- West German theatrical version was cut by ca. 5.5 minutes. A similar version was released by Paramount on DVD, this version misses a few seconds more although parts of this footage appear in the TV version.
- The Italian cut differs quite a bit from the American cut, released in various parts of the world. These are a few scenes that do not appear in some cuts of the film:
- After the scene at the military base where they locate H7-25. The opening credits begin in a church with a lot of children (including Cary Guffey) singing "Holy night". After that, the Sheriff appears dressed as Santa Claus. Then we cut the scene of the helicopters arriving to the Sheriff's house.
- When H7-25 takes the Sheriff's car, the Sheriff stops an old woman's convertible. While we see H7-25 arriving at the military restricted area, protected by a metal door, which opens with his black devise.
- After the Sheriff and H7-25 are thrown out by the military after the fight with the woodcutters, the Sheriff and the kid have a little conversation before moving on to the bar scene.
- After the fight at the bar with the "Dynamite Brothers", the Sheriff appears in the forest looking for H7-25 which he finds in a puddle of mud unconscious. From there we go to the scene of H7-25 sick in bed.
