of artist Anselm Kiefer, and Perfect Days, a lyrical Japanese-language character study of a Tokyo toilet attendant. Justly winning the Best Actor prize for his Zen-like performance in the latter title was Koji Yakusho.Cannes Film Festival Winners:

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details of tonight’s Season 10 semi-finale of The Walking Dead.
“It was just such an epic finale, but it was an epic year,” says The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus of tonight’s long-delayed Season 10 finale “A Certain Doom.” “I mean, we had Alpha, we had Beta, we had these giant super characters that season and the Beta episode at the end, the finale, where he’s coming at us with 200,000 zombies, it had to be as big as Alpha’s end,” adds the man who has played Daryl Dixon for almost a decade.
With a true battle royale, the return of Lauren Cohan’s Maggie, the death of Ryan Hurst’s Beta by Daryl’s hand, a massive herd of walkers and those final moments where a very new type of first contact is made, the Greg Nicotero-directed finale Sunday was truly one...

It’s been a long wait for The Walking Dead season 10 finale. The episode was pulled from its April airdate once quarantine kicked in and post-production was unable to be completed. And we’ve still got just over a month to go until it hits AMC on October 4th. That said, those who subscribe to AMC+ will be able to shave a few days off that wait as the network is making the finale available to stream on the first day of the month.
Today, The Walking Dead Twitter account confirmed the news of the early release date on the subscription service, teasing the special event episode – which they’re marketing as The Whisperer War: The Final Showdown – going up on AMC+ on October 1st. The announcement came with a re-posting of a new promo that debuted the other day as well.

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 10
The masks of the Whisperers have been one of the better aspects of the latest in a long line of despotic, menacing groups threatening the relative peace of the survivors of Alexandria, Hilltop, and the mostly-forgotten Oceanside. From a production standpoint, it's probably nice to make use of background actor latex masks to hide the usual array of stunt men who play most of the action scenes on a television show. It cuts down on the need for individual extras, and allows the same group of people to be used, over and over, with only a change of clothes necessary.
For more prominent figures, like Alpha and Beta, it allows for them to look more threatening.

Italy’s Cross Productions, in which Germany’s Beta Film has a stake, is shopping “Wolfsburg,” a high-end TV series which turns on an Italian immigrant who during the 1960s arrives in the German city of Wolfsburg, headquarters of Volkswagen Group, and morphs into a murderous werewolf.
The innovative skein, now in advanced development, is being set up as an Italian/German co-production. Beta included it in its Berlinale Series Market presentation. The plan is to unveil a €1 million ($1.1 million) lavish “Wolfsburg” proof-of-concept teaser/trailer during the Beta brunch at MipTV in Cannes next month.
“The basic idea is to mix genres by having horror, or rather fantasy, intersect with Italian neorealism,” said Rosario Rinaldo, chief of Cross. Cross recently made “The Hunter,” the fact-based show about a Palermo prosecutor with a killer instinct for tracking down top Mafiosi that’s made a local splash after premiering in 2018 at Canneseries and also travelled some.

Madrid — Beta Film has acquired international distribution rights to “Libertad,” the newly-titled banner Movistar Plus series, which encapsulates many of the original series production ambitions of Telefonica’s pay TV/Svod service.
According to Fran Araujo, head of content for Movistar Plus, “Beta is there for all our series from the beginning, nowadays, we’ve got a really extensive deal with them.”
Producers Lazona Productions, Spanish director Enrique Urbizu and Movistar have finalized production on “Libertad” and will begin post-production. Urbizu has previously directed “Gigantes,” another original series for Movistar Plus produced by Lazona.

Daryl Dixon has met his match, it seems.
In anticipation of The Walking Dead returning this Sunday with the hotly-anticipated “Chokepoint,” the Powers That Be over at AMC have dropped a snippet of footage in which series stalwart and all-around fan-favorite Daryl Dixon hones in on his next target – the Whisperer Beta.
Yes, Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) second-in-command has been tasked with exterminating the Hilltop and its ragtag group of survivors, which only raises alarm bells in the camp. Thankfully, based on this first-look teaser for “Chokepoint,” it looks certain that Norman Reedus’ roguish hero will be the one to step up to the plate. Which is just as well, because we all know how dangerous a character Beta can be.
In fact, series showrunner Angela Kang recently outlined the importance of Beta to EW, saying:

Damn, iZombie. Stop making me feel things. (Just kidding. Never stop.) This show may have just delivered its best episode yet with the perfect balance of character-drive zombie arc developments and an unpredictable, compelling murder-of-the-week. Never have I wanted to spend more time with a bro than in Zombie Bro. Well played, show.
Let’s get the murder mystery out of the way first because, while watching Bro Liv try to solve this one was one of the more entertaining parts of my week, it couldn’t compete with the heartbreaking character stuff that went down elsewhere in the ep.
When a member of Zeta Theta Beta ends up dead after a frat party, there is no end to...

