- UK cinema and video versions were cut by 14 secs by the BBFC to remove shots of nunchaku during a fight scene, as these were strictly outlawed in the UK at the time. The cuts were restored for the 2001 Columbia release.
- In the network TV version two scenes that involve a character reaching for a package of cigarettes have been edited; these include Friday reaching for a pack on his desk, which has been edited with a freeze-frame of the photo of his uncle (original Joe Friday played by Jack Webb) next it, and Emil Muzz reaching for a pack in his interrogation process, which is completely cut.
