Charley's father, Angelo "Pop" Partanna (John Randolph), is a longtime friend of Don Corrado Prizzi (William Hickey), the head of the family. When Charley was born, both Corrado and Angelo were so overjoyed that Charley was a boy, they made a solemn pact that Charley would rise to the top of the ranks in the Prizzi organization. Charley did just that and became one of their most loyal, trusted and effective enforcers.
