Sex & Nudity

  • From series 1-3 The Bill was aired in a post-watershed timeslot. Throughout this period there were several episode featured strong scences of nudity.
  • The first 3 seasons were shown in a post watershed timeslot which allowed for strong scenes of nudity in some episodes. In season 4 when the show moved to a pre-watershed timeslot, nudity is always mild if featured in an episode. Sex is often referred to but no strong sexual activity is ever shown.
  • Some Episodes feature storylines of rape/sexual assault.

Violence & Gore

  • Scenes of violence were often occasional and not too severe for the most part, however some episodes featured scences of strong violence. Domestic violence, and gun and knife crimes were sometimes featured or referred to. Police officers can be seen attending to victims of assaults, muggings, or stabings/shootngs who are are severely bruised and/or bleeding.

Profanity

  • Varied from season to season, in the first 3 seasons swearing/profanity was more frequently used. However from season 4 onwards lagauge was generally mild, however some episodes featured the occasional use of strong language.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drug crimes, and alcohol related offences are often referred to in detail. Drug and alcohol use has appeared on screen.
  • Characters and guests stars have been portrayed on screen taking drugs and being drug affected and/or intoxicated.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • No real frightening intense scences for the most part. Car persuits were often featured. Unexpected incidents have sometimes occurred onscreen.
