You must have seen those spoof videos of Ghost Rider where the animation is poor and the skull is weird. Yeah, that could have been a reality for Nicolas Cage in his 2007 film Ghost Rider.

CGI was a big deal back then as everyone wanted more realism in the trending superhero genre. From Superman to the birth of the MCU, CGI improved drastically over the years but for Ghost Rider and Nic Cage, it was tougher than they originally expected!

After making The Third Saturday in October Part V, the fifth entry in a non-existent series, what do you do for a follow-up? If you’re writer/director Jay Burleson you make The Third Saturday in October and give your faux franchise a starting point.
After a text crawl telling us what we’re about to see is based on a true story we launch into the story of serial killer Jakkariah “Jack” Harding who we see meeting his fate in the electric chair. Witnessing his execution are Ricky Dean Logan and Vicki Newton both of whom lost loved ones to Harding.
Unfortunately when they go to the cemetery to see him put six feet under they see something much worse.

The Third Saturday in October was actually conceived before the slasher boom of the 1980s but wasn’t filmed until after the success of Halloween and Friday the 13th. Its odd perspective on the genre soon made it a cult film. But, as the title card tells us, this isn’t that film. This is The Third Saturday in October Part V, the fourth sequel from 1994.
A narrator takes us through a recap of the previous instalments concerning Jakkariah “Jack” Harding a serial killer who survived the electric chair and has terrified the town of Hackleburg Alabama every fall since his attacks timed to coincide with the big game between Alabama-Mobile Seahawks and the Tennessee A&m Commonwealth. Al Adamson: The Masterpiece Collection
Blu ray
Severin Films
1965 – 1989 / 2841 min.
Starring Russ Tamblyn, Regina Carrol, Lon Chaney
Cinematography by Gary Graver, Vilmos Zsigmond, László Kovács
Directed by Al Adamson, David Gregory
The titles grab you by the collar like a desperate carny barker – Psycho A Go-Go, Blood of Ghastly Horror, Satan’s Sadists – then something for the raincoat crowd – Girls For Rent, Nurses For Sale, The Naughty Stewardesses. The rant turns political, incendiary: Black Heat, Mean Mother, Black Samurai. His last gasp – Cinderella 2000, Nurse Sherri, The Happy Hobo. The Happy Hobo?
Al Adamson: The Masterpiece Collection is an alarming new release from Severin Films presenting 32 of the director’s misbegotten “masterpieces” in beautifully restored transfers with enough added attractions to choke a horse. It’s the story of one man’s twenty year run in exploitation cinema that may be too exhausting for the casual viewer to contemplate. But...

For a group of con men and a descendant of Van Helsing, robbing Dracula's castle could be the score they need to be set for life, but things get complicated when vampires stand in their way of a big payday in Stephan Franck's graphic novel series Silver. With Dark Planet Comics launching a Kickstarter campaign for Silver Volume 3, we had the chance to catch up with Franck for our latest Q&A feature to discuss the influences of Bram Stoker's Dracula on his work, what readers can expect to see in Volume 3, and much more.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us today, Stephan. When and how did you first come up with the idea for Silver?
Stephan Franck: It’s my pleasure, thank you for having me. Two of my greatest fascinations in story have always been vampires and conmen, and this notion...

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty stoked about Netflix's upcoming animated series Castlevania. The project is being developed by Adi Shankar (Dredd) and Fred Seibert (Fairly OddParents, Adventure Time), and we know it's going to be a dark, hardcore, and violent take on the classic video game franchise.
Thanks to Shankar, we have official poster art to share with you that was released for the series. It offers us our first look at Dracula's castle, and if you're a fan of the game it should definitely get you excited. I love the design!
Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by...

One of my favorite things as a kid was whenever different television series would do holiday-themed episodes, especially when it came time to celebrate Halloween in October. A lot of great shows over the years have done an great job of embracing our favorite holiday, and if you’re feeling a bit nostalgic, here’s a collection of Halloween-themed TV specials currently available on Netflix Instant that should help get you guys ready for All Hallows’ Eve.
One Note: There are a handful of entries here that aren’t necessarily Halloween episodes, but they are still shows I love revisiting every October as they perfectly embody the spirit of the season.
American Dad (Season 6, Episode 3)
Best Little Horror House in Langley Falls: Stan's plan to out-do the neighbor's fancy haunted house backfires when Roger releases the serial killers he was borrowing from the CIA. Meanwhile, Steve faces Toshi's revenge when...

