Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man is reaching new heights of popularity day by day. Although the series earned world recognition, it still had a long way to go before he could be deemed a legend in the anime and manga industry. However, a recent mention of Fujimoto’s magnum opus in another comic book franchise may have raised the stakes for Chainsaw Man.

DC’s release slate has been at a standstill ever since James Gunn’s announcement about Dcu’s first live-action film, Superman. His pet project, Peacemaker suffers too under Gunn’s self-impositions as the series’ Season 2 remains held up at Max until Superman is officially released worldwide.

Batman: The Animated Series is one of the most iconic pieces of television of all time, having laid the foundations for the Dcau as well as revolutionized storytelling in animation. One of the biggest reasons for its success has to be its co-creator, Bruce Timm, who has an innate understanding of the characters he portrays, which also helped him create other beloved projects like Justice League, Batman: Beyond, and Superman: The Animated Series.
Batman: The Animated Series
Despite these, the original 1992 series has to be one of his most significant works to date. Despite being as successful as it was, it is a difficult truth that the series was canceled due to a decline in its hype and quality. Since the release of its final season, however, its viewership has only grown, and it still stands as one of the best-animated works of all time.

These days you can get your comics info in all manner of ways. Publisher previews, sneak peeks from creators themselves, industry exposes, and so on. I put the greatest trust in the good old-fashioned word of mouth. Most of the books I didn’t know much about, or wasn’t aware of what was going on in them, I ended up picking up because of word of mouth and nothing else. If the buzz is good from people I know, and whose opinion I trust, that’s good enough for me. Which is why I’m sat here reading and reviewing Nightwing. I’ve been told that Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo have been hitting home runs on this book virtually every month, so I’ve come to see what all the fuss is about.
Overrated? Justified praise?...

Back in 2017, Warner Brothers announced a Nightwing feature film was on its way. The project would serve as an origin story for the masked identity adopted by Dick Grayson after relinquishing his role as Batman’s wisecracking sidekick, Robin. The studio tapped The Lego Batman Movie’s Chris McKay to helm the superhero caper, with a script by Ozark creator Bill Dubuque. Audiences eagerly awaited the beloved addition to the Dceu and the Bat Family, but then… nothing.
It appeared as if Nightwing joined the ranks of other shelved movies—most notably the Aquaman spinoff, The Trench, David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens, Ava DuVernay’s The New Gods, Greg Berlanti’s Booster Gold, and the Joe Manganiello-starring Deathstroke—in developmental or cancellation hell. But with McKay’s live-action directorial debut, the sci-fi blockbuster The Tomorrow War, landing on Amazon next month, he’s hoping the powers that be will sit up,...

Once upon a time ago, there was an idea. Oh wait, that’s Marvel. Once upon a time ago, executives at Warner Bros. had a plan. There was a thing called the so-called Snyderverse, Zack Snyder would lead it, and it would be the plan to take the DC Universe into the future. Dozens and dozens of films were put into development, but after the underperformance of the poorly received “Batman Vs.

One of the several movies that the DC Cinematic Universe has stuck on its development floor is the Nightwing movie. They even got director Chris McKay, the same man who helmed the Lego Batman movie, to direct the film. Sounds like a good plan, but sadly, the movie never really got past the development floor. Does that mean it will never happen? I personally hope it does, but I’ve learned to not get my hopes up. It’s mostly because I was one of the few people who was very much looking forward to the New Gods movie from Ava DuVernay.

Despite being around for over seven years, the Dceu has announced just as many projects that never made it out of development hell as it has actual movies. It took Warner Bros.’ shared mythology a long time to settle on a creative direction and that led to numerous titles like Green Lantern Corps, Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing, Ben Affleck’s The Batman and many more quickly stagnating before disappearing from memory entirely.
Justice League was initially announced as the first of a two-part saga, but as we all know, some serious behind the scenes turmoil plagued the Dceu’s all-star epic. Joss Whedon essentially reshot the entire movie at the request of the studio following Zack Snyder’s departure, which led to such a sustained level of backlash from fans that the 300 director was eventually invited back into the fold to finally complete his original vision.

First off, full confession, I have not read a single issue of this book before this one. No particular reason, but there are only so many hours in the day, and this was not a book that really registered on my radar. So why pick this up? Firstly, I love the character. I’ve been reading Barbara Gordon’s exploits as far back as the 1970’s, in various back-ups, and she was always a good character, though she endured a few mediocre adventures along the way. Obviously The Killing Joke changed things seemingly forever for Babs, and as Oracle she carved out another decent career. We’ve come full circle of course. The other reason I picked this up? I knew it was the last issue of the run, which tend to be very good, and also...

Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery is a popular fan cast for many Marvel and DC roles, like Nightwing or the Human Torch, but he’s more often than not linked to the part of Wolverine on social media. And it seems the actor would love to play the character, too, going by a recent post on Twitter. But what are we meant to read into the fact that he deleted it soon after?
Montgomery took to Twitter on Friday to share a piece of fan art from BossLogic depicting him as the McU’s Wolverine, complete with cigar and sideburns. The actor – who, like Hugh Jackman, is a native of Australia – shared the image without any caption. However, he’s since removed the tweet, which has left fans scratching their heads.

Having already spent years stuck in development hell, The Flash should be used to a setback or two by now, which is just as well given that the Scarlet Speedster’s long-awaited solo movie was pushed back again to November 2022 after Warner Bros.’ decision to move Dune to next year caused the studio to reshuffle their release schedule once more, just when the project was starting to gather some serious momentum.
Andy Muschietti is the fourth incumbent of the director’s chair, and he’s already got The Flash much further along the development process than any of his predecessors, generating massive buzz in the process by securing two huge casting coups and revealing that both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck would be returning to play Batman as the Dceu dives headfirst into the multiverse.

Veteran DC Comics and Batman scribe Scott Snyder is teaming up with superstar artist Tony Daniel for a new monthly series called Nocternal. The book, which will be the first published under Snyder’s new creator-owned imprint at Image Comics, Best Jackett Press, also includes colorist Tomeu Morey, letterer Deron Bennett, and editor Will Dennis.
“Nocternal takes place 10 years after the world is plunged into an everlasting night that turns all living creatures into monstrous ‘shades.’ Enter Valentina ‘Val’ Riggs, a skilled ‘ferryman’ who transports people and goods along deadly unlit roads with her heavily illuminated eighteen-wheeler,” reads the book’s description in a press release. “When an old man promising sanctuary offers Val a job to drive him and his granddaughter up through the Rocky Mountains, she takes it, hoping there might be some truth to his claim. With Warner Bros. looking to consolidate their comic book content under one roof following the announcement of several high-profile shows set to debut exclusively on HBO Max, questions are now being asked about what the future holds for DC Universe, the studio’s other streaming service that specializes in superhero stories.
Swamp Thing was canceled almost as soon as it hit the air, with The CW stepping in to pick up the rights to reruns, and there’s been rumors that the rest of DC Universe’s lineup could soon be heading to Warner Bros.’ in-house platform. While HBO Max are already co-producing Doom Patrol, the rights issues surrounding Titans make it an altogether trickier proposition.
A third season has already been announced, but with Netflix holding the international distribution rights, there’s little chance of the show becoming an HBO Max exclusive in the immediate future. That hasn’t...

Today brought some major DC news, as it was announced that The Batman is set to get a spinoff TV series based around the Gotham City Police Department. We’re told to expect similar projects to come in the future as part of Warner Bros.’ aims to create an expanded multi-platform franchise around Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight. Yes, this new show – based off Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka’s comics series Gotham Central – will take place in the same universe as the movie.
The news of this Gotham Central show, you see, hides a bigger confirmation about the nature of The Batman. In a statement released via The Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max – which will stream the series – stated that it will be “set in the world Reeves is creating for The Batman feature film and will build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was originally intended as just the beginning of Zack Snyder’s major plans for the Dceu, but needless to say things didn’t go as predicted, meaning much of the set-up in BvS has left fans scratching their heads in the years since. One of the biggest mysteries doomed to be left unanswered is the case of Robin’s death, as visually revealed through the Boy Wonder’s Joker-desecrated suit being on display in the Batcave.
Back in the day, we thought this might be further explored in Ben Affleck’s The Batman, but that wasn’t meant to be. With the incoming arrival of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, though, our hopes at getting more on this mystery are renewed. Sure enough, the filmmaker has confirmed to fans on Vero that his Jl will feature “a hint” at Robin’s demise. It...

It’s been a turbulent few weeks for the DC Universe.
With the launch of HBO Max looming over the horizon (Eta: May 27th), many fear that Warner’s superpowered streaming service will be left out in the cold – overshadowed by a premier service with a raft of digital content for the entire family. There is no smoke without fire, after all.
Be that as it may, Business Insider has today relayed a tidbit of news – a ray of hope, really – that may well future-proof Titans and the DC Universe, as a whole. The outlet spoke to a former Digital Labs employee, who claimed that the streaming service will be around “for at least another year or two,” during which time the Powers That Be will explore spinoff series based on the world of Titans.

There’s been a lot of talk lately in regards to whether or not DC Universe will be kept on as a streaming service, and that’s only ramped up in recent months as HBO Max looms on the horizon and promises a bumper collection of content.
Though DC Universe went live with significant fanfare from DC and Warner Bros., it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for the service since it first hit the scene. It’s got some solid shows – be it Doom Patrol, Titans or Harley Quinn, among others – but it’s continuously struggled to pick up – and indeed, keep – subscribers.
And now, with HBO Max promising to bring us big budget TV series like Justice League Dark and Green Lantern, not to mention the possibility of future Dceu movies premiering on the service instead of in theaters, it’s certainly starting to look like the more appealing option.

