This film as a whole has a very dark and foreboding tone (comparable to the Nolan trilogy), but some of it is balanced with some sense of humor.
Alicia removes her mask to reveal her acid-scarred face. It is implied that she is consensual to Joker's unseen mutilation of her face. It is later implied that she commits suicide at Joker's behest.
