- A small "Dance-ercize" studio fights for its existence against the unscrupulous owner of a rival club. The conflict boils down to a "Dance Marathon" to settle the score.—Kevin Thom <kthom@chat.carleton.ca>
- With her friends KC and Patty, single mom Samantha Blair is able to quit her mundane secretarial job and open Heavenly Bodies, her dream aerobics/dancercize studio in a converted warehouse. In large part due to Samantha's own charisma, Heavenly Bodies becomes a minor success. She and the studio are in direct competition with fitness giant Jack Pearson's fitness club, Jack Pearson's Sporting Life. Samantha's next direct competition with Jack's group is in an audition for the aerobics instructor position for a new local fitness show on television, with the lead candidate being Jack's well known lead instructor and love interest Debbie Martin, who figures she's got the job in the bag because of Jack's association with the show's director. Despite Jack's own attraction to Samantha, their David versus Goliath battle culminates in an aerobics dance marathon, which, by winning, Samantha hopes will show that she can fight Jack's corporate and financial power. By her side is her boyfriend, football player Steve Pozniak, who she first met when he and the rest of his team were reluctant participants in her class. Samantha and Steve's relationship ultimately may not be compatible with her professional aspirations.—Huggo