As stay-at-home orders started to crash over the world at the end of March, Diamond Comics Distributors announced that it would be suspending shipping of new books. Diamond has been functioning essentially as a monopoly for years, so this move meant, for all intents and purposes, the end of new comics releases, and it’s been that way for a month. But now, DC Comics announced that new comics will be hitting shops on April 28th, and the way they’re doing it could be a long-term shift in how we get the comic books we love.
The new releases are a scaled back list of new titles, not the full list of books one would expect to come from DC on a regular basis. Shipping on the 28th are Laura Marks & Kelley Jones’ Hill House book, Daphne Byrne #4; the final issue of Si Spurrier and Bilquis Evely’s run...

DC characters have been spread liberally across film and TV over the years, and the Teen Titans are no exception, being seen in the relatively decent animated kids’ series Teen Titans, the rather more childish Teen Titans Go! and its spinoff movie, DC Universe’s live action mediocrity Titans, animated movies Justice League vs. Teen Titans and The Judas Contract, and to a lesser extent the animated series Young Justice. Now, however, we’ve got a fan trailer which imagines what a live-action movie featuring the team might look like.
Like all comic book supergroups, the Teen Titans’ lineup has been varied over the years, although its most well-known roster comes from the ‘80s relaunch New Teen Titans, consisting of Robin, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg and Beast Boy, and is the one used in most adaptations.

One of the most unique takes on the Dark Knight, 2017’s The Lego Batman Movie spun off Will Arnett’s brooding version of Batman from The Lego Movie into his own picture. While the film was a commercial success, a transfer of corporate rights to the movie means that a planned sequel appears to be on hold, at least for the moment. Those who took part in the original are still keen to return to their characters, though, including Michael Cera as Robin.
Cera recently spoke to ComicBook.com about his enthusiasm for a Lego Batman sequel, and had this to say:
“I’d be so interested in it. I haven’t heard anything about it, but I would love that. It was such a great process working on that, and I’m such a fan of those Lego movies in general. I was so excited to be in that, because...

The Dark Knight Rises concluded Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy on a bold note, with Bruce Wayne finding a happy ending with Selina Kyle and moving away from Gotham. In his stead, orphan cop John Blake was shown to have discovered the Batcave, which told us he was an adaptation of Robin and would go on to protect the city as Nightwing.
After Rises first came out, there was a lot of talk about how much everyone wanted to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt lead a spinoff movie about Blake’s exploits, but Nolan’s wish to keep his trilogy self-contained and Warner Bros.’ desire to create a wide-ranging shared universe – the Dceu – put paid to that idea. In some other universe out there, though, a Nightwing movie actually happened and the above fan-made trailer from YouTube channel Smasher gives us as a taste of what it would’ve been like.

Marvel is hard at work on the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, that much we know for sure. But Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took things one step further back at Comic-Con when he told us the pic would feature Scarlet Witch as well.
Throw in the fact that DS2 is set to be the McU’s first horror film, which will be a welcome change of pace for the franchise, and things are looking pretty rosy for the project. Or at least, they were.

Young Justice has two overlapping, somewhat rabid, fan followings. First, there are those who delighted in Peter David’s energetic take on the young adult team, which led to the animated series on Cartoon Network.
In the hands of former DC assistant editor Greg Weisman, Young Justice developed a very unique voice of its own, carving an animated continuity all to itself, enjoying two seasons on cable before vanishing. Weisman, Brandon Vietti, and their team were rehired by DC Universe to produce a 26-episode third season, dubbed Young Justice: Outsiders, which aired in two sections throughout 2019.

One element in particular that’s made the Young Justice animated series intriguing is the time jumps between seasons. To cite a relevant example, season 2 saw Dick Grayson graduate to Nightwing, with Tim Drake taking up the mantle of Robin. Similarly, Kaldur’ahm has upgraded from being Aqualad to Aquaman in season 3.
Arguably, what’s happened off-screen could be seen as just as noteworthy. If you’ll recall, a hologram of a fallen Jason Todd was displayed during the show’s sophomore year letting us know that, yes, Batman had taken him under his wing at some point. Furthermore, one could only assume that Boy Wonder 2.0 was murdered by the Joker.
Similarly, Young Justice: Outsiders‘ latest batch of episodes tossed out a subtlety that some of you may not have caught. If you’re current on the series, than you likely noticed how Nightwing was communicating with Oracle on one of his recent missions,...

If you’re current on the show, then you no doubt remember how the young man calling himself “Robin 2.0” made his surprise debut two weeks ago. Then, he came back seven days later for the highly entertaining and Easter egg-filled episode named for him.
