Vladimir Vysotsky composed the ballads for the film that were cut out by censorship. Some of the ballads were later used for the Soviet film "Ballad of the good knight Ivanhoe", where Boris Khmelnitsky also played the role of Robin Hood.
Partially based on Mikhail Gerschenson's book "Robin Hood", written in Russian, which in turn was based on early ballads about Robin Hood. Specifically, the song that Robin and friar Tuck sing together is taken from Gerschenson's book.
