Growing up without parents, they live in squalour, unwashed, unkempt, ill mannered and generally boisterous and boorish. Enter Indu (Hema Malini) into their lives, and a clean up begins. Indu's friend Seema, is a wealthy but wheel chair bound heiress who lives in a palatial house with her uncle, and six other girls. Babu, Ravi's look alike swops places with Ravi while Seema and her friends become house guests in the boys home. Seema is the object of a scheme where she is to be killed. The greedy uncle is at the nexus of the plot. Love, respect and propriety prevails.—MG Gopalan
- "Satte Pe Satta" is the story of seven brothers living on a large farmhouse. The first half of the movie shows the life of the brothers who grow up under the leadership of their oldest brother Ravi (Amitabh Bachchan). Being orphans and uneducated, all seven brothers are unsophisticated bumpkins and lack social etiquette and hygiene. They live on a farm among animals. Som (Sudhir), Mangal (Shakti Kapoor), Budh (Paintal), Guru (Kanwaljit Singh), Shukra (Vikram (Vicky) Sahu), Shani "Sunny" (Sachin). Ravi bully's them into doing all the chores around the house. All the brothers are super angry when Sunny takes advantage of being the youngest to protect himself from Ravi's commands. They trick Sunny into taming one of the wildest horses on the farm, making him believe that the one who tames it would get a week's freedom from all chores and a tummy full of food. Sunny attempts to tame the horse and is injured before Ravi saves him. Ravi is angry at his brothers and cries and offers to leave. Sunny gets up and reveals that he is unhurt and says he pretended to be hurt so that everyone could see that Ravi would give his life for his brothers.
Ravi meets his friend Shekhar (Vijayendra Ghatge) in a bar, who tells him how his girlfriend left him because he lost his job. Sheela (Sarika) is Shekhar's girlfriend and works in a hospital. But Ravi barges in and yells at Indu, without realizing she is not Sheela. Indu slaps Ravi and storms out. Sheela overhears the conversation and makes up with Shekhar. Meanwhile, Ravi falls in love with Indu (Hema Malini). He serenades her at Shekhar and Sheela's wedding. Indu despises unruliness and chaos. Therefore, Ravi tricks her into believing that he has only 1 younger brother, Shani and thus Indu eventually marries him in a court ceremony. Indu comes home only to realize he has five more brothers, all uneducated and uncouth. she also realizes that Ravi had promised them a domestic help, which hurts Indu. the 5 brothers realize their mistake and beg her to stay. Ravi's six brothers learn to adjust with a new woman in their lives as she does with them, trying to civilize them.
Soon enough (one day Ravi plans a picnic and then pretends to have a stomach ache to hold Indu Behind and send his bros out), they all fall in love with a group of six women (Mangal's (Prema Narayan), Budh's (Madhu Malhotra), Guru's (Asha Sachdev), Shom's (Aradhana), Shani's (Rajni Sharma), Shukra's (Nazneen)), who are friends with a paraplegic heiress (and the feeling is mutual) Seema Singh (Ranjeeta Kaur). The boys are introduced to the girls when they save Seema from a boulder hurtling towards Seema at the beach. The girls invite the boys to a dance party.
Shortly things take a turn when Babu (Amitabh Bachchan), Ravi's lookalike, is hired by the heiress's guardian, Ranjit Singh (Amjad Khan), to kill her for possession of her ancestral property. At the dance party, 6 boys challenge the brothers for the girls and this leads to a big fracas in which Ravi gets involved and the brothers collectively kick butt. Indu is not happy that they boys took the path of violence. Back home, the brothers are so depressed, that Ravi takes them all to the girl's home and kidnaps all of them to bring them back to the farmhouse (Ravi brings Seema with him as well). Indu finds this out and the girls all stay with her. The next day Seema has a fever and the girls have to stay at the farmhouse for a few days. Babu could not execute Seema as Seema was not at her house (she was at the farmhouse).
Ranjit imprisons Ravi when he comes to the city for a few days for provisions (Ranjit had visited Seema at the farmhouse while Ravi was away and Indu had asked Ranjit to send over medicines via Ravi) (Ranjit intoxicated Ravi and got him to tell everything about his brothers and family) and sends Babu back to the farmhouse to impersonate him. Indu tells Babu (thinking he is Ravi) that she is pregnant and wants to sleep with him, but Babu makes an excuse and gets out. Babu tries to murder Seema, but because of the shock, Seema regains control over her legs and is able to walk again. Seema starts loving Ravi.. Babu spends many days with the family. Overcome with guilt, Babu confesses his true intent. The family forgives him because he did not take advantage of Indu. Babu takes the brothers to Ranjit's lair where they rescue Ravi and defeat Ranjit. Seema leaves for her new life with Babu
