Hyderabad, Feb 6 (Ians) Down but not out: that seems to be the message that Vijay Devarakonda is sending out after his failure to click in the box office with ‘Liger’. He has just announced his next project with Parasuram, who previously helmed ‘Geeta Govindam’ which saw Vijay cast with Rashmika.
“We are getting back together” shared Vijay Deverakonda while announcing his next with ‘Geeta Govindam’ director. The 2018 Telugu movie is among Vijay’s biggest hits and firmly out him in the top bracket.
The movie is being bankrolled by ace producer ‘Dil’ Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations who tweeted: “Very happy to announce that we are collaborating with blockbuster combination of Vijay Devarakonda and Parasuram.”
Vijay Devarakonda’s last theatrical outing ‘Liger’ a pan-India movie directed by Puri Jagannath, was a box office disaster. The debacle was a big blow for the Tollywood actor who had captured the imagination of youngsters across the country.

The 55th Annual Country Music Association Awards held on November 10 ended with another surprise for Entertainer of the Year: Luke Combs won for the first time on just his second try, which comes after Eric Church pulled off an upset in that category in 2020. It was a counterintuitive result considering that Chris Stapleton had just swept all four of his other categories, including Male Vocalist of the Year, where he beat Combs. And it meant Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert have to wait at least one more year for the title. Check out the complete list of winners here.
Stapleton was ultimately the night’s biggest winner, claiming Album of the Year for “Starting Over” and Single of the Year and Song of the Year for the title track, in addition to his aforementioned Male Vocalist victory. Wim Wenders says cinema is facing an “existential crisis” brought on by the coronavirus pandemic and the rise of streaming services, urging film lovers to “fight” for movie theaters, and calling on his fellow filmmakers to rise to the challenge at a time when their voices are needed more than ever before.
“[The pandemic] made me realize how much responsibility we have as filmmakers, and that this crisis that the whole of humanity is going through is also a task for us filmmakers,” he said, speaking to Variety at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
Wenders is at the Bosnian fest this week to accept an honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award in recognition of a lifetime’s achievement in film. “I think no other city in the world could have a heart as a symbol,” he said of the Bosnian capital. “It’s a city that embodies gentleness, and a kindness to communicate between cultures,...

Wolfwalkers, a “relatively small European movie,” as the filmmakers described it — is rooted in the history of 1650s Ireland, while Soul follows a middle school music teacher’s journey to “the Great Beyond” via “the Great Before.”
Soul will vie for the marquee Best Feature prize at the Annies, going up against another Pixar pic — Onward, which scooped seven noms — along with Netflix’s The Willoughbys and a pair of DreamWorks Animation sequels: The Croods: A New Age and Trolls World Tour. Willoughbys and Croods picked up six noms each today, and Trolls rocked away with four.

Heart’s Ann Wilson has released a booming new solo single, “The Hammer.”
The track is a classic blast of big riff hard rock that’s all headbang and no nonsense, save for a clever organ-led bridge to offer a brief, ethereal respite. “When the hammer comes down,” Wilson bellows, “Binding, binding/Saying again what’s been a million times said/Bury your truth and suffocate your head.”
Wilson wrote “The Hammer” with guitarists Tyler Boley and Craig Bartock, and recorded the song last fall in Seattle. “We had a great time recording this one!

Recreational drinking, smoking and drug use is linked to premature heart disease in young people, particularly among younger women, a new study suggests.
The study, published in the journal Heart, suggests that those who regularly use 4 or more substances are 9 times as likely to be affected.
"The growing body of research on these issues suggests the need for a nationwide education campaign on the potential long-term damage being done to the cardiovascular system in patients with substance use disorders," said researcher Anthony Wayne Orr from Louisiana State University.
The researcher pointed out that use of cocaine and methamphetamine have been associated with faster cell ageing and neurocognitive decline, with higher than average loss of grey matter.
For the study, the team included 135,703 people with premature heart disease and 7,716 with extremely premature heart disease. They were compared with 111,245 people who did not have premature heart disease.

An arthouse-orientated Berlin line-up could ultimately reveal some pleasant surprises.
“Apprehension” was the word used by artistic director Carlo Chatrian to describe the mood of the films at the Berlinale 2021. Given the precarious state of the world this pandemic midwinter, that’s possibly the best we could expect as he announced the titles under the gaze of the festival’s stern, bespectacled black bear..

