It’s been three years since Billie Eilish released a new album, but the wait is over: Hit Me Hard and Soft will arrive May 17.
The album cover features Eilish underwater, barefoot and sinking beneath a white wooden door. The LP spans 10 tracks including “Skinny,” “Birds of a Feather,” and “L’Amour de Ma Vie.” According to the release, Hit Me Hard and Soft is meant to be listened to all the way through — a cohesive body of work. “Not doing singles I wanna give it to you all at once,...

For his debut film, Night Shoot, writer/director/actor Taylor Katsanis mixes things up a little by taking a plot that dates back to the original found footage film Cannibal Holocaust, a group of filmmakers finds they’ve gotten themselves into a situation they may not be able to get out of, and filming it conventionally. With found footage still making good use of the plot in films like The Glenarma Tapes, can Night Shoot compete?

Consider this Thelma & Louise meets Jack Ryan.
Amazon, following an intensive bidding war, has landed the action-adventure show starring Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer with an eight-episode, straight-to-series order.
The untitled show is based on an original idea from Tessa Coates (Feel Good) that was taken out to six of the major streamers, four of which bought the show while in the room and with the others also making offers before Amazon emerged the victor, prompting the pitch to the seventh streamer to be canceled. The series was one of few new original scripted ideas that generated multiple offers in what many Hollywood insiders say has been an unusually quiet marketplace after the writers strike.
Ted Lasso Emmy winner Waddingham and The Help Oscar winner Octavia Spencer will star as best friends Judith and Debbie, respectively, who work to repair their friendship after Debbie learns Judith is a highly trained assassin.

Warning: This contains spoilers for Not Going Out
Back in 2015, during a BBC Breakfast interview about series seven of Not Going Out, presenter Bill Turnbull asked Lee Mack: “Did you ever imagine when you first got that pilot that you’d get seven series?”
“I didn’t think we’d even get a series,” Mack answers incredulously, explaining that even going from script to a pilot episode felt like “the biggest hurdle”.
And yet, eight years later (17 since the show began in 2006), Not Going Out has now almost doubled its series from seven to 13, still regularly pulling in audiences of over four million, with the newest series arriving on BBC One on Friday 23rd June at 9pm. As ever, the show will focus on Lee Mack as a fictionalised version of himself, alongside his landlady-turned-wife and sparring partner Lucy, and their eventful and often farcical life together.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized the Christian organization behind two ads made for Sunday night’s Super Bowl game, claiming they spread fascism.
“Something tells me Jesus would not spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign,” the lawmaker wrote on Twitter.

Christian group “He Gets Us,” a campaign to promote Jesus, ran two ads during the game for 20 million. They were funded in part by the conservative billionaire owners of Hobby Lobby, which has been at the center of several controversies, including the support of anti-lgbt legislation and a years-long fight that eventually resulted in the Supreme Court allowing companies to deny medical coverage for contraception due to religious beliefs.

Terrence O’Hara, who directed 85 episodes of various franchises of NCIS on CBS, died on December 5 after a five-year battle with cancer. He was 76. His family confirmed his passing in a statement: “Terrence waged a heroic battle with cancer until he couldn’t, but for five years wore his struggle with unimaginable grace. He continued to direct, do the dishes, walk the dog, shovel snow, hang Christmas lights and have dinner with friends and never felt sorry for himself, though that would have been Ok. His fortitude is one for the ages. He will be deeply, dearly, madly missed.” O’Hara’s 56th and final NCIS episode, titled “Birds of a Feather,” aired on May 23, while his 29th and final episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, “Bonafides,” aired this past March. He also directed 4 episodes of the now-concluded NCIS: New Orleans and 17 episodes of the original series that spawned NCIS, Jag. Outside of the franchise,...

The act of watching goes hand in hand with cinema, and one filmmaker who examined the mix of voyeurism and violence that makes cinema so enrapturing was Michael Powell. Powell's 1960 film "Peeping Tom" focuses on Mark Lewis (Karlheinz Boehm), a documentarian serial killer. Mark films his victims, all young women, at their moment of death to capture primal fear in celluloid.
Powell's film was soundly rejected in its day and ended his sterling reputation in the UK; he only directed five largely forgotten films in the next three decades. But thanks to championing by figures such as Martin Scorsese, "Peeping Tom" found its audience and is now remembered as a classic. Why was the film so panned upon release, and how did its reputation recover? Let's dig in.
Who Was Michael Powell?
Powell rose to fame in the British film industry throughout the 1940s and 50s, but he didn't do it alone.

