Late last week, another long list appeared out of thin air to clue us in to what AMPAS might be up to this year. Here, it was the near record 145 contenders up for nominations in Best Documentary Feature. Below you’ll see all of the 145, but I also want to just point out that the ultimate five nominees could literally be any one of them. Sure, there are some smarter bets, which I’ll address momentarily, but the way the Academy works, it may just come down to which winds wind up getting seen. Oscar will have their say soon, but until then, it’s a guessing game. Still, that’s kind of what I do for a living. As such, let the guessing on my part continue! It can sometimes be hard to figure out which hopefuls turn out to be the frontrunners, but there’s definitely some higher end titles.

In 2004, a tiny horror movie called Saw, from an unknown director named James Wan, played at the Sundance Film Festival to good reviews, was picked up by a relatively minor distributor called Lionsgate, and the rest is history. Lionsgate is now a major player. James Wan is directing gigantic blockbusters. And the Saw series went the path […]

Kristen Stewart is working it out in the army! Well, not really. But the 23-year-old actress is breaking a sweat while filming scenes for her new movie, Camp X-Ray, in which she plays a soldier assigned to Guantanamo Bay. In a pic taken of K.Stew while filming scenes in San Pedro, Calif. yesterday, the Twilight star is seen running in sneakers, black socks, black Army shorts and a gray Army T-shirt. Her military look was completed with a neon yellow belt and her dark hair is up in a ponytail. Barbed wire can be seen in the background. In Camp X-Ray, Stewart moves to Guantanamo Bay where she becomes friends with a man (played by Lane Garrison) who was imprisoned there for eight years. On Wednesday, Stewart...

In life, sometimes when you chase a dream you have to take a leap of faith. This jump is not without its consequences, gaining you many bruises and scars along the way. But if you put passion and love in everything you do you could transcend anything you thought possible and make an impact in the world. These words personify one of the most iconic wrestlers in the modern era. A guy that is the best-selling author, philanthropist, comedian, world champion and sock puppet aficionado Mick Foley. In the latest WWE DVD release, entitled “For All Mankind: the Life and Career of Mick Foley” they attempt to get a more in-depth look at the man behind the madness. Personally I think it’s much like the subject it follows it’s pretty good.

I guess it’s finally time to admit defeat. Fandango – or to a greater extent, Fandangoing – is sweeping the nation. It may not have yet reached the level of say, a Harlem Shake or Gangnam Style, but it’s most definitely out there. It’s crossed the border from the niche wrestling market into the mainstream, where news anchors and weathermen alike now raise and lower their arms as if they’re milking two giant udders.
So as with all things that catch mainstream attention, the WWE tends to pounce on the trend and run it into the ground, like your dad rinsing the new Paramore record in an attempt to rekindle some semblance of youth. They sent Fandango to the ring on this week’s Raw not as a true heel, but as a cheerleader. “Do you wanna go Fandangoing?” he cried. “What about these people over here? Or these people over here?...

I’m a lover of storytelling, so I naturally lean towards narrative and word choice when it comes to comic books. It’s what I’m familiar with. I know words; I hang out with them all day; I feel comfortable critiquing them and wringing out their emotional effects. But this week… this week, the art stepped up to the plate to a degree at which I’m not sure any single issue I read would have been the same without the visual master behind the curtain. And so, dear artists, this week, I salute you: for bringing nightmares to life, for inking scenes into the dark, for knowing just when to stop so imagination can take over.

If a zombie apocalypse were to occur, I now know that I'll come out as a survivor.
Out of all of the events this writer participated in during the month of October, the Run For Your Lives "zombie 5k adventure race" was the most exhausting and exhilarating. ShockTillYouDrop.com met up with the FEARnet team (check out their photo gallery) to take on the event which is a sprawling, zombie-populated obstacle course located in Temecula, California (about two hours outside of Los Angeles).
The challenge is simple: Survive the three-mile run. How? Each runner is given three flags which are worn around their waist. The zombies waiting for you are out to get your flags. The less flags you have, the less "life" you lose. Lose all of your flags...you're Dead. Oh, and there are obstacles to plow through: Barbed wire to crawl under, slides, walls to climbs, hills to tackle,...

