Spoiler Alert!Spoilers for The Boys Season 4
The fourth season of The Boys had its premiere earlier this week with the first three episodes out on Amazon Prime Video. The stakes are at an all-time high with Homelander taking over Vought as CEO, Butcher separated from his team, and Hughie and Starlight dealing with their internal issues. The country is also divided.
While the new season introduced two new supes to the Seven, the most interesting one has to be Sister Sage. Branded as the smartest person in the world, Sage becomes a close aide of Homelander and takes over many operations at Vought. One shot from the third episode of the season reveals a particularly horrifying truth that might lead to Homelander’s downfall.

The Boys Season 4 has arrived, and viewers are diving further into the brokenness of being a superhero and the gore and sleaziness that comes with it. Amazon Prime Video’s hit series about the “reality” of a superhero’s life is taking another leap this season.
The show has introduced a new character to the roster who goes by the name of Firecracker. She’s unforgiving, outspoken, and pretty close to being the highlight of this season. However, this isn’t the first time the actress has captivated the attention of viewers and gamers.
Note: minor spoilers for The Boys.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of the first three episodes of Season 4 of The Boys, which dropped today on Amazon Prime Video.
“Did it occur to you, it’s harder to stage a f*cking coup with a million eyes on me?” Sage (Susan Heyward) complains to superhero kingpin Homelander (Antony Starr) in the third episode of Season 4 of The Boys.
In any other show, that would be saying the quiet part out loud, but this being the Eric Kripke steered Prime Video series, the unhinged Supes plan to take over the White House is just one of many spiked flails pounding the narrative in what we now know for sure is The Boys’ penultimate season.

The creators of The Boys must’ve really missed Stormfront enough to introduce a boiled-down version of her in the form of Firecracker. Initially, Homelander doesn’t like her, as she has the potential to steal his thunder. You know how much he hates that. Firecracker most likely comes from a humble background and spreads Vought’s propaganda through her podcast, Truthbomb with Firecracker. She also runs an alt-supe movement and calls herself a visionary filmmaker and whatnot. So it is pretty clear that Firecracker wanted to attract the attention of those sitting in Vought Tower so that she could rise up the ladder and prove her worth to her worst competitor, Starlight. Yes, from the moment Firecracker appeared on screen, she made it explicitly clear that she isn’t a fan of Starlight or her supporters, who show fake sympathy towards teens.

[This story contains spoilers from the first three episodes of season four of The Boys.]
In the great nation of the United States of America — in The Boys‘ parallel universe where satirical humans and superhero characters coincide — the most powerful “supe” in the world, Homelander, is on trial.
In season four’s three-episode opener, Homelander, played by Antony Starr, is facing 12 jurors of his peers for actually doing something a former president bragged he could do over in our real universe: commit a crime in public and get away with it. Alas, such bragging rights prove more favorable in getting a “not guilty” verdict when jurors are mere mortals who the defendant could laser to death with the blink of his eyes, or snap in two with the flick of his wrist. Of course, Homelander is found not guilty.
Season four of The Boys — as creator/showrunner Eric Kripke has explained — reflects even more of the political chaos going on in real U.

This article contains spoilers for The Boys season 4 episodes 1, 2, and 3.
Through its first three seasons, Amazon Prime Video‘s superhero satire The Boys has drifted further and further from its comic book origins. While the series continues to borrow characters from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s long-running comic, those characters often end up changing significantly in adaptation.
Season 3’s Soldier Boy was not a cowardly Captain America pastiche but a powerful super-fascist from America’s golden age. Gen V‘s Tek Knight isn’t a Tony Stark-esque metal man, but a true crime streaming host with the ability to sniff out lies. Now, in season 4, The Boys has introduced two major characters who are completely original to the show with no obvious comic analogues: Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry).

The Boys Season 4, episode 2, was largely centered around the unraveling of the titular group at the Truthcon festival. Mm and Butcher fell out because of the latter’s erratic behavior, which was a side effect of the worms crawling in his head thanks to his overuse of the Temp V. But when Mm, Kimiko, and Frenchie were overwhelmed by Splinter and Firecracker, Butcher ended up saving them. Was it enough to get him into Mm’s good books? No, and Butcher was forced to leave the team and go on his solo mission of saving Ryan from the clutches of Homelander. Talking about Homelander, he scarred Ryan for life by making him kill a guy who was just doing his job of making Ryan look cool, and then he reprimanded Ryan for not being okay with a “few broken eggs.” The third episode of The Boys Season 4 is about the rivalry between Firecracker and Annie.

With each passing day, as we watch new franchises come out of the factory that’s called the mainstream entertainment industry, there’s one phrase penned by Jonathan Nolan that continues to grow in relevance: “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” When The Boys started its journey, the superhero subgenre was at its peak, with each spandex-donning movie hitting a billion dollars like it was no big deal. So, seeing a show dedicated to satirizing the ridiculousness of it all was refreshing and exhilarating. Since Eric Kripke’s show commented on the Trump era of politics, it resonated with a lot of people and triggered the Maga-hat-wearing mob. Now, the show is in its fourth season. The superhero subgenre has witnessed a change. The USA has lived through the Biden presidency. But it seems like The Boys has not only...