“Mahogany” has long been regarded as a classic romantic film that has pretty much everything you crave in the genre: sex, luxurious fashion montages, and a hot couple. But you know what stops it from being a perfect movie? The ending, which finds Diana Ross as a style maven at the top of her game giving it all up to be at her man’s (Billy Dee Williams) side as he realizes his political dreams.
It’s been more than 40 years since that film’s release, and screenwriters have only recently begun to realize that a female character sacrificing herself for a man is tired as all get out. That’s what makes director Nahnatchka Khan’s “Always Be My Maybe” that much more enjoyable because it flips that dynamic on its head.

In a competitive situation, the project has been set up at ABC with a put pilot commitment. ABC Studios is producing.
Coates will executive produce alongside Daniels and his longtime manager/producing partner, 3 Arts’ Howard Klein. The concept for the series is still being honed in.

Anyone looking for positive signs of diversity at the movies needed to look no further than this year’s Frontières Co-Production Marketplace, which took place in July at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival. The market, which gives genre filmmakers the opportunity to pitch and mingle with financiers and producers from around the world, has helped launch everything from Alexandre O. A fascinating range of projects were unveiled during Frontières’ seventh edition, hailing from all over the world and expressing many and varied points of view.

The Howards are going through with their plan to change places.
That means on Counterpart Season 1 Episode 4, Howard will have to step up the pace as he enters the other side to take the place of OHoward.
What will he find when he gets there? This trailer gives us no idea whatsoever.
It does provide intel on what OHoward will be doing while he's wearing Howard's clothes.
He appears to be interrogating a man in a deli, asking what he might know about Alexander Pope, including why AP would be interested in bringing an assassin to this side.
Why Would Pope want an assassin over here?

Who does he want to kill, or better yet, who does he want to replace with his own man from the other side?
What's highly amusing is listening to Peter Quayle talk a big game.

Other Emily is in the family business.
On Counterpart Season 1 Episode 2 she was willing to take orders to pull him in, and I have to wonder why she didn't question them.
She doesn't have the clearance of her husband, and it's hard not wonder why she wouldn't why a lower level ex-wife would be given the rendition. It was telling of their relationship, though. If she's willing to carry out a rendition order on her husband, things are not well between them.
Seeing how handily an unarmed Other Howard destroyed the two men Emily asked him to take in OHoward, his skills are no longer in doubt.
Just how bad things are between Emily and OHoward is up for debate when it's revealed the rendition call Emily received was a false one. Olivia Williams is playing Emily with just enough doubt in herself we can't be sure what she's thinking,...

Just how bad things are between Emily and OHoward is up for debate when it's revealed the rendition call Emily received was a false one. Olivia Williams is playing Emily with just enough doubt in herself we can't be sure what she's thinking,...

Best Song Oscar 2016 contender 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' with Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. 74 entries in contention for 2016 Best Song Academy Award 'Tis the season for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to announce the semi-finalists – in some instances, the semi-semi-finalists – for the Academy Awards. Today, the Academy released the list of songs eligible for the 2016 Best Song – or rather, Best Original Song – Oscar. There are 74 contenders, with titles ranging from “Happy” and “I'll See You in My Dreams” to “Hypnosis” and “Bhoomiyilenghanumundo.” Curiously, apart from the inevitable animated and/or kiddie flicks (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, Anomalisa, Pan, Shaun the Sheep Movie, Home, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water, etc.) most of this year's contenders are songs from smaller movies and Bollywood/South Asian releases. Exceptions include Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey, Ryan Coogler's Creed, Kenneth Branagh's...

