If you grew up during the 1980s and the 1990s like myself, you gotta check out this video created by Smash TV called Megaplex. It’s the ultimate audio and visual nostalgia trip: a mashup of over 80 movies, fake trailers, and more edited together with some retro music from the era. This thing is absolutely ridiculous in the greatest of ways and it made me miss the good ol’ days. Here’s the note that came along with the video:
Megaplex is the most insane double feature the world has ever seen. With a running time of 80 minutes and thousands of cuts from more than 80 movies, Smash TV has spent the past year and a half cramming the most entertainment possible into every second. It's dense enough to pressurize these diamonds in the rough into gleaming treasures.Megaplex is the long awaited followup to the critically acclaimed Skinemax, much more fully realized,...

As one of the fastest rising stars in Edm at the moment, it was really just a matter of time before we got a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from Mr. Oliver Heldens. Keeping in suit with his deep house/groovy style, the two hours of music delivers exactly what you’d expect.
From the producer’s own hits like “Gecko” and “Koala,” to some of the biggest songs of 2014 (“Light Years Away,” “A Sky Full Of Stars,” “Blame,” etc.) the mix is a pleasure to listen to from start to finish. In fact, it could very well make a case for Best Essential Mix of 2014, as it definitely rivals some of the more impressive ones that we’ve heard from BBC Radio 1 this year. If nothing else, though, it’s a great way for the young DJ to cap off his truly incredible breakout year.

People love being part of something a lot of other people are part of. They love the weird madness and ecstasy of crowds. Preferably crowds of strangers, crowds that turn into subcultures on the spot, where being part of something is their central reason for being. It's primitive, tribal. (Witness the whitest flash mob since hockey: SantaCon.) These days, art loves crowds too. The Museum of Modern Art's techno-showy Rain Room and the Guggenheim's blah, mall-like James Turrell light show saw huge lines for admission. Lately, these lines have appeared at galleries, too. Since November 6, when it opened, there have been long lines outside David Zwirner Gallery at the windy tip of far West 19th Street, everyone waiting to spend 45 seconds in Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room — The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away. (It closes this Saturday.) This booth-size room is dark except for 75...

Kim Kardashian was spotted having a bite at La Scala in Beverly Hill, Calif. on Nov. 14. She wasn’t wearing makeup and didn’t look her best. Is North keeping her up all night?
New mommy Kim Kardashian, 33, looks a little sleep deprived! We love that she has the confidence to go out without any makeup, and we feel her pain about not getting much sleep with a new baby in the house. Check out our top pick for keeping dark circles and under eye puffiness in check!
Kim Kardashian Without Makeup — An Eye Rescue
Kim was photographe bare-faced while having a bite with old Bff Brittny Gastineau. Wearing all white, Kim looked so different — because she was pale! You know that she’s probably jonse-ing for a spray tan!
She’s been looking gorgeous lately — wearing revealing outfits to show off her amazing 43 pound weight loss!

In addition to being one of the most stunning science fiction sagas of all time, the Alien franchise is also one of the most storied and combative. From the raging debate over which is better: Alien or Aliens, through Fincher's ultimately futile attempt to vanish down the rabbit hole from pursuant, angry Fox executives, to Jeunet's ill-fated attempt to resist his own eccentricities and "go Hollywood," we're not short on talking points. In honor of the much-anticipated blu-ray release of the Alien Anthology (Quadrilogy wasn't a word, we knew it!), JustPressPlay revisits this breathtaking series (like we need an excuse) and examines every film, every cut, all the extras, and sees what's new.

Tuesday night (April 20) sees the official Broadway opening of "American Idiot," the musical based on Green Day's smash aggro-political 2004 album of the same name. That particular album makes perfect sense as a staged production, as there is a running story line and consistent characters built into the tunes. But Green Day's album catalog is deep, and provided that "American Idiot" does well, it could open up the band to more stage (and possibly screen) opportunities. In case they need some ideas, here is the scenario we dreamed up for the band's hit 1992 album Kerplunk.
Holden is 20 years old and used to be a golden boy, ranked near the top of his high school class and well on his way to escaping his small suburban town on the Michigan peninsula. But after his freshman year at an Ivy League school, his dad left, leaving him to try to rein in his alcoholic mother.

Rome -- The Locarno Film Festival will give its Leopard of Honor award for career achievement to Swiss director Alain Tanner in this year's edition, festival organizers said Thursday.
The 90-year-old Tanner whose 1969 drama "Charles mort ou vif" (Charles Dead or Alive) won Locarno's top prize, will also give a masterclass during the Aug. 4-14 lakeside festival.
Tanner, best known for "Les Annees lumiere" (Light Years Away), which won the jury prize in Cannes in 1981, is also one of the protagonists in the New Swiss Cinema movement.
In a statement, Tanner said he was "delighted" to receive the Leopard of Honor prize. "Locarno is a festival close to my heart, to which I am strongly attached, and one I have always supported."
Locarno artistic director Olivier Pere said the selection of Tanner would illustrate his "intelligence and independence."
