When Dixie goes to ransom Frenchy there is a different amount of shaving cream on Mad Dog's face in every shot.
At about 9m into the film, there is a scene where Richard Gere pulls the bed sheet up close to the lady's arm but in the next shot, where Gere is sitting, the bed sheet is near to the lady's waist.
When the film is supposed to be in 1929, both "Stormy Weather," and "Ill Wind" are performed. "Stormy Weather" was written in 1933, "Ill Wind" in 1934.
Owney Madden moved to the United States at age 10, and spoke with an American accent, not with an English accent as Bob Hoskins does.
During the montage song Ill Wind there is a shot of coins and bills being poured out. The dimes in the shot are Roosevelt dimes, not produced until 1946.
