Banijay Nordics has become the latest production business to restructure.
The Nordic arm of Banijay Entertainment is unifying its Sweden-based scripted and non-scripted production arms under two labels.
The scripted brand, Jarowskij/Yellow Bird, will bring together the scripted wing of Jarowskij and Wallander maker Yellow Bird. Elin Kvist, VP and Creative Director of Yellow Bird, is stepping up to become CEO of the merged label, with current Yellow Bird CEO Jakob Feeney taking on a consultancy role as COO/Head of Business Affairs. Malin Launch is taking on a Head of Production role, while interim CEO at Jarowskij, Johannes Jensen, will take a broader exec position at Banijay Nordics as Group Head of Scripted.
The unscripted unit will bring together Meter and Jarowskij’s entertainment and factual production assets under Madelene Hansson, who was previously CEO of Meter. Jarowskij’s Magnus Gustafson will be Chief Creative Officer.

In the 1980s, Hollywood didn’t quite know what to do with Rutger Hauer. The actor broke out in a pretty major way following his acclaimed turn in Paul Verhoeven’s Soldier of Orange, paving the way for his American debut in the Sylvester Stallone thriller Nighthawks, where he played the villain Wulfgar. His performance as Roy Batty in Blade Runner blew people away, and for a while, it looked like he might become the next big Hollywood heartthrob, especially when he signed on to star in the epic adventure film Ladyhawke opposite Michelle Pfeiffer for Richard Donner.
But major stardom didn’t happen? Why? Perhaps it was because the movies of Hauer’s that did best at the box office were the ones where he played the villain, such as The Hitcher. He was so unforgettable as a bad guy that when he played a hero, such as in...

Exclusive: Channel 4 is resting Sas: Who Dares Wins for the foreseeable future as it “shifts focus” to the celebrity version.
An extended eight-episode run of Celebrity Sas will start filming in the coming weeks but the original ‘civilian’ version, which most recently aired its eighth season, will likely not return to screens for some time, if at all.
A Channel 4 spokesman said the decision was being made “due to the huge success of Celebrity Sas” and insiders stressed the move isn’t being made for cost-cutting reasons.
“We have shifted our focus to prioritise this strand,” added the spokesman. “As a result, a longer run eight part series is due to commence filming in the summer whilst ‘Civilian’ Sas will be rested.”
The latest season of Minnow Films’ ‘civilian’ version finished in February and was watched by around 1.5M viewers per episode, while last year’s celebrity version secured approximately 2M for each instalment.

A timeless classic is being given a new lease of life with the launch of THEC64 Mini… Yes, hot on the heels of Nintendo’s two “mini” releases, the classic Commodore 64 is getting the same treatment – this time courtesy of Retro Games Ltd. and distributors Koch Media. And as someone who grew up with the C64 (I didn’t get an Nes ’til very late in the consoles life – mainly because it was too expensive, as were the games) I’m even more excited for this re-release of the classic home computer than the just-released Snes Mini!
THEC64 Mini is a fully licensed re-imagining of the 80’s bestselling home computer, half the size of the original (hence the mini), which connects directly to your television and comes with a classic joystick, that plugs into one of the two Usb ports available, allowing you to play the built-in games. As befits...

The teenager whose illness is a moving highlight of the director's Christmas documentary is now on the mend
No one who watches Kevin Macdonald's new documentary film will forget the scene: standing at the hospital bedside of his desperately sick grandson on Christmas Day last year, 90-year-old Bill Reid, a former second world war pilot, has only one wish. He asks for the chance to see his entire family together again next Christmas Day. And it seems that, a year on, his wish has been granted.
The sickroom vignette – which shows 20-year-old Will Pope's efforts to speak, as he lies, surrounded by his relatives and attached to life-support machines – forms a key moment in Macdonald's latest cinematic collage, Christmas in a Day, about the British approach to the festive season. The Oscar-winning director, who made The Last King of Scotland and Touching the Void, has put together footage...