She's best known for playing Sharon Theodopolopodos in ITV's long-running sitcom Birds of a Feather, and following parts in Emmerdale and Broadchurch, the Quirkenaissance continues with a lead role in Sky1's ambitious new comedy-drama You, Me and the Apocalypse.
The UK-usa project features one of the most impressive and intriguing ensemble casts for years, including The West Wing's Rob Lowe and The Office's Jenna Fischer, and Quirke will appear as one of several seemingly unconnected individuals against the backdrop of the end of life as we know it.
Speaking to Digital Spy and others on the set of the show, Quirke promised viewers that its "dark" tones help separate it from anything that has come before.
"I like the fact that it's very, very funny, but also because of the subject matter it's quite dark in places," she said. "But the combination of both together really works.

After 15 years and uncountable grisly murders in Las Vegas, the CSI team will say farewell in a feature-length movie. Rejoice as William Petersen is back as Gil Grissom, alongside a host of former faces to solve one last case.
It's not a complete end, as Ted Danson has moved sideways to spinoff show CSI: Cyber, but it should be a tough act to follow.
2. You, Me and the Apocalypse - Wednesday, 9pm on Sky1

Martin Kemp has joined the cast of Birds of a Feather.
The actor will make a special guest appearance in the first episode of the new series, playing a character called Vince.
Unsurprisingly, Lesley Joseph's Dorien takes an instant shine to him.
The new series of Birds of a Feather is currently filming and will air on ITV in 2016. It will be the show's 12th series in total and its third since moving to ITV last year.
Star Linda Robson recently explained why she turned down the chance to join Strictly Come Dancing, saying she didn't want to be the joke act.
However, she suggested that Joseph - who is currently appearing on ITV's Flockstars - would be a great addition to the dancing competition.

Well, that was something. ITV launched its new reality show Flockstars tonight and it's fair to say that we are utterly baffled.
The show sees a group of celebs learning how to become shepherds, so it's basically One Man And His Dog but with that one out of N-Dubz (no, not that one - and no, not that one either, he's still recovering from doing the fishing show on ITV 4... the other one).
We couldn't help but wonder what the heck we were watching. Are the contestants involved feeling sheepish now? (Sorry.) Was it just too woolly a concept for primetime? (Sorry.) Is it best if we move on from the terrible puns and onto the 15 questions we have about Flockstars? Probably.
1. Why is it so loud? Good God, the show began and the booming voice and loud music practically knocked us off our chairs. Won't somebody think of the sheepdogs?...

Linda Robson has turned down the chance to appear on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Birds of a Feather actress feared that she would become the "joke" of the show, and didn't want to traumatise her kids by making a fool of herself.

Remember Kinvig, Clone, Not With A Bang? These are the UK sci-fi sitcoms you’re unlikely to see on comedy best-of lists…
With E4 sci-fi comedy commissions, Tripped and Aliens, and in-development Channel 4 projects, Space Ark and Graham Linehan/Adam Buxton collaboration The Cloud, in the works, a new crop of sci-fi sitcom could be making its way to UK TV.
Making funny sci-fi on a small-screen budget is tough enough without the additional pressure of having to attract viewers more traditionally down-to-earth in their sitcom tastes. Sci-fi sets and effects can be seen as prohibitively expensive by comedy commissioners (which is perhaps why the best UK sci-fi sitcoms of recent years has been on BBC Radio), and the genre’s niche status doesn’t scream mainstream hit. Over the years, one or two stand-outs have managed to straddle the sci-fi and comedy TV worlds, but plenty more have stumbled in the attempt.

The 57-year-old actress believes the ''tide is changing'' in the TV industry, and that's why she's able to hold down two prime-time jobs in ITV's 'Loose Women' and the iconic BBC sitcom 'Birds of a Feather'. ITV has offered a first look at the new series of Birds of a Feather in a trailer for the upcoming Christmas special.
Pauline Quirke, Lesley Joseph and Linda Robson all return for what will be the comedy's second run for ITV - and the 11th overall.
Returning on Boxing Day, the eight-part run will kick off with Dorien treating Sharon and Tracey to a Christmas trip to the Canaries. However, as teased by the trailer, things don't go quite to plan for the trio.
The series, which was revived following a 15-year break and became ITV's most successful comedy launch in over a decade, has been penned by original writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, with Gary Lawson and John Phelp.
Speaking about the upcoming episodes, Gran said: "We're delighted Birds of a Feather was such a success on ITV, and really pleased to be asked to write another series.
