It feels like Nicholas Galitzine is everywhere these days. He clearly has a knack for playing royals — he starred as Prince Henry in Prime Video’s Red, White & Royal Blue in 2023 and is now making waves with his portrayal of George Villiers in Starz’s steamy historical drama Mary & George. Coupled with high-profile projects like The Idea of You on the horizon, the 29-year-old actor is well on his way to becoming Hollywood’s next “it” boy.
But before Galitzine was starring opposite Anne Hathaway, he got his start the way many rising actors do: on Lifetime. One of his earliest projects was Lifetime’s 2017 horror movie The Watcher in the Woods, where he played Marcus, a teenage boy who lives on a farm in a small Welsh village.

National Geographic’s new female-led docuseries Queens premieres March 4th on National Geographic and will stream on Disney+ and Hulu the next day.
“Helmed by a female-led production team from around the world — groundbreaking in the natural history space — and guided by powerful narration from award-winning actress Angela Bassett, Queens is bringing the natural world into focus through the female lens for the very first time.”
Did you catch the magnificent trailer for FX’s Shogun during the Super Bowl? It was a daunting task to remake the classic miniseries, and it almost didn’t happen.
“It wasn’t just the length; it was the subject matter, or Marks’ impression of it, from the book’s reputation and from its famed 1980 miniseries adaptation: his notion of a story about a white European arriving in a strange land. ‘The silhouette of a character who kind of looks like me, wearing clothes...

"Halloween Kills" might be one of the weaker installments in the long-running "Halloween" franchise, but one of its stars is anything but. The new book "Halloween: The Official Making of Halloween, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends" includes a whole bunch of great behind-the-scenes stories about the new trilogy's production, including one about "Halloween Kills" actor Kyle Richards. Richards, a former child actress who is perhaps now best known as a castmate on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," played Michael Myers survivor Lindsey in the recent David Gordon Green movie (a role she originated in the 1978 classic), and apparently went above and beyond when it came to the film's stunt scenes.
In one scene, according to Abbie Bernstein's book, Richards was tasked with smacking the seemingly invincible killer known as The Shape with a sack of foam meant to be a stand-in for a bag of bricks. The foam...

"Five Nights At Freddy's" just premiered in theaters and on Peacock, and the adaptation of a much-loved horror video game is already garnering strong reactions from fans and critics alike. While some folks flocking to theaters have been waiting nearly a decade to see the animatronic antics of Freddy Fazbear and his murderous friends on screen, newcomers to the franchise are also getting the chance to see what the fuss (or should I say fuzz?) is all about.
Though the "Five Nights At Freddy's" game franchise created by Scott Cawthon features nine video games and assorted spinoffs and the complex lore to match, the new movie introduces the universe with a seemingly simple premise. What if a night-time security guard (Josh Hutcherson) at a Chuck E. Cheese-type pizza joint ends up discovering that the robot animals meant to entertain kids during the daytime actually come alive at night? Add...

Like so many before and after him, Frank Laloggia had a hard time when he first started out in the film business. Yet after booking several roles as an actor, the Rochester native seemed to finally catch his big break. He had been given the chance to write and direct a feature film. Unfortunately, Laloggia’s disillusionment with the industry set in while working on 1981’s Fear No Evil. Severe studio interference was the main cause of his disappointment, and as a result, Laloggia took an extended break from filmmaking. However, the time off between his debut and Lady in White proved to be beneficial; Laloggia returned from his long leave with what many regard as the best film of his career.
With a story partly based on a well-known urban legend from the director’s neck of the woods, it was understandable when people assumed Laloggia’s sophomore film...

"Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" might be the ideal stepping stone for younger horror fans not yet ready for the really intense stuff. The film came out in 2019, but it harkens back to creepy older family films like "The Watcher in the Woods" and "Return to Oz" -- that is, films that put their young protagonists in legitimately horrifying situations and left you wondering if they'd make it out okay. "Scary Stories" goes even further by having terrible things actually happen to its heroes. The only problem is it backtracks on this a little at the very end, tacking on a short epilogue that ties up some loose plot threads a little too neatly while also setting the stage for a sequel.
That's far from a dealbreaker, however, and general audiences were just as keen on the film as critics, with "Scary Stories" racking up $95.6 million at the...

For a few years there back in the early ’80s, Disney took a turn to the dark side, releasing live-action movies like “The Watcher in the Woods” (featuring a creepy late-career Bette Davis) and “Something Wicked This Way Comes” (from the mind of Ray Bradbury) that were intense enough to inspire nightmares — in kids, at least. The youngsters of that time are now parents, and some are surely asking themselves how far they can trust Disney not to traumatize another generation when a movie like “Haunted Mansion” comes along.
Truth be told, the PG-13-rated feature — which marks the studio’s second big-screen adaptation of its spooky theme park attraction — isn’t really that scary. Director Justin Simien (“Dear White People”) leans more on comedy than horror, bringing together a handful of funny stars to deal with Gracey Manor’s ghost problem. The result is certainly a lot less frightening...

