Vidhu Vinod Chopra has produced some of the best in Bollywood from 1989’s Parinda, to 2003’s Munna Bhai Mbbs and the follow up Lage Raho Munna Bhai in 2005, Parineeta in 2005, 3 Idiots in 2009 and last year’s big hit Pk. After making some brilliant films in Bollywood, the director decided to pursue a long held dream of making a film in Hollywood. What is even cooler is that he is just not producing the film, he also wrote and directed the thriller titled Broken Horses. The film stars a huge cast of Hollywood stars including Vincent D’Onofrio (The Judge, Full Metal Jacket, Men In Black), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Alpha Dog) and Chris Marquette (Alpha Dog, The Girl Next Door) along with Spanish actress, Maria Valverde (Exodus), Thomas Jane, and Sean Patrick Flannery.
Broken Horses is about the bonds of brotherhood, the laws of loyalty, and the futility of violence.

Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage has been signed to star in a Bollywood gangster film, according to the 'Hindustan Times.' Bollywood director Vidhu Vinod Chopra is currently in Los Angeles working on his new film, 'Broken Horses,' and Cage will reportedly play a leading role in it.
'Broken Horses' is an English-language film—Chopra's first—about two brothers embroiled in the drug trade on the U.S.-Mexico border. It is said to be a loose remake of Chopra's acclaimed 1989 film 'Parinda,' which starred Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor (who appeared in the Western film 'Slumdog Millionaire' and the American TV show '24').
Chopra has said there's nothing Indian about 'Broken Horses' and it will be cast with Western actors. Award-winning American actor Mickey Rourke has reportedly been approached for an important role in it. The film will be shot in New Mexico and New York.

The First Indian Film Festival Of London
Not to be confused with last month's London Indian Film Festival, this event tends towards more socio-political matters – opening film Peepli Live (pictured), for example, wryly observes the media's treatment of a suicidal farmer. There's also a focus on director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who has worked at both ends of the spectrum. His 1978 doc An Encounter With Faces looked at Bombay street kids long before Slumdog Millionaire, but last year he produced buddy-romcom 3 Idiots, the top grossing Bollywood movie ever. Issues covered elsewhere include the western adoption of Indian babies, the Bhutto dynasty, and, in Dunno Y … Na Jaane Kyun, for just about the first time, a gay relationship.
Riverside Studios, W6, Wed to 29 Aug, iffl.co.uk
