Peetie (sic) Wheatstraw was a St. Louis blues singer who was quite popular in the thirties, known as "The High Sheriff from Hell" and "The Devil's Son-In-Law".
A sizable number of scenes were shot at the Dunbar Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Star Rudy Ray Moore was living in the Dunbar Hotel at the time this film was made.
Skillet (Ernest Mayhand) and Leroy (Leroy Daniels) were a comedy team who started out on the Chitlin' Circuit back in the 1940s, where they worked with the likes of Redd Foxx and LaWanda Page. Skillet and Leroy also appeared on Sanford and Son (1972).
The graveyard was actually a vacant lot right outside of the Dunbar Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