At the end of the 70s and beginnings of the 80s, Disney decided to take a turn into a darker side of cinema, at least for them. In 1979 they released The Black Hole, a sci-fi epic which had among its cast Anthony Perkins, best known for Psycho as well as a space station manned by animated corpse/robot hybrids. The film would include an ending which would literally show the villain of the piece in hell in penance for his crimes for all eternity. The following year would be another creepy sci-fi entry The Watcher In The Woods.
Following these films would be the gory fantasy epic Dragonslayer. That film actually showed a real Disney Princess being eaten by blind baby dragons on camera. So to round out a really fantastic run of Dark movies the House of Mouse went all in with a fantasy film that covered themes of death,...

Is there something supernatural in the remote wilderness? Or was the most evil creature of them all man this whole time? It's possibly the biggest mystery "Yellowjackets" fans have been trying to unravel since season 1. We already know the show's protagonists will eventually commit horrendous acts in their efforts to survive being stranded in the great Canadian north as teenagers. But is there also an entity in the wild egging them on? Perhaps, though it's pretty clear by now the members of Wiskayok High School's 1996 girls' soccer team are more than capable of breaking bad by themselves.
With season 2 right around the corner (read /Film's review here), co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco spoke to SFX Magazine about all those fan theories regarding that enigmatic sigil that keeps popping up on the series. If there is a sinister presence out there in the wilderness — something Lisco was very careful to avoid either confirming...

Potential spoilers for "The Watcher" follow.
Between "Dahmer" and "The Watcher," Netflix's recent wave of true crime shows are getting a lot of attention. After all, there's just something deeply chilling about watching real-life cases play out. As someone who has zero tolerance for horror and still remembers being terrified when a middle school teacher forced my class to watch Disney's "The Watcher in the Woods" (I probably spent half the movie hiding in the bathroom — so much for movies in class being fun), true crime brings its own unnerving addition: the knowledge that the events on-screen could happen to just about anyone.
But while the Jeffrey Dahmer murders have been recounted time and time again, "The Watcher" is based on a relatively unknown case: the stalking and harassment of the Broaddus family (renamed Brannock in the show). Not only does the unfamiliarity bring a new level of discomfort,...

Nicholas Galitzine (Purple Hearts) has been tapped to star alongside Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway in Prime Video’s film The Idea of You, based on Robinne Lee’s bestselling contemporary love story of the same name, which goes into production in October.
The film from Emmy-nominated director Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) centers on Sophie (Hathaway), a 40-year-old divorced mother. Sophie’s husband Dan left her for a younger woman, and now he has canceled his Coachella trip with their 15-year-old daughter. Sophie then picks up the pieces, braving the crowds and desert heat in Dan’s place. While at the music festival, she meets 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the lead singer of the hottest boy band on the planet, August Moon.
Amazon Studios partnered with Welle Entertainment to develop The Idea of You as a starring vehicle for Hathaway back in June of last year, as we told you first.

Exclusive: Word is getting around that British actor Nicholas Galitzine has won the role of Prince Robert in Sony’s upcoming Camila Cabello musical Cinderella.
After a long search, Galitzine, I hear, wowed the filmmakers in many chemistry readings. In addition to Cabello, the actor joins Idina Menzel and Billy Porter (as the fairy godmother) in the Kay Cannon-directed and scripted feature. James Corden produces and has a story by credit. A production start is scheduled for February for a Feb. 5, 2021 release.
Galitzine’s first big film break came at the age of 20 about five years ago when he scored a role opposite Luke Perry in John Williams’ The Beat Beneath My Feet which played the Berlinale in 2015. In that movie Galitzine played Tom, a teenage loner who discovers his rock god neighbor has faked his death over tax fraud and blackmails him into becoming his guitar teacher.

The casting announcements continue to roll out for director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills, and this one reveals that another traumatized child from the original 1978 John Carpenter movie is returning to be traumatized all over again.
According to Halloween Movies, Kyle Richards, who played one of the two kids that was babysat in the first film while Michael Meyers was out murdering people, will reprise her role of Lindsey Wallace all these years later.

Uma Thurman will headline Chambers, a supernatural-ish Netflix television drama.
Uma Thurman is headlining Chambers, a Netflix TV series that will manifest as a 10-episode hourlong offering with supernatural themes.
Netflix gave the project a straight-to-series order back in January 2018. It is the creation of writer Leah Rachel, an actress who's been juggling creative duties, having written for the 2012 TV series, Audrey, and directed a few short films. Rachel will serve as co-showrunner with Akela Cooper, who wields more experience in that department, having written and produced shows such as Luke Cage, American Horror Story, The 100 and Grimm.
Chambers will depict the story of a young heart attack survivor whose life was saved by a heart transplant. However, she starts to raise crucial questions about her new heart, eventually learning the terrible truth about the donor’s death. Eventually, things take a supernatural turn for the...