Nicolas Ghesquière's designs were at once flouncy and edgy – and with Kristen Stewart on board the label is cutting edge
Barbed wire snaking across a dress front, dancing flamenco ruffles, boxy crop tops, super-sleek vanity cases and Kristen Stewart in a lemon yellow leather biker jacket perched on the front row – Balenciaga's show for next spring/summer had everything a modern fashion house needs: a celebrity mascot who oozes cool, accessories likely to cause waiting list meltdowns and interesting, beautifully made clothes that will look good in magazines but aren't scary enough to frighten off women affluent enough to afford them.
Balenciaga is often described as a bit "sci-fi", but this show kicked off with a lot of very un-Star Trek-like ruffles. A black dress with a frilled peplum turned to reveal a slash detail in the skirt's hem while ruffled skirts were matched with edgy squared-off...

It has just been announced that six new levels have been released for Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land:
“Whereas before the player fought against diabolical forces that wished to destroy humanity, in the newly launched Dlc levels for ‘Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land’, this is reversed as the player now has to end the world. In the six new levels released today, entitled ‘Kaul’s Diary’, the player instead controls the villainous cult leader from the original game, Docktor Kaul. In a series of encounters set before the events of ‘The Wasted Land’ the player controls Kaul and his minions as they attempt to put his genocidal vision into action. To play the new levels, players need a copy of the original game and simply then select ‘Extra Levels’ and purchase Kaul’s Diary there. The Dlc costs $2.99/£1.79/€2.39 from the App Store and more platforms are expected to follow soon.

I am seeing Final Destination 5 tonight and unlike two years ago with The Final Destination I wasn't at Comic Con this year to have pretty much every single death scene spoiled for me in advance. However, that's hardly the reason that film stunk. One of the biggest reasons I disliked The Final Destination was the decision to use so much CGI for the 3D effect rather than focus on fun and inventive kills. In fact, one scene where they almost had a great death in a car wash ends with the girl being saved... What up with that?
Well, Final Destination 5 is in 3D as well, and I can't help but wonder if director Steven Quale will make the same mistakes David Ellis made on the last installment. In fact, The Final Destination was truly the first film in the franchise I took virtually no pleasure out of,...

A poster for "The Walking Dead" Seas. 2 has debuted at the AMC and this latest graphic is from comic book artist Tim Bradstreet ("The Punisher").The image has a loss of saturation, as three zombies loom forth. Barbed wire frames the bottom portion of the graphic, while the tone is definitely one of horror.
This graphic was shown at the San Diego Comic Con and now zombie fans can have a look for themselves, right here. Season 2 of "The Walking Dead" will debut October 21st on television. One minor complaint on this upcoming season might involve the mystery of this latest season's plotline, which is being secreted. A Leicester citizen is concerned about poor zombie preparations. Take this advice and you'll be just fine. Trust me
The oncoming zombie apocalypse might sound like the chance to write off your debt and be the badass you were always born to be, but for fans of stuff like "not killing loved ones" and "still having skin" it's going to be a rough ride. So what have you done to prepare? Hell, what has the government done? These guys can't even handle the living, never mind the undead.
These were the thoughts of a concerned citizen from Leicester who, through the Freedom of Information Act, forced his city council to reveal it was woefully unprepared for a zombie uprising. "Having watched several films," he wrote, "it is clear that preparation for such an event is poor and one that councils throughout the kingdom must prepare for." You tell 'em, concerned citizen.

With the release of Saw in 3D… we are dedicating this weeks Top Ten to Saw Traps. Sure, they are creepy and deadly, but they are also intricate!
Top Ten Saw Traps Full Carousel Trap- Saw VI
The carousel trap consisted of six of William’s junior associates: Aaron, Emily, Gena, Dave, Shelby, and Josh (in order of when they were stopped by the carousel), chained to a rotating roundabout-like object inside of a large metal cage. At the front of the cage was a large metal device attached to a shotgun which was pointing at the carousel. The carousel repeatedly slowed to a halt with a random victim facing the gun. William was forced to choose to place his hand inside a metal box and press a button, causing a metal rod to pierce his hand in order to prevent the selected victim from being shot, or choose not...