The Boys S4: Our Best Guesses on Sister Sage and Firecracker's Powers - Main Image
One unique aspect of The Boys is the clever invention of powers each hero possesses after consuming Compound V. This time, fans are curious about what Sister Sage and Firecracker's powers may be in The Boys season 4. Any guesses? We have our own.
Since Sister Sage and Firecracker are two new Supes whose identities were not originally part of The Boys' comic book series, here are our best guesses on what their superpowers could be.

You have to hand it to “The Boys.” Production on Season 4 of the Amazon action satire wrapped over a year ago, with its release delayed by subsequent strikes in the entertainment industry. The premiere still manages to be almost uncannily well-timed, with characters waiting on a verdict from the breathlessly publicized Manhattan trial of a polarizing political figure. Granted, the figure in question is Homelander (Antony Starr), the psychopathic Captain America type who serves as the series’ archvillain, not a certain former — and possibly future — president. But the trial’s subject is a clear allusion to an infamous Trumpism. When Homelander eye-lasered a protester for throwing a plastic bottle at his son, he essentially shot somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue. And in the ever-cynical world of “The Boys,” Homelander loses about as much support for it as his real-life inspiration.

This The Boys season 4 review was based on all eight episodes and contains no spoilers.
Since it first premiered in the summer of 2019, Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has been nothing short of a cultural necessity. Somebody needed to rise up and poke fun at the McU-ification of superheroes and all the subsequent corporate bootlicking it encouraged. And no, it couldn’t only be Marvel’s in-house Greek chorus, Deadpool.
This (increasingly loose) TV adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic series wasn’t just up to the task, it was perfect for it. The Boys has turned in three great seasons of satire on the superhero industrial complex that at times feels like a 1:1 comparison to the real world, albeit with some names changed, some superpowers added, and some penises exploded. It’s only fitting then that, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins to lag as a culturally dominant force,...

Antony Starr’s Homelander has always been a favorite antagonist of fans despite him being an egoistical sadistic narcissist prone to the most heinous crimes one can do. Yet not only is he a fantastic villain, but he is also incredibly well-developed, equally complex and entertaining, a sociopath yet the perfect villain for a series as deranged as Eric Kripke’s The Boys.

Prime Video’s first teaser trailer for The Boys season four shows a world on the verge of war. “All democracies fail because people are f****** stupid,” says a voice-over, adding, “But if you crush the masses, who builds your monuments?”
The solution is to allow people to tear the world apart themselves, and then the supes can swoop in and save it.
The trailer teases some wild action scenes (as expected from this twisted series) and ends with the introduction of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character.
Season four, premiering in 2024, stars Antony Starr as Homelander, Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, and Jack Quaid as Hughie. Erin Moriarty is Starlight, Chace Crawford is The Deep, Jessie T. Usher is A-Train, Laz Alonso is Mother’s Milk, Tomer Capon is Frenchie, and Karen Fukuhara plays Kimiko. Colby Minifie is Ashley Barrett, Claudia Doumit plays Victoria Neuman, and Cameron Crovetti is Ryan.

Jasmin Mozaffari’s “Firecrackers” and Crystal Moselle’s “Skate Kitchen,” a pair of bold and timely North American features, won best film and best debut at the 29th edition of the Stockholm Film Festival, whose awards were almost entirely scooped by female talents.
“Firecrackers,” which world premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, marks the feature debut of Canadian helmer Mozaffari. The drama follows two best friends who plot a revenge against an abusing ex who violated one of them. But things spin out of control beyond a point of no return.
The festival praised “Firecrackers” for “its originality in portraying the love between two friends, in its urge for freedom, autonomy, loyalty in a violent world, and bringing us to situations in a way that we have never seen before.”
It’s “a perfectly directed film where all elements come together in a unique universe of its own,” the festival added.

Shout Factory has made it their mission to release all kinds of Roger Corman goodness recently. They put together 2, 3 and even 4 movie sets with some of Corman’s lost movies. Jillian Kesner makes it hurt in Firecracker.
The Lethal Ladies Collection honors the strongest and sexiest celluloid heroines who kicked ass in the 1970s. If you saw any of these movies back then, it was probably in a drive-in or at a broken down theater on the outskirts of town…
The DVD set is a triple feature of action-crime-thriller grindhouse film favorites from Shout! Factory’s “Roger Corman Cult Classics” imprint.
The titles included in the set, all three R-rated and offering sizable portions of violence and nudity, are:

While Roger Corman, as either a director or producer, can deliver entertaining movies on a stunningly low budget, the law of averages demands that he comes out with a few clunkers. Even the best directors in Hollywood make a stinker now and then, so why shouldn't we expect the same from the King of the B's? And if you're wondering about the number of turkeys Corman has under his belt, think about his massive film catalog (close to 400 producing credits alone). And the budget from most of those films wouldn't cover the weekly catering cost on a major studio production.
Besides, even a Corman turkey can have moments of fun. Up from the Depths and Demon in Paradise, the latest double feature in the Corman Cult Classic series, aren't near as good as some of the earlier Shout! Factory releases, but you won't clawing your eyes out, either.
