Ship of the Damned opens with a brief prologue set on board a pirate ship in 1622. As the ship sails through a storm, the crew prepare for dinner. Which for them means rather tamely hacking a bound woman to death and eating her raw flesh. In the present, Elena has her martial arts training interrupted by a phone call from her ex, Michael. He hasn’t taken the breakup well and keeps finding reasons to call her, but this time it’s legit, even if it doesn’t sound like it.
The Coast Guard have found what appears to be a seventeenth-century sailing ship drifting off the coast and towed it into port. Since she’s an expert in such things, he’d like her to come down and be part of the investigation.

Spanish horror superstar Paul Naschy has always been on my radar, yet for whatever reason, I’ve never taken the shot. (And sunk the ship? Metaphors are the worst.) So it is with great shame that I’ve spent far too long ignoring this international treasure as my inaugural Naschy, Javier Aguirre’s Hunchback of the Morgue (1973), is a cheeky Frankenstein riff that offers up its own twisted charms.
Released in its native Spain in July, it hit stateside in September of ’75 when Cinemation Industries (owned and run by Jerry Gross, legendary promoter. See: I Drink Your Blood. No, really, see it) added it to double and triple bills across the land. It…didn’t do very well, and that’s not a big surprise; it’s certainly not your traditional monster movie, with a plot that veers between soapy operatics, laboratory hijinks, and all tied together by Naschy’s...

June is ending on a quiet note for horror and sci-fi home entertainment releases, as we only have six titles coming our way on June 28th.
Blue Underground has shown some love to two cult classics with their Blu-ray double feature of Circus of Fear and Five Golden Dragons, and Arrow Video is resurrecting another cult classic (albeit one that is a bit more recent) with their Return of the Killer Tomatoes Special Edition Blu-ray.
Other notable titles being released this Tuesday include Alien Strain, Shark Exorcist, Forgotten Tales, and Hotel Inferno.
Alien Strain (Mti Home Video, DVD)
After his girlfriend vanishes without a trace on a camping trip, he quickly goes from witness to suspect. Now, a year later, she returns to the very spot from which she was taken, but not like she was before.

“We Are Going to Eat You!” The tagline for Italian Director Lucio Fulci’s 1979 film Zombie (originally titled Zombi 2) proves that his zombies get right to the point when it comes to finding their next meal. This is bad news for the humans on the living dead-ridden island of the film, but Cavity Colors has good news for Fulci fans: a return of their popular shirt and a new print based on the cult classic zombie movie is around the corner.
Available this Thursday, August 14th, beginning at 5pm Est, the “Maggoteye” T-shirt is Cavity Color’s tribute to 1979′s Zombie. The first 20 people to order the shirt will receive a free 5″ by 7″ “Zombie Flesh Eater” fine art print signed and numbered by artist Aaron Crawford, making this the only time the print will ever be available.

Tombs of the Blind Dead Synopsis
In 1971, director Amando de Ossorio created what horror fans worldwide consider to be Spain’s Night Of The Living Dead. In Ossorio’s nightmare vision, a legion of Knights Templar – executed horsemen whose eyes had been pecked out by crows – rise rotting from their graves, hunting only by sound in a quest for human flesh. “Horror of the Zombies” (1974)
Directed By: Amando de Ossorio
Written By: Amando de Ossorio
Starring: Maria Perschy (Lillian), Jack Taylor (Howard Tucker), Barbara Rey (Noemi), Carlos Lemos (Professor Gruber), Manuel de Blas (Sergio), Blanca Estrada (Kathy)
Oh the horror I experienced watching Horror of the Zombies though not as bad as I expected it to be. This movie is similar to other movies released around this time. The movie is commonly known under the name “Blind Dead.” It has also been released under the title “The Ghost Galleon” and in Spain under its original title “El buque maldito.” The other Blind Dead movies are seemingly better as this one has 1970s cheesiness woven into it. The other three movies in this set are “Tombs of the Blind Dead”, “Return of the Blind Dead”, and “Night of the Seagulls.” It was originally released in the...
