Eight-year-old Laura Hollingsworth and her daddy are awakened at 6AM to the sounds of a burglar breaking into their Texas home. Armed, the burglar forces Laura's father to cut the phone lines, then ties him up and ransacks the house. But the father manages to break free and wrestles with the burglar, while Laura calls "911". It is this emotional phone conversation between Laura and Arlington police dispatcher Valerie Nelson that inspired executive producer Arnold Shapiro to create the series, "Rescue 911."
