Kevin O’Neal, the younger brother of actor Ryan O’Neal who for a time built a steady, if less widely known, performing career of his own died in his sleep of natural causes in Thousand Oaks, California, on Saturday, Jan. 28. He was 77.
His death was announced by his nephew Patrick O’Neal, Ryan O’Neal’s son.
“Kevin had a wicked sense of humor, just like his older brother, and we have his stories to keep him in our hearts forever,” Patrick O’Neal wrote on Instagram, adding, “When Kevin walked into a room you heard him before you saw him. That energy and personality is an old O’Neal trademark. Heaven better be ready for him!”
Kevin O’Neal began his television career in the early 1960s, making guest appearances on such series as The Danny Thomas Show, The Donna Reed Show, The Twilight Zone, My Tree Son and Wagon Train.

Mac Davis had a number of his songs recorded by Elvis Presley, most famously the 1969 tale of inner-city poverty “In the Ghetto.” The vivid depiction of social inequality was a Top 3 hit for Elvis and became as synonymous with the latter part of his career as “Suspicious Minds.” But for all its importance to Presley’s Seventies-era catalog, it’s not the best Davis composition that Elvis put to tape.
That’d be “Memories,” a gorgeously mournful ballad about the passing of time and the fleeting nature of our days.

Nicole David is why Kevin Macdonald made “Whitney.” As an agent at William Morris, David represented Whitney Houston for almost 30 years, even before her first album came out in 1985 at age 22. She stood by her through 200 million album sales worldwide, movie stardom, husband Bobby Brown, and struggles with drugs, right up to her death at age 48 in 2012 from a lethal combination of drugs and alcohol. Even so, for David Houston remained a mystery.
“I always had a feeling there was something more, a reason why,” David said. “No matter what I tried and other people tried, nothing seemed to work. I just couldn’t understand it for years; it made me so angry at everybody. Why didn’t this girl want to get better? It wasn’t as simple as she liked being stoned. That’s never the issue.”
In 2012, veteran “Oprah” producer Lisa Erspamer approached David about doing a documentary on the singer.

Scotty McCreery is engaged!
The country singer popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Gabi Dugal, on Tuesday in the mountains of North Carolina.
Here’s how it went down: McCreery, 23, invited Dugal to go on a hike. When they reached the top of a mountain, McCreery dropped to one knee and asked Dugal to marry him. He gave her a ring that he helped design specifically for her. (Spoiler alert: she said yes.)
This engagement was a long time coming. The couple met in kindergarten while growing up in Garner, North Carolina. When they were young, Dugal used to write “Mrs.

In 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in Brown v. Board of Education which overturned Jim Crow racial segregation in the public schools. That mattered little in most of the country when white privilege was normalized, and white supremacy went unchallenged. Black people had no real say. Whites controlled most everything, as they still do to a great extent.
Since the 1950s black and brown people have been demanding their rights and as expected in a nation of so many different viewpoints there has been push back.
This time a distinction between the past is evident. It appears the soon to be the leader of the free world Donald Trump is now leading any pushback on racial resolutions. His actions over time and in particular the last few years support this.
Some of the Trump race record includes:

No, Scotty McCreery won't be playing yet another suitor for Rachel Bilson's Zoe Hart when he hits up "Hart of Dixie" in an April 23 episode. Instead, the "American Idol" winner will play himself, performing his hit "The Trouble With Girls" during a scene that heavily features Zoe and George (Scott Porter).

American Idol alums Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina suffered performance malfunctions at two widely-watched events on Thanksgiving. McCreery, the most recent winner of Fox's singing competition, was caught lip-syncing at Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade when the vocals to "The Trouble With Girls" began several seconds before he put the microphone near his mouth. NBC cut away from a close-up of the singer, who recovered enough to finish the song in time with the recorded music. Even though lip syncing has become pretty widely accepted, especially on live broadcasts, the 18-year-old American Idol winner missed his cue during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and his voice started playing before he even had the mic to his mouth. After the Mc announced his song, Scotty smiled and in that brief moment, his single, "The Trouble With Girls," started playing...complete with his voice. Unfortunately, he hadn't even started singing yet. Yikes! Watch the clip and tell us what you think about Scotty's mishap. We feel so bad for him! [polldaddy poll=5699977]...

"American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery committed a lip synching foul during Thursday's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The cherubic singer missed his cue to begin crooning his hit single "The Trouble With Girls" during the festivities. That left McCreery miming vocal work after the song had started to play over the loudspeakers. Perhaps the reigning "Idol" victor isn't cut out for this whole live performing thing. During this year's World Series, McCreery had to restart the National Anthem after his microphone malfunctioned. He then proceeded to flub the lyrics. Thank goodness there were cameras on...

Season 10 “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery is already showing signs of having a very healthy career at country radio. His first single, “I Love You This Big,” was a top 15 radio hit, and peppy, lightweight “The Trouble With Girls” is shaping up as a nice follow-up. If you’re fans of those two songs, you’ll love his full debut, “Clear As Day,” out Oct. 4. McCreery gathered tunes from many of Nashville’s finest songwriters here. While every tune is well crafted, like the first two singles, they are so generic in their embrace of a small town America and country...

Scotty McCreery has girl trouble. On his new single, “The Trouble With Girls,” he laments that “they smile that smile and they bat those eyes/they steal with hello/they kill you with goodbye...the trouble with girls is nobody loves trouble as much as me.” Yeah, it’s a little hard to imagine the squeaky clean teen growing up, but he’s more befuddled and bewitched by the fairer sex than posing as a lady killer. [More after the jump...] The country ballad is the second single from the “American Idol” winner from his Mercury/19/Interscope debut, “Clear As Day,” out Oct. 4. The song is...
