Lou Diamond Phillips was married to one of the assistant directors on this film. Phillips frequently visited the set during the shooting of the movie and even played a demon under a pseudonym.
The cast and crew shot for 7 hours on the first day and, when they arrived to view the dailies the next morning, discovered the film was bad and they had nothing to show for their work. They were forced to allot 2 hours to reshoot the first day's scenes.

Bearing freezing temperatures, snow drifts and gusting winds which knocked over sets, it was a difficult shoot for the cast and crew, and scenes had to be revised on the spot to accommodate the weather.
