The story of the parachutist and the plane hijacking emulates the real life events of the hijacker known as D.B Cooper who on November 24, 1971 hijacked a Northwest Orient Airlines flight from Portland, Oregon. He threatened to detonate a bomb unless he got $200,000. After receiving the money he parachuted out of the plane. Some of the bill were found but not a body.
