It's country music's biggest night and there were definitely plenty of moments to remember from the 2013 Cma Awards held at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday (November 6).
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley did an incredible job hosting the evening's big event, entertaining the audience with a number of jokes and musical skits.
In addition, Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan and Lady Antabellum were just a few of the country crooners to take the stage and show off their wonderful vocal skills.
Meanwhile, a few of the big winners tonight included George Strait taking home Entertainer of the Year and Kacey Musgraves scoring the prize for New Artist of the Year.
Taylor earned a couple early wins this morning, winning the trophy for Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year for her collaboration with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban on "Highway Don't Care."

Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, is one of the year's best, but Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck offer cheesy fun in the thriller Runner Runner. Here's a People guide to what to see and what to skip this weekend. See This:GravityDon't ever believe the commonly floated lie that there are no good movies for adults anymore. There are plenty. Right now, in fact, you can go out and see Rush, Enough Said, Don Jon, Prisoners, Blue Caprice, The World's End and a handful of great films lingering from the summer. It was a dud weekend at Australian cinemas as distributors launched a bunch of films which failed to connect with audiences, mainstream or art house.
The casualties included an action comedy, a biopic, two thrillers and a horror movie, despite the presence of such stars as Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren, Ashton Kutcher, Geoffrey Rush and Nicole Kidman.
The best of the newbies was Red 2, the sequel to the 2010 caper about a group of retired CIA spies, which debuted in top spot with $1.45 million. That.s a mediocre figure considering the cast led by Willis, Mirren, John Malkovich, Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Pro rata, the Australian opening is below the $US18 million debut in the Us, where the film has racked up $52 million.
Now You See Me held stoutly in its fourth outing, taking $1.3 million, down 31%, bringing its tally to $12.7 million.

Los Angeles — There's a reason Kelly Clarkson has performed duets with country superstars like Reba McEntire, Jason Aldean and Vince Gill but never one of her Top 40 colleagues in the 10 years since she became the first "American Idol". They've turned her down – eight times.
"I have, like, 5,000 duets in country music," Clarkson says, flashing a smile. "I don't have one in pop. That's legitimately because everyone turns me down. I'm not even kidding. I've asked sooo many artists to sing with me. Everyone legitimately turns me down! The only one that hasn't was Chris Daughtry."
The sugary sweet pop star who's called Nashville, Tenn., home for the past six years isn't naming names (and much to the dismay of fans, her collaborations with fellow "Idol" alum Daughtry were never released.) While she hasn't exactly been able to hook up with the perfect pop ally, Clarkson has found a partner outside the recording studio.

Bradley Cooper enjoyed the last days of his reign as People's Sexiest Man Alive last night on the red carpet at the NYC premiere of Silver Linings Playbook. The magazine announces their 2012 pick tomorrow! Yesterday, Bradley was in the company of costars Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker, and Julia Stiles. We spoke with Bradley about the joys of shooting the picture in his hometown, Philadelphia. He said, "This was a good chance to shoot Philly for Philly . . . the neighborhood, the people. It felt very close to home. My uncles were there. My uncle read [Robert De Niro's] lines for [Robert] to get the accent. Jacki Weaver hung out with my mom. It was kind of a family affair." Absent from the film's Big Apple premiere was Bradley's leading lady Jennifer Lawrence. Jennifer was able to promote their film over the weekend, though. Kelly Clarkson and Vince Gill take a trip back to the early ‘80s with “Don’t Rush,” a duet featured on the “American Idol” champ’s “Greatest Hits- Chapter One” set coming Nov. 19. With its soft rock, adult contemporary production and Gill’s tasteful guitar lines, the song sounds like it could be on the charts right beside Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton’s “Islands in the Stream” or Air Supply’s “All Out Of Love.” There’s even a pause before the key change at the end. It's as different as "Don't You Wanna Stay," her duet with Jason Aldean, could be. [More after the jump...]...