Shot in and around Cork City by a whole host of local talent, both in front of and behind the camera, sees classic monsters, from The Invisible Man to Frankenstein, travel to Dracula's castle for a massive Christmas celebration, but when two killers arrive on the door step, things spiral out of control. Judging from the trailer below, there is a fun, old school vibe oozing from the movie, which looks quite impressive despite being made on a low budget. And that fun vibe crosses over to the wonderfully designed poster, which captures the B-movie sensibilities of the project perfectly. For those in Cork intrigued to see what El Diablo Productions have put together, Christmas at Draculas will be seeing the light of day (excuse the pun) for a special charity screening at Ucc (where much of the film was shot) in aid of St. Vincent De Paul in March.

Monster Squad is a 1980s masterpiece. I don't know any kid from the 80s that didn't grow up loving the hell out of this movie. Over the years it's gained quite a big cult following. The movie was directed by Fred Dekker, who also co-wrote the script with Iron Man 3 director Shane Black. It was so funny watching this movie when I was older because I had no idea how dark and dirty it was when I was a kid. Here are 14 fun facts about the movie that you may or may not know.
According to Dekker, Black's first draft of the screenplay was so huge that the opening of the film featured Van Helsing accompanied by zeppelin's and hundreds of men on horseback storming Dracula's castle. Dekker stated that this sequence would have cost more than the final budget of the film. There was an idea for a sequel called Monster Squad vs.

With Nosferatu the Vampyre (aka Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht), Werner Herzog's allegiance to F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent feature Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens makes it even more intriguing than it would be were it wholly original. Murnau's film is striking for its imagery to the point it owns what may be the most iconic horror villain of all-time, even for those that have never seen the movie, as Max Schreck's spindly figure rises from the shadows as Graf Orlok (a variation on Bram Stoker's "Dracula"). Murnau's Nosferatu, however, can be a bit of a challenge to get through, even at 94 minutes, while Herzog's adaptation brings new life to the story, with frequent nods to the original and more than enough to make it all his own. Herzog, of course, was able to make his film without worry over the rights to Stoker's novel as it had entered...

One of the most famous residences in the world (and literature) is potentially for sale, if the price is right.

After some legal back and forth, it was returned to the family in 2006 and is now in the possession of Queen Marie’s grandchildren.

In the realm of dark musical delights, 2013 has been quite a historic year: legends in their respective genres returned and/or reunited, while others marked the swan songs of their careers; iconic artists turned out some of their finest work, while some innovative up-and-comers set loose fresh and evil earworms on our collective brains. Honestly, it was damn near impossible for me to narrow the list down to just thirteen entries – a mere Top 10 was out of the question – and cutting names felt like chopping off my own extremities (which I'll admit would be an impressive journalistic statement, but could lead to unpleasant side effects I'd rather not deal with). Still, I found a way to make it work. Well... okay, I cheated, actually. More on that later. But for now, let's cycle back through 2013 – definitely a banner year for scary sounds! "The Bling Ring"
What's It About? Based on the real-life Bling Ring crew, Sofia Coppola's film tells the story of the Los Angeles teens whose claim to infamy was robbing the homes of celebrities. The teens who used the internet to track the whereabouts of rich celebs are portrayed by Emma Watson, Katie Chang, Taissa Farmiga, Israel Broussard, and Claire Julien.
Watch: Go behind-the-scenes with Taissa Farmiga (Video)
Why We're In: Coppola's approach to the tabloid-heavy story is one of the most compelling aspects of "The Bling Ring"," as she neither praises the characters, criticizes, or satirizes them. We get to watch the teens from an honest perspective and arrive at our own deduction of how technology and youth obsession with fame impact contemporary culture. "The Bling Ring" was also one of Moviefone's Best Movies of 2013 (So Far).

The biggest problem with "Castelvania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate" (besides that cumbersome title) is that its weighed down by the expectations that now come with a "Castlevania" game post-"Symphony of the Night." A mostly straightforward action-adventure game with some light exploration, "Mirror of Fate" compares unfavorably (if we're using exploration as the yard stick) to Konami's 1997 classic.
And that's kind of an unfair comparison, given that "Mirror of Fate" is more like the 8- and 16-bit era "Castlevania" games of the past in intent and execution, a solid action-adventure title that sheds some illumination on the events that occur between 2010's "Lords of Shadow" and its upcoming sequel.
Taking place after the conclusion of "Lords of Shadow" (but before the awesome future-set "Interview With the Vampire"-inspired post-credits finale), "Mirror of Fate" tells the criss-crossing stories of Trevor and Simon Belmont, and Alucard, as they journey...

