Cunning by name, Cunning by nature, very good.
Last night I watched The Veiled one, it was such a heavy handed affair, it lacked any lighter sparks, no such issues with this episode. Put on by Cunning is a great story, boosted by some nice humour, solid production values, and a fine cast.
It's a very clever mystery, plenty of layers, but in terms of Wexford productions I would say it's one of the more straightforward stories, murder and identification are central. The shorter running time makes a difference.
This show wasn't afraid to film abroad, the scenes stateside look great, even if the music is hideous. I loved the red cabriolet, and chuckled at Reg's dress out there.
I like how Reg becomes obsessional about Natalie's identity, it's very good.
The lighter side comes from that restauranteur, who is very funny, loved the scene with the tins, and Beryl Reid who played Mrs Mountnessing, she is so incredibly over the top, but great.

This was very good.
This was very well done, very unpredictable. I would have given it ten stars except for some dodgy music during the Los Angeles sequences, and the fact that it was quite hard to follow the plot because of jagged editing. I liked George Baker as Wexford very much (I had only read the novels before).

Hurray for Hollywood
The mystery movie is like a Christmas special with more money thrown at it (plus trips to Hollywood and France included).
Despite only being like 2 episodes, it is a bit drawn out and some regular characters hardly feature but a fair watch but a bit confusing at times.
