Sex & Nudity

  • Charles' and Sebastian's backsides are seen after they are sunbathing.
  • Charles' backside is seen again at the end of a shower.
  • Sebastian is seen in a bathtub but nothing below the shoulders is shown.
  • At a party, a naked man walks by and is seen from the side.
  • Celia is seen in a bathtub but nothing below her neck is shown.
  • Charles and Julia are seen having sex but the props hide everything except one breast.

Violence & Gore

  • Mulcaster gets Charles a job in security as the war approaches. There is one scene of Mulcaster trying to break up a riot that gets out of hand and Mulcaster is hit in the head with a cabbage but this scene is played almost comedically for slap-stick and isn't very violent.

Profanity

  • Very mild profanity. The main characters are civilized aristocrats who are not in the habit of vulgarity.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Since one of the major themes of the movie is how Sebastian falls deeper and deeper into alcoholism and his life is falling apart because of it, there is a tremendous amount of drinking throughout. Sebastian even has an accident while driving drunk. This story is good at illustrating the dangers of too much drink.
  • There is also a lot of smoking throughout but the smoking is because this is a period movie set in a time when they had no idea smoking was bad.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • No frightening or intense scenes
