During the first gig, when Sid hits Dick Dent with the bass guitar, you can clearly see the cable for the amp plugged in, but when he goes on stage to play, he has to plug the cable into the bass guitar. (In reality, the reporter's name was Nick Kent. He wrote for various publications such as the NME. They referred to him in the movie as "Dick Dent" as an insult.)

In one of the early pub scenes, the opening band for the Pistols is supposedly X-Ray Spex, belting out one of their best-known hits: "Oh, Bondage, Up Yours!" However, the lead singer Poly Styrene is depicted as rail thin, with long straight hair and no braces on her teeth; most surprisingly, she is portrayed as being white. In real life, Poly (Marion Eliott) is of Anglo-Somali parentage; and in 1977 she was not model thin, plus she had short curly hair and braces. This is because the group was originally meant to be Siouxsie and the Banshees, but they wouldn't give permission for the use of their songs.
In the movie, Sid (Gary Oldman) is frequently seen wearing a t-shirt with the hammer and sickle symbol printed on it. In reality, Vicious frequently wore a t-shirt containing a Nazi swastika symbol, but Alex Cox didn't want to put a swastika in the film.
When the Sex Pistols are playing live in the boat you can clearly hear a bass guitar, but Sid is in the toilet getting it on with Nancy.
The "My Way" gig differs from the original. For example, in the real version, Sid did not stop singing and he put a small, black revolver out of one pocket of his jacket, whereas in the movie he took a much bigger gun in silver and brown under his left arm. Part of this goof can be explained as artistic license, due to the fact that the original video did not feature Malcolm and Vivienne (portrayed in the movie as Phoebe) getting shot. Many exact details will be changed for artistic and dramatic purposes.
When Sid sings "My Way" and shoots the audience, you can see that the audience have fake blood packets in under their shirts and they are charges used to detonate when they are shot.
At about 16:30, when Sid and Wally are starting to walk through the market, a woman in front of them looks directly at the camera.
When Sid is at a bar in New York, he sees a television showing his ex-bandmate Johnny Rotten/Lydon being interviewed by Tom Snyder on Tomorrow Coast to Coast (1973). This interview between Lydon and Snyder did not air until June 25, 1980 - nearly 18 months after Sid had died from a heroin overdose.