Saturday’s Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa opened with hosts Ranvir and Manish explaining this weeks ‘Teen Ka Tadka’ concept in their typical style!
Judge Remo then performed his version of Teen Ka Tadka along side Lauren Gottlieb and choreographer Salman Khan. Their act was based on a particular scene from Hindi mythology ‘Ramayan’ where judge Remo played the role of Raavan who was trying to kidnap Sitaji (played by Lauren) and the old vulture Jatayu who tried to save Sitaji was played by Salman. Their song reflected the religious theme of their act. It truly was a spell binding performance and it gave the audience a clear reflection as to what todays acts would be like.
It was then time to welcome the special guests on stage who would form the Teen Ka Tadka. Sana Saeed, Faisal, Dadi from Comedy Nights with Kapil, Krystle D’Souza, Mukti Mohan and Ellie Avram were all welcomed on stage.

In a classic twist that is likely to gladden hearts and be a step ahead for cine-buffs, choreographer Saroj Khan and director Indra Kumar have re-bonded after a hiatus of 16 years for Super Nani! Earlier, the duo had created magic onscreen with Dil, Beta, Raja, Ishq and the iconic 'Dhak Dhak' song number, with Madhuri Dixit gyrating sensuously with Anil Kapoor still remains etched in collective memories. Presently, history is all set to repeat itself for Super Nani. Get se...

A quick recap: in 2004 Inder Kumar (Dil, Beta) directed Masti, starring Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. It had some comic moments, a good soundtrack and spawned a series of similar comedies based around the ‘3 lead actors being unfaithful’ formula (Shaadi No.1, Thank You). Nearly a decade later, we have a follow on film named Grand Masti which promises to be an entertaining ‘adult’ comedy. Does it live up to the expectations? Is it as good as the original? Read on to find out.
The story in a nutshell is about three married friends who are invited back for a college reunion. They get involved with 3 desirable girls, sing, dance and get into a whole heap of trouble when their wives find out. Essentially Grand Masti is the same theme, with the same lead cast, but it is not really a sequel in the true sense of it. Neither...

For an adult comedy, Grand Masti is all set to embark on a good start for itself. The film benefits from a terrific recall value that Masti as a series boasts of. Moreover, the entire promotional campaign has been bang on target, hence finding its target audience on it’s way. While this also means that children and to an extent family audience are out of picture for this Indra Kumar directed affair, the fact also remains that the film would see the biggest ever opening for the director who had started his career with family flicks like Dil, Beta and Raja.
The film is plagued though by the stay order in Punjab and Haryana on charges of vulgarity. However as it happens with most films, this one too is expected to sail through. As things stand today, the film should take 60%-70% opening for itself, which would ensure that...

It has been a decade since Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie) had his first entree into life in "The O.C.," bringing fans of teen soap along for a look at life inside the mansions of Newport Beach. The Fox drama, which premiered on August 5, 2003, was filled with envelope-pushing sexual encounters, Juicy Couture jumpsuits, Death Cab for Cutie, trips to T.J. and much, much more.
Josh Schwartz was a day shy of 27 when "The O.C." first hit the airwaves, which made him the youngest TV creator ever and probably, one of the only ones who would admit to penning a highly-acclaimed pilot in his boxer shorts.
From the real story behind Mischa Barton's departure to the Cohens' original name, and the missed coupling opportunities to the star who didn't even make it onto "The O.C.'s" first poster, read on to see what Schwartz revealed to The Huffington Post while...

Bollywood goddess Madhuri Dixit was once told early in her career that she would never succeed within the film industry. At a recent event, Madhuri stated the following to the Indian media and how she was determined to prove her critics wrong. “Being a woman you always go through something or the other. When I made my debut in Bollywood, many people told me I can’t do, it’s not a good place, I can’t make my position in this industry. But that time I had faith in myself and worked and proved everyone what can I do.”
Making her film debut in Abodh (1984), Madhuri eventually secured the stardom she sought to achieve with the blockbuster hit Tezaab (1988), where she performed opposite 80s superstar Anil Kapoor. Subsequently, she has starred in key Bollywood films like Dil (1990), Beta (1992), Khal Nayak (1993), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) and Dil To Pagal Hai...

"I am eagerly waiting to watch the show," he added.

Mumbai, Feb 6: One of the best actresses in tinsel town, Madhuri Dixit is very strict when it comes to health issues and adds she is quite good at multi-tasking too.
"I am a multi-tasker. I can do two things together. I am very strict with myself and my kids too. I handle my diet and I am responsible for my health," she told Ians in an interview.
During her long and successful innings in the filmdom, she churned out hits like "Tezaab", "Beta", "Dil", "Dil To Pagal Hai". However, her comeback film after her marriage with the Us-based doctor Sriram Nene "Aaja Nachle" turned out to be a damp squib when it hit the theatres in 2007..
