Brandon Lee plays the illegitimate son of David Carradine's character. Brandon's real-life father, Bruce Lee, auditioned for the lead role in the original TV series, "Kung Fu" (1972), but Carradine got the role instead. Adding to the Bruce Lee connection, Enter The Dragon composer Lalo Schifrin composed the score for this film.
Actors returning from "Kung Fu" (1972) were David Carradine, Keye Luke, Mako, Benson Fong, Roy Jenson and Tad Horino. Only Carradine, as Kwai Chang Caine, and Luke, as the blind Master Po, repeated their roles.
The title on screen is identical to the original TV series, "Kung Fu" (1972).
Like the series that preceded it, "Kung Fu" (1972), this story is set 100 years in the past (1886).
