Jack Osbourne will make you want to keep your feet on the ground. Osbourne will be back on Discovery+ in September with another Night of Terror special and, in an E! News exclusive preview, it's clear that that the show is very appropriately titled. In the clip, Osbourne is seen holding binoculars and a laser pointer looking into the distance where he sees an unusual figure that he says "freaked me out." He continues, "Someone's walking over there. Who's over there?" Clearly frightened, Jack speaks to a producer behind the camera and shouts, "What is that?" The producer is rendered speechless and can only...

Writer/Director Claudio Fragasso helmed the legendarily loopy Troll 2 and, while lacking the sheer volume of Wtf moments that enlivened that film, Monster Dog still displays the elegant touch of the creator of such rarefied fare as Rats Night of Terror and Hell of the Living Dead. Alice Cooper stars as a vacationing rocker who may or may not be the victim of a lycanthropic curse. Cinematographer José García Galisteo was one of the eight original photographers of Orson Welles’ unfinished production of Don Quixote.

With the death of horror film legend Christopher Lee, the last of the legendary honor guard of horror has passed on. He was part of an elite group that created the horror genre. Lee’s passing is a reminder that it’s been a long time since we had a new horror film superstar. Is the day of the horror film specialist gone forever? Where are the big-screen boogie-men for the 21st century?
Once upon a time there were a group of actors, known as the ‘screen boogiemen’ who created the horror film/monster movie genre (starting in Universal Studios and later in Hammer Studios.) They were specialists who understood the psychology and performance style of horror cinema and became legends in the industry. The first was silent film star Lon Chaney Sr. (Phantom of the Opera, London After Midnight, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Unholy Three, the Monster,...

I have been a Blue Underground fanboy for quite a while now, as I have quite an impressive collection of their Blu-ray releases. This will be the first Blue Underground title that I have reviewed for the site, and what a title to start with. Blue Underground’s Blood Soaked Double Feature, is two Bruno Mattei films on Blu-ray for the price of one, and it’s quite an interesting pairing, I must say. The set consists of Hell of the Living Dead, following by Rats: Night of Terror. I have seen Hell of the Living Dead several times, but this marks the first time that I’ve seen Rats. If you want to follow the format given to us, you would watch Hell of the Living Dead first, but the truth of the matter is, these two films compliment each other so well that you could reverse it and...

For the last week of August, there’s a bounty of horror and sci-fi Blu-rays and DVD’s arriving, which should satisfy the cravings of just about any genre fan. Not only does The Walking Dead Season 4 finally get its release (in grand fashion of course!), but there’s also an incredible DVD collection of The Twilight Zone series from the ‘80s coming our way from Image Entertainment and Scream Factory’s brand new Blu-ray of The Legend of Hell House to look forward to as well.
And as if that wasn’t enough, there are also a handful of indie horror titles getting released including Blood Glacier, Aftermath, Zombex, The Possession of Michael King and Jersey Shore Massacre and BrinkVision is also releasing a limited edition DVD of Sonno Profondo after the Giallo-esque film found much success on the festival circuit in 2013.

Writer/director James DeMonaco seized the attention of film fans last summer with the darkly alluring premise of The Purge, earning an unpredicted $34 million domestically on its opening weekend. Logically, a sequel was born, bearing the challenge inherent to every successful film’s sequel: topping the first one. For DeMonaco, this wouldn’t be too difficult. The Purge followed only one, well-off family, locked up in their home, leaving the rest of the grisly purging world unexplored. The Purge: Anarchy takes us there – to downtown Los Angeles over the 12-hour course of an Annual Purge night. The film opens with three sets of characters whose stories intersect quickly. There’s fiscally struggling mother Eva (Carmen Ejogo) and daughter Cali (Zoë Soul); separating couple Shane (Zach Gilford) and Liz (Kiele Sanchez); and lastly, soul-cleansing, vengeful Leo (Frank Grillo). These five characters find themselves on the streets for radically different reasons, but they promptly form a desperate alliance. Leo...

We recently told Daily Dead readers that Blue Underground has been working on a Blu-ray version of Hell of the Living Dead. Packaged together with Rats: Night of Terror in a Blu-ray 2-pack, we now have the official release date and list of bonus features:
Hell Of The Living Dead: “When The Creeping Dead Devour The Living Flesh! An accident at a chemical plant unleashes a horrific virus, and an elite Swat team is sent to New Guinea to investigate. But when they arrive on the hellish island, they discover a plague of flesh-eating zombies as well as a beautiful female reporter who practices nude anthropology. Can the commandos survive this cannibal rampage, uncover a shocking government secret, and still find time for the occasional cross-dressing before the ravenous hordes of the living dead infect the entire world?

Blue Underground is putting out a double feature Blu-Ray presentation of some hilariously bad Italian horror films. Rats: Night of Terror and Bruno Mattei’s Hell of the Living Dead are gems for drinking party fodder. While some may be complaining that these films are hitting Blu-Ray when other films that are “more deserved” are still waiting in the high definition wings, I welcome this schlock into the realm. Blue Underground originally announced Hell of the Living Dead last September on their Facebook page so it isn’t too much of a surprise (except for the fact that it has taken almost a year to come out).

The long-awaited Hell of the Living Dead/Rats: Night of Terror Double Feature Blu-ray will be released on August 26, 2014

Thank you for all of your comments, and I hope I triggered some fun memories. But now it’s your turn! What are your favorite horror films from that bygone era? Do you prefer the Jason franchise, or Freddy? Any obscurities you think should be more well known? Let’s see your lists!
40. Rats:Night Of Terror
39. Visiting Hours
38. The Boogens
37. Blood Beach
36. New Year’s Evil
35. The Beast Within
34. Dolls
33. I, Madman
Director Tibor Takacs followed up his surprise hit The Gate with this sadly overlooked, well-crafted slasher, written by David Chaskin (who wrote A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddie’s Revenge). Sadly, there’s no gay subtext in this one,...

Birthday shoutouts go to Paul Wesley (above), who is 31, Edie McClurg is 62, Woody Harrelson is 52, Philip Seymour Hoffman is 46, and Daniel Radcliffe is 24.
Sexting is one thing, but … “Carlos Danger?” I’m sorry, that’s unforgivable.
Flowers in the Attic and its sequels had a profound impact on me growing up (for starters, i’ve never eaten a powdered doughnut), and now comes word that Lifetime is preparing a TV movie adaptation, starring Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn. Does anyone else remember the 80′s feature version, with Kristy Swanson and Louise Fletcher?
Ken Cuccinelli’s war on oral sex.
And here’s John Fugelsang‘s take.
The Muppets welcome the new royal baby.
The CW has released the first pic of Lindsey Gort as Samantha Jones on The Carrie Diaries. Yep … I can see it.
Below you can see Robbie Rogers talk about his … fashion line?

There are decent enough offerings from Vinterberg and Mingiu, but Michael Haneke's angel of death casts a shadow over all
Cannes officially turns weird on me on Sunday morning, post-Haneke, when Dave starts berating me for skipping our meeting. I have never met Dave and the meeting is a mystery. Come to think of it, I don't even think his name is Dave. The upshot is, I'm horribly confused.
"Hey guy, don't bail on me," barks Dave, glaring into my face and bouncing agitatedly on the balls of his feet, like a boxer awaiting the bell that starts the round. "You can't do that. We had a meeting."
I tell him that I'm sorry. What meeting, exactly? "Ok, I get that," he says, still beaming his radioactive stare. "But guy, come on, we gotta make this work." And it is at this point that I realise that this man is wearing an earpiece.
