Farewell to Manzanar: Classic TV movie available on DVD Farewell to Manzanar, the story of a Japanese American family incarcerated alongside thousands of others in "internment camps" (aka concentration camps) during World War II, was made at a time when the American networks dared tackling difficult themes in prime time. This year's MTV Movie Awards delivered one of the most awesome surprises for nerds everywhere, and I'm not talking about K-stew having a solo make out party. I'm talking about new "Dark Knight Rises" footage!
The promo revealed at the awards gave us a few new snippets of info, further confirming Batman and Catwoman's dynamic duo-ness, and hyping up Bane all the more; but what I took away from the trailer was the siege upon Gotham. From a pile of Gcpd cars 20 feet high, to a band of rebels flooding the streets led by Bane, and of course we can't forget all of the bridges being destroyed in one fell swoop, never have things looked so grim for Wayne's hometown.

Most people don.t know, or at least know very little, about the Pow camps that the United States
maintained during World War II. Numbering in the hundreds, in nearly every state of the Union, these
camps at their peak housed almost half a million German and Japanese prisoners. Films based on these
camps have been few (Summer Of My German Soldier, Farewell To Manzanar, Come See The
Paradise) and mostly grim reminders of a dark period in American history. Fort McCoy, a new movie
co-directed by Michael Worth and writer/star Kate Connor, tells a fact-based story set against the
backdrop of the Army base of the title, of one summer in the life of an American family, circa 1944.
The Stirns move to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin when the father, Frank (Eric Stoltz), takes a position as a
barber for the Army base. With his wife Ruby (Connor), sister-in-law Anna,...
