The Heimlich maneuver, or abdominal thrusts, a method of clearing an airway obstruction, was not widely known or taught at the time of this film. Dr. Heimlich first published papers on the technique in medical journals in 1974 and 1975. It wasn't until 1976 that the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association began to include it in their first aid classes and literature.
This was a UK-Canada co-production.
The original unit list (8.11.76) has the film's working title as 'Full Circle'.
The instant camera Julia uses is a Polaroid SX-70. It was introduced in 1972 and sold for $180 ($1,280 in 2022), with ten-picture film packs that included the battery for $6.90 ($49 in 2022). Although very expensive, Polaroid sold 700,000 units in less than two years.
