- Although the UK cinema and video versions were fully uncut the DVD release features the R-rated U.S print which is missing around 15 secs of gore. The fusion scene between Dan and the bike is shortened and the scene where Freddy forces Greta's innards into her mouth is cut (his voice can be heard saying "You are what you eat").
- The Australian VHS releases are the uncut "unrated" version and can be identified by a red label up in the top right corner of the front cover that says "Contains extra footage not seen in Australian cinemas!"
- The USA VHS was released in both a R rated and unrated version with additional footage. The unrated VHS had a yellow star on it and says "The Full length uncensored version! Contains material not seen in the theatrical release!" This version was released in both a regular version and a "For Promotional Use Only. Not for Resale Version.
- 4 min were cut by censors from the Swedish VHS release.

The original videocassette release contains the "Unrated" version, which has a running time of 91 minutes, and features two scenes that were extended with more graphic violence. The motorcycle "fuses" with the Dan's body longer, and Freddy forces Greta's innards into her mouth.
