Ryan Phillippe, the star of the new film Prey, reflected on his journey as an actor that started when he played the first gay teenager on TV in his exclusive uInterview.
Phillippe explained that his fascination with acting started when he skipped church one day as a teenager after he faked an illness. “Cool Hand Luke was playing and watching a guy who was the epitome of masculinity, and so good looking, so charismatic, and then watching the emotional beats he plays in that movie,” Phillippe told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “I just was fascinated by the emotion, and how he was able to make that so authentic. And that really started my exploration into what acting was.”
Phillippe continued that his path into the business was not easy, but his parents supported his interest and bought him books about the art. “I started reading about what acting actually was,...

If there's one actress whose name is synonymous with the "Halloween" franchise, created by director John Carpenter in 1978, it's Jamie Lee Curtis. If there's another, it's Danielle Harris. Curtis holds the record for most "Halloween" movie appearances with six film, not counting archival footage, and the late Donald Pleasance is in five (though his likeness was used in the new "Halloween" trilogy). Harris, however, appearing in four "Halloween" movies, is the only actress to play two different characters in the franchise, and she did so by never taking no for an answer. When conditions were wrong, she walked, and when arbitrary directorial edicts threatened to block her, she acted her way back in with the best audition.
Harris was a young child when she first encountered Michael Myers. What happened to that little girl? She grew up, but she never stopped working. These days, she's a mother in real life,...

CBS is developing a soap opera about a wealthy family that could become the first daytime TV drama with a predominately Black cast in decades.
The project is titled The Gates, and it follows the lives of a wealthy Black family living in a posh, gated community.
The show will be produced by a CBS Studios/NAACP production venture in partnership with P&g Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. The Gates will be written by Emmy-winning daytime veteran Michele Val Jean (The Bold & the Beautiful), who will also serve as showrunner. Val Jean has also written more than 2,000 episodes of daytime TV.
The last Black daytime soap was NBC’s short-lived Generations, which launched in 1989 as a half-hour drama and was reportedly the first U.S. soap to center around a Black family from its inception. Also, Fox’s 2015 hit drama Empire was regarded by some as a soap opera,...

General Hospital has lost its way, and adding cast members with little to no significance to the current cast has been par for the course.
The cast is so bloated, yet many longtime fan favorites have been on the back burner for so long that what was simmering is probably stuck to the pot.
Over the years, the show has morphed from the hospital drama to being more focused on the mob scene, run by none other than Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Whether viewers want to admit it or not, he has become the face of the show. He is on nearly every day and often is the center of focus for several big storylines on the daytime drama.
However, some of us remember the days of great storylines that happened at the hospital. The nursing staff has dwindled, and the doctors are few and far between these days.

The Daytime Emmys announced their call for awards entries on Thursday, February 1. But that’s not all. They also revealed a number of changes to this year’s event, including the elimination of the category of Best Younger Performer in a Drama Series, ending a decades-long tradition of honoring the best up-and-coming talent in the medium. Younger performers will now be slotted into lead, supporting or guest categories instead.
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) president Adam Sharp said in an official statement, “Programming is always changing, and NATAS continues to adapt its competition rules to reflect these shifts in the television landscape. We’re looking forward to gathering again at the 51st Daytime Emmys to celebrate all the nominees and the entertaining and enlightening programs they create.”

General Hospital is getting a revamp behind the scenes.
It’s been a decade of the same on the ABC soap, with only a few minor changes to the writing and producing team.
Small increments didn’t seem to work for some of the long-time viewers, who have complained about the writing for some of the legacy characters and the rewriting of history to fit the narratives of their current favorites.
Soap Opera Digest broke the news about the head co-writers, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, being out at General Hospital.
The duo has worked together since 2019, but Chris has been in a co-writing position since 2017. He worked with Shelly Altman after her partner, Jean Passanante, retired. Dan joined Chris in 2019 when Shelly retired.