Country and R&b stars Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan teamed up Sunday for one of the more unusual wrinkles in Super Bowl national anthem history, and something Frances Scott Key probably scarcely imagined: a duet.
That didn’t turn out to be the only extraordinary thing about their rendition: it was certainly one of the few significant syncopated versions of “The Star Spangled Banner” in TV history, with Church gently strumming the song on his electric guitar with light, funky accents on the 2s and the 4s, before Sullivan took it into an entirely more soulful realm.
How their extremely different voices would meld was a subject of suspense — even to the stars themselves, possibly, as Church recently admitted he hadn’t met Sullivan yet, weeks after being announced as her duet partner. But her presence saved him the need to soar into a high range he doesn’t have.

For the past decade-plus Canadian singer-songwriter Tamara Lindeman, who records as The Weather Station, has been offering up piercing introspections on a series of decreasingly folky albums, beginning with the bedroom roots of 2009’s The Line. From the very start, Lindeman has put her own off-kilter, stark spin on traditional idioms, like on 2017’s “Thirty,” from the band’s self-titled breakthrough, where a daydream about a gentle embrace spins out into a sprawling remembrance about anti-depressants, gas prices, and the strength of the Canadian dollar.

Written solo by Church, “Heart on Fire” is more FM classic rock than Nashville country, with hints of Lonesome Jubilee-era John Mellencamp. “I’m soaking my soul in gas and setting my heart on fire,” Church sings, as propulsive tinkling piano and Joanna Cotten, Church’s longtime backing vocalist, add a loose bar-band vibe. Baobab Studios has released the trailer for its new virtual reality experience film “Namoo” ahead of its Sundance premiere.
“Namoo,” which means “tree” in Korean, will be premiering as part of Sundance’s New Frontiers. The feature is written and directed by Erick Oh, who previously worked on “Heart” and “How to Eat Your Apple.”
The film is brought to life through virtual reality and celebrates a grandfather’s passing. It follows the journey of a budding artist — and his tree of life — from start to end.
Speaking exclusively with Variety ahead of the premiere, Oh said, “This story is deeply inspired by the loss of my grandfather a long time ago. It took me a while to finally put this together in an art piece because I wasn’t ready to share this idea with the world yet. He passed away almost 10 years ago, and it was a sudden goodbye.

Photo: ‘The White Tiger’/Netflix Balram Halwai (Adarsh Gourav) is born into a lowly caste of sweet-makers, destined to fruitlessly serve richer masters until he’s outlasted his usefulness--nevertheless, he does so with unwavering loyalty until he’s so heartlessly betrayed that he sets out to forge his own path by any means necessary. Based on Aravind Adiga’s 2008 novel of the same name, Netflix’s ‘The White Tiger’ initially elicits comparison with Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Parasite’--set in modern India, it recounts the story of a poor villager who finds work as a driver for a rich family, commenting on the harshly divisive class system in the process. Both discuss the way in which the rich exploit the poor, who in turn finagle what wealth they can from the rich. With 24 women remaining during the first week of Matt James’ season of “The Bachelor,” in an attempt to narrow down his suitors, he hosted three dates: two one-on-ones and a group date.
Before the dates got started, the women moved into their new home at the Nemacolin resort in Pennsylvania. The women settled in — well, all except for Victoria Larson, who vocally opposed the “sisterhood.” While the rest of the contestants rallied around Bri Springs after her invitation to the first one-on-one, Victoria responded by complaining to a producer.
“I hate this girl power bullshit,” Victoria said. “You guys are either lying or fake or fucking losers. Then get off the show. This is not a sorority.”
While Victoria continued to complain, Bri went off on the first date, where she and Matt spent the day riding ATVs.

Photo: ‘Ak vs. Ak’/Netflix There are three rules to the genre-bending Netflix original, “film within a film,” that is ‘Ak vs. Ak.’ Rule one: you can not call the police. Rule two: you cannot involve any outsiders. Rule three: “the camera will continue shooting even if the God of Death walks into the frame”. Playing dramatized versions of themselves, Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap star in the hostage-thriller-turned-all-out-war. The film embarks with establishing director Anurag Kashyap as an industry hotshot, well, that’s if you let this hyperbolized version of Kashyap tell it. We’re soon introduced to actor Anil Kapoor, although Bollywood is already highly familiar with the heavyweight. Also playing an over-the-top egotistical idea of who Mr. Kapoor actually is, when we’re first introduced to Kapoor, he’s all washed up, too old to play “the hero” like he consistently played in his prime.
