Rajesh Khanna appeared unshaven because he had to be unshaven for his role in Ittefaq (1969) and was filming both movies simultaneously.
One of the earlier movies of Rajesh Khanna as a hero. The movie was in the family drama format and did not center entirely around him. Mumtaz who had until then played the heroine in B grade movies or the second lead in A grade movies was playing the heroine in a A grade movie for the first time. Her role was limited to looking glamorous and singing songs. It was also one of the earlier movies of Bindu who played an unabashedly wicked daughter-in-law and had the most powerful role. It even got her a nomination at the Filmfare awards.
After the character of Bindu was appreciated filmmakers would specially add character of vamp for her in their films.
Chup Gaye Nazare was sampled in the song Hide &Seek by Aywy from the album Kismet Instrumentals .
Mumtaz who earlier played second fiddle roles got a turning point in this film, though here too she had a second fiddle role but most of hit songs were picturised on her.
