Back in 2005, something game-changing happened; the Xbox 360 brought with it achievements and Gamerscore – a feature Sony would mimic in 2008 when they added Trophy support to the Playstation 3.
Something about this just grabbed certain gamers; they simply needed to complete every last optional goal for a given game. Honestly, for those it does resonate with, there’s something weirdly addicting about seeing your completion numbers grow and your Gamerscore rise higher and higher with each title played – especially if you’re competing with friends.
Sure, there are a lot of gamers out there who don’t understand the point of going for every last achievement, especially if it’s not enjoyable. They play games simply for that reason; to enjoy the gameplay and the story. While I admit I have no good reasoning as to why I go for everything one-by-one, I will tell you I enjoy around 90% of it.

Taken away from Paul Schrader, and recut, scored and mixed without any of his involvement, the final product of last year's "The Dying Of The Light" with Nicolas Cage was a total mess (though I'm not quite convinced a director's cut would fix any of the film's issues). But the filmmaker and actor are giving it a second kick at the can, with Schrader being given the authority of having final cut. Read More: Paul Schrader Talks "Bad People" Behind 'Dying Of The Light,' Says Push For 35Mm Projection Is "Claptrap" Deadline reports that the duo will reteam for "Dog Eat Dog." Based on the crime novel by Eddie Bunker, Scrader will co-write the script with Matt Wilder about a trio of ex-cons who are hired for a kidnapping that goes out of control. Here's the book synopsis: Dog Eat Dog, Bunker's fourth novel, follows Troy Cameron, a reformatory graduate like Bunker.

Some sequels are doomed to live in the shadow of the hits that triggered them. Here are a few examples...
Following up a successful movie with a sequel is a tough proposition for any writer or director, and it's often the case that such follow-ups fail to recreate the magic of their predecessors. But sometimes, sequels can offer a different yet entertaining experience of their own, and it's even possible that, if they didn't happen to share the same name as an earlier hit film, they might even have been better received.
This article's dedicated to a few of these kinds of films. They offer lots of excitement, comedy, jolts of terror and a smattering of great performances, and might have fared better with audiences and critics had they not been sequels. At the very least, they attempted to do something a little different than the films they followed. While other examples undeniably remain,...

Marty Feldman Week! begins at Trailers from Hell with TV writer Alan Spencer introducing "The Last Remake of Beau Geste," which was so drastically re-cut by the studio before its release that Feldman rejected a positive New York Times review, writing the critic and telling him he was wrong. Pop-eyed Brit comic Marty Feldman directs and stars in this wacky spoof chosen from a list of titles to which Universal owned the remake rights. Taken away from him and completely recut by the studio, it nevertheless ended up a critical and financial success. When the New York Times published a rave review, Feldman wrote a long letter to the critic telling him he was wrong. Apologies for the low picture quality of this transfer.

If you've been wondering where the great stories of radioactive mutants and nuclear apocaplyse have gone, Israeli film student Daniel Fallick has the answer. His short Radium, set in a nuked Tel Aviv, gives us a Middle Eastern Mad Max.
Here's the story:
15 years have passed since the nuclear bomb dropped on the Nation of Israel; and Tel-Aviv was turned into a quarantine zone for those unfortunates found with high levels of radiation in their systems. Taken away from their families and loved ones, these lost souls are forever sentenced to a life of survival in this shattered, lawless city. Layla — a strong-willed Israeli woman infiltrates Tel-Aviv in search of her long lost love.
