Fox
The Fox television network is reportedly working on creating a TV drama series based on the professional wrestling business. The project is in the developmental stage undergoing script revisions, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Just because it’s being developed doesn’t mean it will be picked up or given the green light, but it’s certainly an interesting idea.
There was actually a television show in 1988-89 called “Learning The Ropes” that starred former NFL player Lyle Alzado and was a comedy about wrestling. It wasn’t that good and didn’t last that long, but they did get a lot of wrestlers to appear on it.
Probably the most successful narrative production based on wrestling would be Darren Aronofsky’s 2008 drama The Wrestler, a movie which also included an Oscar nominated performance from Micky Rourke as the fading wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson.