Riverdale is a show that thrives on the concept of drama in the simplest form. The show has done a great job of establishing itself as an overly dramatic show that essentially converts comic book level of exaggeration into a television form, and it works perfectly. Season 2 has wasted no time in getting straight to the conflict with a murderer going around Riverdale and murdering the people he believes to be “sinners.” It begs an interesting question of what makes a person bad? On one hand, the killer has to realize that he is criticizing and going after high

Thanks to a letter sent to Alice, the killer on Riverdale now has a name (the Black Hood) and Archie decided to fight back with a group of watchdogs (not vigilantes), the Red Circle, in "Chapter 16: The Watcher in the Woods." Also, Jughead got a taste of what life at Southside High is like and Betty didn't approve of Kevin's "night jogging."

Last week's episode ended with a cliffhanger of sorts, and this week's episode resolved it. However, it also introduced a few questions of its own. Read on for Us Weekly's recap of "The Watcher in the Woods," but be careful of spoilers if you haven't yet caught up on the series.
Via Us Weekly.
Things were much calmer in the Wednesday, October 25, episode of Riverdale, but there were still some big revelations. Read our recap to find out what Archie and his friends were up to in “Chapter Sixteen: The Watcher in the Woods.”
The Red Circle
This episode picked up at the exact moment last week’s ended. Kevin (Casey Cott), who was in the woods for reasons we’ll get into later, heard gunshots and ran to see what was going on.

Archie forms a vigilante army! Jughead makes new friends! Betty gives the Gas Face! All this and more in an eventful Riverdale!
This review contains spoilers.

Bottom line: This was an excellent episode that had character development aplenty and some genuinely unsettling moments.
Let's get my only issue with the instalment out of the way up-front: I was not a fan of how quickly the attack on Moose and Midge was rolled back. Last week's ending was shocking, and a call to arms that told viewers that anything could, and probably would, happen on this show. So for Moose and Midge to be as unscathed as they are given how dire things looked last week feels like a cop-out.

Earlier this year, D.J. Caruso’s Disturbia turned 10 years old, and since I was already chatting with him for Happy Death Day, I could not resist chatting with Christopher Landon about the project, which became a turning point in his career as a then up-and-coming screenwriter with huge aspirations.
He discussed how Martha Stewart was the inspiration behind Disturbia, as well as how he channeled his own personal grief into the script. Landon also gave his thoughts on why we always need good PG-13 horror films (and that’s a sentiment this writer is very much in agreement with).
One movie that I feel deserves a little more love is Disturbia, and it turned ten years old earlier this year. I really enjoyed it, and I know it's cool to hate on Shia Labeouf now and everything, but I loved him in it. And he has this great relationship with Carrie-Anne Moss,...

You never know where you are going to get the next comic book film announcement, especially here at San Diego Comic-Con. On Thursday during the FX Legion panel, the creator of Legion Noah Hawley made a surprise announcement on what comic book character he is working on bringing back to the big screen. Here it is in hos own words:
“I’ll just say two words. The first one is Doctor and the next one is Doom.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hawley is developing a future project that is centered around one of Marvel's most powerful villains. Fox has been looking to revive the Fantastic Four franchise after a few films that did not sit well with Marvel fans the 2005 Fantastic Four and the 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Then there was the reboot in 2015 of the heroes by Josh Trank that did terribly critically and commercially.

Star Wars is a franchise that has been around for four full decades. Its impact on pop culture is undeniable, and yet if there’s one thing that’s been proven is that folks don’t get tired about hearing about all the stories surrounding its making. It seems like every year, some new bits of information surface, and it makes for an incredibly interesting archaeological project of sorts. No matter how deep we dig, or how carefully we clean up the artifact, there always seems to be plenty of new discoveries.

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has certainly had an interesting career. He’s one who has had his films deeply embedded in horror aspects. Looking back at some of his early work like Cronos, it was clear the man had a penchant for the macabre, and it served him quite well. Del Toro went on to helm such films as Blade II, and perhaps most notably, Pan’s Labyrinth.
Pan’s Labyrinth was a defining piece of work. While Blade II was certainly a big hit when it came out in theaters, not many thought to look behind the curtain of the film itself. Blade II allowed him to move on to Hellboy, which gave him more mainstream attention, but with Pan’s Labyrinth, it finally seemed like we had a grip over what his style was capable of. Set in 1940s span, the film was a dark fairy tale that...

The events will once again take place at the Horse Hospital. Disgusting, or shocking, are words often used to inform the audience what awaits them in a horror film. When a film is about demon rape, lurid immediately comes to mind. However, if you have a restrained (and respected) British horror director at the helm, will the results be different? Incubus (1982) is a fascinating shocker that attempts to walk the line between classy whodunit and lascivious bloodlust.
Released in September by Artists Releasing Corporation, Incubus (or, The Incubus according to the poster) had a large budget for a horror title at the time (5.1 million Cad) and was not a draw at the box office. Reviews were mostly dismal as well, and considering the subject matter, this is not surprising. ‘Demon rape’ does not scream fun night out at the movies. However, Incubus provides many moments of terror designed with the discerning horror fiend in mind. It’s an underappreciated gem.
