Sex & Nudity

  • Two Characters Kiss sometimes in the film
  • Kit is often seen shirtless
  • Young underage woman emerges from the bushes, buttoning her blouse, while her older boyfriend tucks in his T-shirt. She asks if it went the way "it was supposed to," to which he replies "yes," implying she had sex for the first time in her life. They both seem oddly apathetic about such an experience.

Violence & Gore

  • This film is very violent. Many characters are shot to death, although there is not much blood, and the plot concerns two characters who are on a killing spree.
  • A dog is shot (mostly offscreen), we see a shot of it lying on the ground with a slight view of the bloody wound, and then a man throwing a bag containing the dog into a river.
  • The two main characters burn down one of the character's houses in a large fire (we see closeups of the interior burning).
  • A man tries to shoot fish in a river.
  • A girl throws a living fish into a garden.
  • A man walks on and off of a presumably dead cow.
  • A man threatens many strangers with a gun.

Profanity

  • Some light profanity ("bastard, "bitch," "hell," etc.)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Kit smokes throughout the entire movie
  • The two main characters, one being a 15-year-old girl, both smoke on occasion.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Kit often kills without any remorse
  • Some shocking shooting scenes.
  • There is a general sense of detachment with the killings and lawless actions that may be unnerving to some.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Three hunters are shot in the woods all with visible impacts and some blood spurts; one man is shot in the back, another is shot twice in the chest, and the third is shot in the back. Most violent scene in the film.
  • The main characters father is shot twice in the stomach (bloodless), and we later see his body with a small red blotch around the wound, his body being dragged to a basement, and a close-up of his head as a fire burns around him.
  • A man is shot through the stomach (some blood), sits down as we see the contained bloody wound, later dies from his injury, and is placed into a large container.
  • A trooper exchanges gunfire with and then is shot by the main character, falls down, and, in bandages, is transported away with a helicopter.
  • Two strangers are put into a cellar, the door is locked, and the main character shoots two bullets in-between a door crack, possibly killing them.
  • There is a short high-speed car chase where one of the main characters is followed by cops, causes their car to topple, and eventually turns himself in as the cops fix their car and reproach.
