For the first time ever, NBC’s long-running reality TV show “The Voice” did not reveal the runner-up during the season finale. Instead, Todd Tilghman was declared the winner of Season 18 while the other two remaining artists, Toneisha Harris and Thunderstorm Artis, had to wonder where they placed based on America’s votes. Now that the dust has settled on Tuesday’s finale, the peacock network has officially announced the finishing order of the Top 5, following a Gold Derby inquiry. See below:
Winner: Todd Tilghman (Team Blake Shelton)
2nd place: Toneisha Harris (Team Blake)
3rd place: Thunderstorm Artis (Team Nick Jonas)
4th place: CammWess (Team John Legend)
5th place: Micah Iverson (Team Kelly Clarkson)

'Iowa is God's country,' says Chris Soules, America's First Farmer Bachelor or Affb. Chris was the hands-down fan favorite from last season of 'The Bachelorette' starring Andi Dorffman, mainly because of his charm, All-American good looks, and seemingly complete normality on a franchise riddled with potential sociopaths. In the requisite introductory sequence, Chris drives a tractor, gazes lovingly at his crops, and tastes a plant peas beans what is it as he declares that 'love is a lot like farming,' and uses the word 'journey' for the first of many times this season.

Brad Pitt is at his best as a baseball manager who pursues a less conventional route to success
In a classic essay in his 1954 book God's Country and Mine, the French-born but American-by-choice Jacques Barzun wrote: "Whoever wants to know the heart and mind of America had better learn baseball… That baseball fitly expresses the powers of the nation's mind and body is a merit separate from the glory of being the most active, agile, varied, articulate and brainy of all group games. It is of and for our century." This is probably one of the reasons why it has inspired so many remarkable Hollywood movies, a list now joined by the cynically or realistically named Moneyball.
Baseball is the quintessential national game, with its own mystique and built-in traditions, but it is also a cut-throat business where change and innovation are important. Moneyball brings these elements together in a...

What would 21-year-old Ozarks boys, and a blond high-school girl from Columbus, Ohio, think of his techno album? David Lynch wanted to know. Bobby Ampezzan hit the road
What comes to mind when I think of David Lynch? I came to his oeuvre late, having seen only bits of Dune as a boy and nothing at all of Twin Peaks. Later, horny and pimply, I'd heard about then rented Lost Highway – three times I paused that movie, then napped. At university, I saw The Straight Story and Mulholland Drive in the theatre, and Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart, and thought, meh. I am not a fan, but I fancy his semiotics, his use of signs and symbols that ask you to ask yourself: what comes to mind …?
Lynch has a new album of techno, Crazy Clown Time. At his request, I hiked up the highway to the heart of the Ozarks region,...

Nope, it's nothing to do with the Virginian metal band. Rather, Lamb of God will mark the directorial debut of Diablo Cody.Cody's new American gospel is a comedy involving a conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash. She heads for Las Vegas to let her hair down and taste some of the experiences she's missed. But her quest to become a pariah is set to fail and, feeling the absence of the sacred, and not enjoying being a devil in God's country, she makes a spiritual journey back to her roots. That doesn't sound like comedy gold to us, to be honest, but Cody will be unperturbed as she's long since stopped reading her critics. "I've been on a long media fast," she said recently. "As a writer, I'm in a vacuum."Cody, of course, came out of nowhere to rapturous acclaim with her screenplay...

Yesterday over on HuffPo, Aaron Sorkin wrote a vicious piece on Sarah Palin, in response to her shooting and killing a Caribou on her Tlc reality show, "Alaska." It needs to be read in full to fully appreciate it, but here's the most I'm allowed to fully quote without running afoul of fair use laws (actually, it probably does run afoul, but fuck it):
I eat meat, chicken and fish, have shoes and furniture made of leather, and PETA is not ever going to put me on the cover of their brochure and for these reasons Palin thinks it's hypocritical of me to find what she did heart-stoppingly disgusting. I don't think it is, and here's why.
Like 95% of the people I know, I don't have a visceral (look it up) problem eating meat or wearing a belt. But like absolutely everybody I know, I don't relish the idea of torturing animals.