Kelly's gone country ... again!Kelly Clarkson just dropped her new single "Don't Rush," and it's a departure from her usual pop style. The song features country superstar Vince Gill. Listen below:This is Kelly's second foray into country; she and Jason Aldean recorded the ballad "Don't You Wanna Stay." "Don't Rush" is definitely more uptempo, and even has an '80s easy listening vibe.Still, Kelly's voice shines through."Don't Rush" is one of two new singles on Kelly's "Greatest Hits -- Chapter One" album due out November 19 -- the other being "Catch My Breath." The album also features a slew of the original "American Idol" winner's songs, including "A Moment Like This," "Since U Been Gone," and "My Life Would Suck Without You."If you ask us, Kelly should also release a greatest covers album, including her renditions of Adele, Eminem, Coldplay and fellow "Idol" Carrie Underwood. We're just days away from Oscar night, and while some watchdogs have already written off this year's winners as practically predestined, we're not so sure.
Take the Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories, for example. Conventional wisdom points to a "The Fighter" sweep with Christian Bale and Melissa Leo taking home their respective awards, but are they really locked in for victory?
We're tackling that question past the jump, and asking you to join us by voting on Your pick for the Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories.
Best Supporting Actor
There's no doubt that Christian Bale is the frontrunner in this category. As MTV's Josh Horowitz puts it in the video above, the timing feels right — this role was perfect for Bale, wonderfully different from his past performances while still clinging to the signature body transformations the actor is so well known for. If he wins, it's more than well-deserved.

Having done the prediction game for years, I can tell you that there are usually a few categories that are cut-and-dry with an obvious five choices. Such is not the case this year. Each category could produce a shock and will almost definitely produce a snub. Best Director has six of the most evenly-matched choices I’ve ever seen in this game, and the man (or men) left out of that category will likely be...

The Golden Globes award noms (a.k.a the "friendly" awards) have been unveiled and The King’s Speech leads with seven nominations while The Fighter and The Social Network following close behind with six noms each. The Comedy or Musical categories remind us why the show is more of a popularity contest than anything else, but knowing that we can still have contempt for the whole thing, we'll end up half-watching anyways when it airs next month. Before you get to the film-portion only of the nominations, here are some quick cheers and jeers. Best Actress: Halle Berry squeezes into the Best Actress category snapping away a much needed mention for Another Year's Lesley Manville. Spc's early campaign for Animal Kingdom's Jacki Weaver appers to have worked. Best Actor: Younger generation Mark Wahlberg beats out vets Jeff Bridges and Robert Duvall. In fact, True Grit is not even on the scorecard.

The supporting acting races favor "The King's Speech" players Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter according to the latest batch of Oscarologists polled by Gold Derby: Tim Appelo (Hollywood Reporter), Michael Musto (Village Voice), Kevin Polowy (NextMovie), Keith Simanton (IMDb), Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood, Indie Wire) and Susan Wloszczyna (USA Today). While all of these pundits predict that Colin Firth ("The King's Speech") will reign as Best Actor, their support for Rush and Carter is less solid, leaving room for contenders like Christian Bale ("The Fighter") and Jacki Weaver ("Animal Kingdom") to eventually prevail. Yesterday, we revealed their rankings for Best Picture, Director, Actor and Actress. Also check out the views of our first batch of pundits here. And see the racetrack odds based upon those predix here. Best Supporting Actor Tim Appelo, Hol...

The full line-up and schedule for this year's Hot Docs film festival went online earlier today, and if you're a documentary fan living in the Toronto area, I think you'll be pretty pleased with the selections. This year's festival runs from April 29th to May 9th, and even if you don't plan on attending, it's still worth perusing the listings just to make a note of some of the intriguing non-fiction films to keep an eye on in the coming months. Although there don't seem to be quite as many high-profile films this year, there are still a lot of cool hidden gems buried among the various programs. I've made a short list of some of the highlights after the jump, but you should head over to the Hot Docs official site [1] to browse the full line-up for yourself. You can also see reviews of some of these films over...

Family Demons: The Ghost as Domestic Inheritance by Donna McRae
Low cinematic genres – (as Clover, Williams and Robin Wood and others) have often pointed out – often handle explosive social material that mainstream cinema is reluctant to touch. — Joan Hawkins (1)
Can you make a film about the aftermath of incest and child abuse and its effect on three generations of women in the same family? Would this film contain an inherited ghost running through the narrative that could represent repressed feelings of colonial guilt on another level? Could this film prick the conscience of a nation that might be shuddering in silence for all its past sins? Would you get funding for this film from an Australian funding agency if you didn't have a track record? Would this very serious film fill cinemas, especially Australian ones? Could you get international profile actors to star in your film? Or would Australian film actors like Gracie Otto,...
