Jack Wild did not like the songs for the film, especially "If I Could." He said he had a sore throat on the day he recorded it. He referred to Martha Raye as "a right old cow."
Sid Krofft wanted Bette Davis to play Boss Witch. He called and asked her if she'd consider taking the part. Davis was so offended that she was being asked to portray a witch that she hung up on him.
Cass Elliot literally lived next door to Sid Krofft and took her role in the film as a favor to him.
