Contrary to online rumors, actress Naya Rivera is not fired from the Fox dramedy "Glee." Monday reports said she and star Lea Michele were feuding, and that Rivera was on the chopping block. Her reps said, "Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from 'Glee' are absolutely untrue. End of story." In the last portion of this season, the show has been set in New York, following several characters pursuing their careers and possible Broadway dreams there. The program is set to return next fall for a sixth and final season. Hollywood Reporter. -Break- British actor Bob Hoskins passes away Tuesday from pneumonia at age 71. He was an Oscar nominee for the 1987 "Mona Lisa," but might be best known for his role in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." British acting legend Bob Hoskins has died of pneumonia at the age of 71. Hoskins' agent confirmed to the BBC that he died on Tuesday in hospital, surrounded by family.
With over a hundred credits to his name across film and television, Hoskins announced his retirement from acting in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. His final films were British comedy "Outside Bet" and big-budget fantasy feature "Snow White and the Huntsmen".
Hoskins will be remembered far more though for his memorable turns in films such as "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," "The Long Good Friday," "Mona Lisa," "The Honorary Consul," "Brazil," "Hook," "Nixon," "The Cotton Club," "Twenty Four Seven," "Super Mario Bros.," "Last Orders," "Mermaids," "Mrs. Henderson Presents," "Unleashed," "Hollywoodland," "Doomsday," "Enemy at the Gates," "The Wall" and TV productions like "Pennies from Heaven," "On the Move," "The Lost World" and "The Street".

In the category of news I didn't enjoy waking up to read, actor Bob Hoskins died this morning after battling pneumonia, following his announcement two years ago that he would be retiring from acting due to being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Hoskins is not exactly a name everyone will immediately recognize, but as an actor he touched more than one generation beginning with his first big break in 1978 with the mini-series "Pennies From Heaven", to The Long Good Friday in 1980, then there was Terry Gilliam's Brazil in 1985 and Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988. The '90s saw him star as Smee in Steven Spielberg's Hook, one of the titular brothers in the ill-fated Super Mario Bros., J. Edgar Hoover in Oliver Stone's Nixon and most recently, in his final feature film role, he played the dwarf Muir in Snow White and the Huntsman. His most lauded performance...

Last night, Bob Hoskins died from pneumonia. Born Robert William Hoskins Jr. in 1942 to a nursery-school teacher and a truck driver in West Suffolk, England, Hoskins went on to a varied, wonderful, 40-plus-year acting career. Starting in 1969, Hoskins didn't break through until his performances in the 1978 BBC musical drama Pennies From Heaven and the 1980 British gangster movie The Long Good Friday. His career included notable roles in Brazil, Mona Lisa (for which he won a BAFTA and a Golden Globe, and was nominated for an Oscar), Mermaids, Super Mario Bros, Hook, and, of course, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. On his ability to consistently find work, Hoskins once told an interviewer, "Most dictators were short, fat, middle-aged, and hairless. Besides Danny DeVito, there's only me to play them.”2012's Snow White and the Huntsman was Hoskins's last film before he retired after being diagnosed with Parkinson's. Through it...

Two years ago, Bob Hoskins made the announcement that due to a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease, he would be retiring from acting. It gave us a chance to reflect on his 5 Best Performances, and those will certainly be treasured ever more, with Hoskins sadly passing away today at the age of 71, after battling pneumonia. Hoskins was probably not the most obvious face for the stage or screen, but that was also what made him a distinctive and well-regarded actor. Fueled by passion for the profession, he started with small roles in the theatre and on television, and finally got a break in the 1978 mini-series "Pennies From Heaven," kicking open the door to some of his most iconic roles. The 1980s saw Hoskins establish himself as one of the finest of his generation thanks to terrific turns in John Mackenzie's "The Long Good Friday," Neil Jordan's "Mona Lisa" (for...

Bob Hoskins in The Long Good Friday
The much loved actor Bob Hoskins has died at the age of 71, according to his agent. Hoskins, though sometimes typecast as a cheeky Cockney chappie, was an actor whose talent shone through in the great diversity of roles he played, from Who Framed Roger Rabbit's hapless detective to the taxi driver out of his depth in Mona Lisa and the sinister, obsessive catering manager in Felicia's Journey. Despite failing health, he recently appeared in Snow White And The Huntsman.
The actor's career path was an unusual one. Coming from a working class background and leaving school with only one O-level, he worked as a window cleaner and got into theatre by accident after being mistaken for a professional actor. He was immediately acclaimed for his remarkable natural talent.
Hoskins also did some notable work on television, appearing in an acclaimed production of...

Singer, dancer and theatrical agent who represented Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton
Bernard Hunter, who has died aged 92, was a precocious young performer, a popular singer and dancer, and, later, a theatre agent who represented many stars in Britain and the Us, including Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and Olivia de Havilland. He continued to represent clients into his late 80s. Hunter's approachable good looks and air of a casual boulevardier seemed to attract consistent good luck.
Born in London, Hunter described his childhood in Islington as full of "maniacal happiness". Asked what his father did, he was apt to quip affectionately: "As little as possible." His father was in fact devoted to horses and the racetrack. Through gambling, he lost the money that was supposed to be for his son's education. However, at 16, Hunter won a singing competition at a local cinema. The prize was an appearance in a week's variety at the Winter Gardens,...

Stalwart of the TV police series Juliet Bravo
Noel Collins, who has died of cancer aged 74, was a linchpin of the police series Juliet Bravo throughout its entire six-series run. As Sergeant George Parrish, he was familiar for his "Yes, ma'am" response to consecutive uniformed inspectors Jean Darblay (Stephanie Turner) and Kate Longton (Anna Carteret). Parrish and his male colleagues were seen adjusting to working with a female boss in the BBC programme, which was launched a decade before the more hard-edged Prime Suspect – although four months after ITV's The Gentle Touch, which starred Jill Gascoine as a detective inspector.
The pace of life was slow in Juliet Bravo, whose title came from a police call-sign. The series (1980-85), set in the fictional Lancashire town of Hartley and described by one television critic as "Dixon in skirts", was also notable for being the flipside to its creator Ian Kennedy-Martin's previous,...

In 1980, British screenwriter Dennis Potter was coming off two major successes: the 1978 miniseries Pennies From Heaven, about a depressed sheet-music salesman who escapes his miserable life by disappearing into the songs he sells, and the 1979 TV movie Blue Remembered Hills, in which a cast of adults enacts the idle (and sometimes cruel) playtime of a group of children. Awash in accolades, Potter struck a deal to pen six teleplays for London Weekend Television, but the plan petered out after the first three, which are now available as the DVD set Dennis Potter: 3 To Remember. While the ...
