The film was shot mostly on weekends.
According to Diane McBain (who played Rita), when filming began in September, 1968, Goldie Hawn was dating her future husband, director Gus Trikonis, Although Hawn had gained popularity early that same year on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1967), she was not yet a recognised name, she sought the role of Rita, which Ms Polan got, as she was married to Ross Hagen, who aside from being the film's male lead, was also the film's producer.