Just about every horror fan knows about Chris Alexander – writer, musician, journalist, and most famously Editor-in-Chief of Fangoria magazine. Now you can add film directing, cinematography and editing to that resume, as Chris has recently completed his first feature Blood for Irina – a surreal, dreamlike and provocative experiment inspired in part by some of international cinema's most beloved auteurs. I had a very cool Q&A with Chris about the film, his creative process, and the musical score, which he composed and performed himself.
FEARnet: I'm excited that Blood for Irina is making the rounds now. How does it feel seeing it on the big screen? Chris: It is exciting, and extra special for me, considering it was made for nothing and was my “hobby” movie. A few people actually like it and some even think it's destined for cult status. Who knows? But I'm enjoying the ride. How many...

Typically, licensed games come in two forms – hit and miss, with the latter generally dominating most releases. Due to a host of reasons most games based on properties that originate in other forms of media end up falling flat, and never living up to their true potential. Whether the problem is concept, design, or the source material itself, the onus of the blame usually ends up falling on the developer. So what happens when a well-established team like WayForward Technologies (known for games like Contra 4, A Boy And His Blob, and Shantae: Risky's Revenge) gets to try their hand at crafting a game for the number one movie in America? Hotel Transylvania for the 3Ds, that's what.
Based on the movie of the same name, Hotel Transylvania puts players in the role of Mavis, Dracula's daughter, on her 118th birthday. Her father has invited some of his friends like Bigfoot,...

While we’ve already had a couple of promos for Timur Bekmambetov’s history / myth mash-up Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, we haven’t had one that can show off the filmmaker’s commitment to hard Abe-on-vampire slaying action. That changes today with the arrival of an unrated trailer at IGN, which you can watch below. Bear in mind that it's full of blood-splattered action and could be considered Nsfw. Especially if you work in Dracula's castle. brightcove.createExperiences();Adapted by Seth Grahame-Smith from his novel, the movie tracks the president from his humble beginnings, weaving in a fictional tale of vampires impacting his life from the start. When a fanged fiend murders his mother, Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) swears revenge and, with a little help from friendly vamp Henry Sturgess (Dominic Cooper), trains himself in the difficult art of slaying them. Cue a succession of stabbings, beheadings, slicings, stakings and choppings.

Cage Slept Overnight In Dracula's Castle
Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage spent a night in Count Dracula's castle while filming his Ghost Rider sequel on location in Romania.
The Gone In 60 Seconds star was shooting in Eastern Europe last year when he decided to join a tour of Transylvania's Bran Castle, the fortress marketed as the home of the vampire character in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
He invited his Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-star Idris Elba to join him but the Brit was too spooked to visit the tourist attraction, and thought Cage was mad when he suggested staying there overnight.
During an interview on U.S. morning show Live! With Kelly, Elba said, "Romania's beautiful and the landscape, but... (there's a) beautiful mountain and at the top of the mountain is Transylvania...
"They do these midnight tours where you can go and spend the night in Dracula's castle. Apparently (Cage) did. I passed, I was like, 'No, I'm alright in my hotel, thank you very much!'"
Ironically, Cage was recently forced to dismiss bizarre rumours he is a real-life vampire, insisting, "I don't drink blood and last time I looked in the mirror, I had a reflection, so I'm not going with this vampire theory. I'm just not going to do it."...

If you've watched television at any point in the last year, you've likely come across "Peggy," a hirsute, vaguely Eastern European man in a holiday sweater who runs the fictional USA Prime Credit help center in the ubiquitous Discover card commercials. But you probably didn't know that the man behind Peggy is Tudor Petrut, a high school algebra teacher who landed the role on his first American acting audition. Petrut, a native of Romania (his mother is from a township right in the middle of Transylvania, "not very far from the alleged Dracula's castle"), had won his country's equivalent of the Academy Award before moving to the United States 20 years ago to marry an American and focus on writing scripts.

Here's the first footage that we've seen for Dario Argento's new film Dracula 3D. This isn't really a trailer as much as it is just a montage of footage from the movie. Argento has made some great films over the years and I'm a big fan of the Italian directors earlier work. I am curious to see his full take on the Bram Stoker classic.
The film stars Marta Gastini (The Rite), Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner, Hobo With a Shotgun), Asia Argento (Land of the Dead), Miguel Angel Silvestre and Miriam Giovanelli.
The trailer has a great deal of footage that includes some Major Spoilers. The teaser trailer also includes a lot of unfinished effects, but it's got Argentos signature all over it. There's some fun stuff shown in the trailer, and I'm hoping the movie ends up being good, but this is just a collection of poorly cut footage.
